CA$H CRAFT
Can a retiree break the "4% Rule" without breaking the bank?

What key money milestones help an investor build a million-dollar portfolio and progress to the doorstep of early retirement?

In CA$H CRAFT: The Musings an Meditations of an Income Investor, Rancroft Bechley considers important questions of retirement finance as he brings a philosophical perspective to the theory and practice of income investing. Rich with anecdotes and insights gleaned during the author's affiliation with a Los Angeles investment club dedicated to yield-focused strategies, the book relates details of the author's own journey to early retirement and explores intriguing topics such as the income vs. total return debate, "F-U money" and the metrics of financial abundance, portfolio designs that maximize the quality/productivity rubric, and non-traditional measures of net worth, among several others.

Unique in scope and perspective, written by an experienced practitioner, CA$H CRAFT will appeal to aspiring "incomistas," early retirees, and investors curious about a strategy that generates little media attention but offers significant wealth-building potential.

About the Author

Over a twenty-year career as a communications director for the State of California, Rancroft Beachley helped produce reports, pamphlets, manuals, and brochures for various state entities, including the CSU system and CalPERS, where he worked with budget data, revenue data, actuarial projections, and regional economic forecasts. Alongside colleagues affiliated with the Southern California chapters of the STC (Society for Technical Communication), he consulted in the production of private industry technical publications. Having retired at fifty to pursue the "rentier" lifestyle, he resides in Los Angeles, maintains a casual connection to former investment club members, and focuses on inspirational activities he happily does for free. He manages his portfolio according to the "balanced income" approach, generating annual yields in the 6% range, but considers an all-CEF portfolio a compelling idea in light of macroeconomic factors that support a lower-for-longer interest rate thesis. His rumored creative projects include an unfinished collection of income investing poetry, which he warns "will appeal only to discerning readers and generate only minor interest--pun intended."
