Mark Hayden, United States Deputy Marshal for the territorial government of Arizona and New Mexico, is embarking on a treasure hunt. His mysterious and shady Uncle Cain has left directions to what may be a valuable cache to his sister-in-law, Sarah Hayden. Sarah, Mark's mother, has since passed away, and now Mark's sister, Ruth, has enlisted his aid to find the treasure. But to do so, Mark must travel into the Sierra Madre Mountains, several hundred miles below the Mexico border.

The search will find Mark crossing paths with thieves, killers, hostile Indians, a less-than-honest Bisbee banker, the beautiful Maria Elena, Uncle Cain's old saddle-partner Pole Bratski, and the famous Marshal Virgil Earp.

Wayne A. Walter's western adventure series follows the Hayden Clan of West Texas, recalling the excitement and danger of the old West. Starting with the two Hayden brothers, Abel and Cain, along with Abel and Sarah's six offspring -- Matt, Mark, Luke, Johnny, Ruth and Esther -- there are plenty enough Hayden's, and more than enough excitement to go around. And the action isn't limited to their West Texas ranch. Danger and adventure take family members to the Arizona and New Mexico Territory, Colorado, and even old Mexico.

About the Author

At the age of fourteen, Wayne A. Walter was uprooted from city life and transplanted to a horse ranch. By sixteen, he was training and showing quarter horses, and for the next twenty years was deeply involved in the 'horse business.' Along with that came a love for the excitement and adventure of the old West, where the 'good guys and bad guys' fought it out to the finish. And the good guys always won, as they should.

Wayne and his spouse, Carolynn, now make their home in the mountains of central Arizona, surrounded by the Tonto National Forest.
