I listened to the audio version of this book. This was my first book by Xio Axelrod. The story was so much more than I had anticipated. More emotion, more exploration into the characters...just more of all the good things. I don't usually like books about rock stars, pop stars, movie stars or models. However, Axelrod really worked on the characterization of Yara and really humanized her in a way that a lot of books dealing with that type of character don't ("Look at me! I'm rich and famous! Look at me!"). I just can't relate to those people, but Yara's character was in a bad situation and needed Cam's help. That made her more likable for me. Camden was just a great guy from the get-go, even if his company had played a part in Yara's troubles. I loved that he recognized her from the moment she walked in the bar, had her food and drink taken care of and didn't approach her till much later. Then there's the fact that he's super hot! This book was really good by itself, but the dual narration by Greg Tremblay and Megan Tusing added so much to it! They were both incredible! Awesome audiobook!

Reviewed by Natasha Jackson for Readers' Favorite Camden is the story of two brothers, Cam (Camden) and his twin brother Pierce, who couldn’t be more different on the outside. Cam rocked the bad boy look while Pierce was pure Brooks Brothers, but still they became partners at a firm called The Skin Agency, which was created to keep the rich, famous and infamous free from kidnappers, blackmailers and extortionists. Mostly. But one night things go wrong when a burgeoning pop star, Yara Bujold, goes missing. It changes everything for Cam and Xio Axelrod did a fantastic job of showing just how much he was affected by that night. He was tortured and guilty before leaving the agency to work at a bar he owned, and then…in walks the dead pop star he’d helped destroy. I’ll admit that I wasn’t sure about Camden at first. Even though his guilt was palpable almost from his first appearance on the page, in my view he was still a pretty bad guy and the more I learned about what happened to Yara, the more that belief stuck. Yara was strong and tough and vulnerable at the same time, so basically she was the kind of heroine you have a really good time rooting for. When Yara and Cam first shared a page, the chemistry was so hot and sizzling, it leapt off the page. Xio Axelrod did a really good job illustrating the inevitable tension between them as the chemistry turned to more. The best thing about this story in my opinion is Yara. She wasn’t a dumb heroine who constantly put herself in danger to find the truth. She was smart, calculating, and cleverly stayed out of sight while she set her plans in motion. Xio Axelrod is a new author to me but Camden is a good, fast read that held my attention from beginning to end.

This is the first book I have read by Xio Axelrod. I decided to read it because it sounded interesting and I am happy to say, I was not disappointed. This is a fast paced, engaging story filled with intrigue and passion. The writing style is solid and the dynamics between the characters are realistic and interesting. Yara, a successful young pop star is so frustrated with her manager, she fakes her own death to get away from him. Yara decides to ask Cam for help. Cam’s agency, Skin specializes in cleaning up after the rich and famous. I enjoyed the engaging storyline as Cam and Yara try to clear Yara’s name and prove how corrupt her manager is. Yara is a big pop star but she has remained sweet and innocent. I liked both Cam and Yara, they are good people and there is a strong attraction between them. Cam is honorable and protective and Yara brings out the best in him. He understands Yara's reluctance to trust him and is patient and understanding with her. I also love Cam’s sexy accent. I was given an advanced copy of this book to write an honest review for Netgalley and Cocktails and Books.

Great story, well done and I loved Cam. These Skinner brothers are going to prove to be interesting. Xio wrote a great story with a solid plot and great characters and just enough steam to fog up the windows. 4.5 from me and yes, thank you to Stu as well.
