This is a great twist on the usual science fiction genre. The characters are interesting and the author does a great job of weaving them throughout these stories. You are drawn in to the conflicts and invested in the future of these creatures. They are also fast paced , humorous and extremely erotic. Cheryl Brooks is my new favorite.

This bundle includes the first 3 novels in the Star Cat Chronicles. I purchased them individually but Sourcebooks has always produced a quality product so I expect this omnibus edition to be equal to the originals. These are very sexy books. The heroes are humanoid with feline characteristics and a very unusual sexual adaptation (necessary on their home-world but I won't spoil you further.) The heroines are strong and assertive. While I personally think the sex is tastefully done it is vividly described, avoid this book if that offends you. In many ways these books are a throwback to an earlier age of science fiction/space opera with rich world building. Humans crossing with alien races. Earth-like worlds are plentiful and populated. But most of all, these are love stories.

This series is an interesting idea, but so far I'm disappointed in the story, and may regret buying the whole series. The narrative is naive and the style is clumsy and uneven. Jack's voice is frankly annoying with the constant 20th/21st-century Earth-English references, and a little too breathless and childish for a supposedly hard-bitten trader who has been traveling the galaxy for years in search of her abducted sister. I hoped for a little more depth in both the storytelling and character development. For example, her acceptance of both slavery and the culture in which she finally finds her sister (along with the explanation of it) are, again, entirely too facile and superficial. I'll keep reading for now, as reviews indicate that the later books show growth.

I am a fan of scifi, romance and urban fantasy but I require a really good plot, good writing and good character development. I also enjoy a good sex scene as long as it follows character and plot. This seems to be a story mostly revolving around a sex based concept. It is light on character development and the plot is simplistic. However, I did read the whole thing. I won't re-read it nor will I buy more in the series. If you are a fan of Patricia Briggs, Thea Harrison, Nalini Singh and Linda Howard, you will find this disappointing.

I quite enjoyed the 3 novels in the "Cat Star" series. The Cats are sexy and oh so sweet. The stories are well written and hard to put away for the night. I wish that more of the series were offered in a Nook bundle. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
