I enjoyed this book (254 pages) it kept me interested to the end. It ended a bit abruptly for me, like it was rushed, that is the reason for 3.5 stars. GJRA

5 Stars! This is the 4th in the O'Leary Series. I can't get enough of the O'Leary's. Jimmy is undercover on a case and Moria's brothers best friend. So according to the best friends code off limits. She is also a reporter which he does not need right now hanging around while he is working a case. With them both being head strong and stubborn can they work together to solve a case? With all the sparks that are flying back and forth can they fight the attraction? Love Moria in this story and was so happy she gets the man she always wanted. At times Jimmy needed a smack upside the head. You will be pulled into the story and fall in love with the characters. Looking forward to the next book in the wonderful series.

Catch Your Breath is the fourth book in Shannyn Schroeder’s O’Leary’s Series. Even though it is the fourth book, it is a standalone read. Moira O’Leary is the oldest girl and fifth of six children. She has watched her brothers fall in love within the last year or so. She’s starting to realize that that is something she wants for herself. Moira is a reporter who for the most part only writes articles about charity events and parties within the Chicago area. Moira has a passion for journalism, but no one in her family takes her or her job seriously. Jimmy O’Malley is the oldest of the five O’Malley children. He’s a former soldier who moved back home to take care of his father. Jimmy has worked his way up in the Chicago PD and was recently promoted to detective. Being an unknown puts Jimmy in a good position when the mayor needs someone to go undercover. Moira and Jimmy have known each other almost their whole lives. Moira, in fact, has had a crush on Jimmy most of her life. For Jimmy, it’s just a struggle to remember that Moira is his friend’s little sister and that he needs to stay away from her. Jimmy’s undercover job and Moira’s job put them on a collision course to end up working together. Moira’s easy going charm and reckless behavior puts Jimmy on edge. With her consistent pushing, the two finally give into their feelings. The back and forth between these two can be a little irritating, but I completely see why these two work. Since he was a child, Jimmy has had the need to protect and doesn’t really allow himself to relax and have fun. With Moira, Jimmy’s protective instincts have to be on high alert but she also has the ability to get him to relax and have fun. Moira loves her job but puts herself and it down because her family and other people do. Jimmy is able to see how good a writer she is and sees her like no one else does. Moira is a one woman wrecking crew who blows into Jimmy’s life and gives him everything he’s ever wanted but was afraid to hope for. Rating: 4.5 Stars Source: Publisher via NetGalley Reviewed by: Kim

Jimmy comes from a large family and still lives in the house he grew up in with his father and brothers.  Jimmy had finished serving in the military before returning home to join the local police force.  When Jimmy O’Malley is sent undercover by the mayor he has no idea what he is getting himself into.  An undercover assignment sounded better than the things he had been doing as a new detective on the force but hunting a thief without a lot of information from the victims is not easy.  To compound this situation the mayor wants him to play the part of a wealthy man that moves easily in his social group.      Moria is a reporter working social events when she thinks she sees Jimmy, the guy she has always wanted.  Jimmy has always looked at her like a little sister, but Moria wanted him to see her as a woman.  She decides to push the issue when she finds out that he is working undercover and needs her to not blow his cover.  The only way that she agrees is if he will let her have an exclusive story line when the case is solved.  This also gives Moria the chance to get closer to Jimmy and see if they can move pass the little sister syndrome that Jimmy insists on keeping up as a blockade between them.      Things really start to heat up when Jimmy begins to look at each other as more than his best friend’s sister.  He finds himself almost blowing his cover when he sees Moria flirting with other guys.   He doesn’t realize that she has a thing for Jimmy and only Jimmy.  As he searches for the thief his feelings for Moria become more of a distraction and hindrance. He has to focus but finds that he can’t.     Will Moria and Jimmy have their happily ever after?  Can Jimmy let Moria help him solve his case?    Overall Rating:  4 Rockin’ Stars Hero –Jimmy O’Malley: 4 stars Heroine –Moira O’Leary: 4 stars Steam: 3.5 stars  Plot: 4 stars  Cliffhanger: No Would I recommend this book: Yes! If you enjoy a good mystery solved by a nosey reporter and a hot police detective you must read this book.  It takes a different look at a young girl growing up with a crush on her big brother’s best friend and how awareness begins to grow between two people that have known each other all their lives. Would I read other books by this author: Yes! I would like to read the next story in this series to see where the author will take the O’Leary Family. ***Received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review***

Nothing like falling for a girl in your old neighborhood romance...but Moira and Jimmy have some major obstacles to overcome. There is that code of honor, don't lust after your best friends sister. Then you've got the detective and reporter issue. Top that off with some major attitude and you've got a pretty great romance to explore. I highly enjoyed reading Catch Your Breath. It was a refreshing change of pace to a nice contemporary romance with an intriguing mystery to ponder.  Schroeder perfectly captures the essence of the city neighborhood. Don't miss Catch Your Breath, book 4 in The O'Leary's Series.

Catch Your Breath by Shannyn Schroeder is the 4th book in her wonderful O’Leary series. This series is pure romance, and enjoyable fun books to read. The nice thing about this series is that even if you have not read the previous books, you can read anyone of these books as a standalone without missing too much. Shannyn throughout the book shows many of the O’Leary family members and you do not miss too much. Though it is always nice to start from the beginning. Moira O’Leary is our heroine, and I loved Moira in this story. She is a strong, tough, independent and very passionate heroine. Moira is a reporter trying to get her big break, but is stuck at covering parties for the rich. At one of these parties, Moira sees Jimmy O’Malley, and wonders why he is at one of these parties. She has had a childhood crush on Jimmy, and even now she still finds herself very attracted to him. However, Jimmy wants nothing to do with his best friend’s (Liam O’Leary) little sister, even if she is now a gorgeous redhead. Jimmy is a young detective, and he wants to move up the ladder. He is given an undercover job covering thefts at homes of the very rich. Jimmy is determined to use this as his stepping stone to help him rise up, and will let nothing stand in his way. Especially the familiar young lady who spots him at his first party acting undercover. Moira jumps on the opportunity to get a big scoop, not to mention spend time with Jimmy and use her wiles to make him notice her. Jimmy though will be a tough nut to crack, since he considers her off limits because of his close relationship to her brother, whom he is afraid will not approve. But it will be easier said than done, as Jimmy finds himself unable to ignore Moira, and the sparks fly off the wall between them. In between this passion fill romance that sizzles throughout, there is a mystery. As Jimmy works to find the leaders behind the thefts, Moira begins to work on another angle for a story. This causes much conflict between them, as Jimmy doesn’t like her getting anywhere near his case, not to mention getting into danger. As I noted, I loved the character of Moira. She was perfect in every way. Jimmy however, left me with mixed feelings. He was a hunk, and truly a nice guy, who really did care about Moira. But I also found him to be too macho or arrogant in his beliefs. He was one of the guys who wants full control of his woman, certainly not an independent one like Moira. A few times I wanted to smack him. I also thought the angst between them was a bit redundant. Will Moira, who has a lot of experience with her brothers at handling alpha males, be able to change Jimmy’s stubbornness? Is it possible that they can rise above their obstacles? Catch Your Breath was a lighthearted, refreshing and fun read. The romance was sexy and hot, with a couple that despite their obstacles were perfect for each other. Shannyn Schroeder has written another wonderful storyline that continues with her O’Leary series, and I look forward to the next book.
