Her influences are: Jane Austen, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Jenny Crusie, Susan Isaacs and Jennifer Weiner to name a few. Naturally, when she began writing, she chose romantic comedy featuring -- you guessed it - funny, daring women and the men who eventually win them. She has two amazing kids and the unconditional love of her Border Collie, Max.

Nancy's a USA today bestselling author of more than 50 novels. When she's not writing, she's hiking, skiing, traveling or sipping wine. She's appeared on the front page of the New York Times (when her book, Speed Dating launched Harlequin's NASCAR series), has been a clue in a crossword puzzle (National Post, Canada) and she's been a double finalist for the RITA award, won a Romantic Times award and often shares her love of writing in her popular workshops. In 2013 The Christmas Grandma Ran Away from Home was a Kindle Book Review Indie Award finalist.

How Daphne and Jack Met A beautiful short story on how Daphne and Jack met. Daphne pregnant with her professor's baby and Jack who has been in and out of foster homes. He finally runs away at 15 and has been on his own since than. They meet on a Greyhound bus and start talking about their pasts because they figure they are strangers who will never see each other again. This is the beginning of the Take a Chance series. Read it today to see how it all began.

The story of how Daphne and Jack (the hippie parents of the 11 Chance kids) met... Happens in about 19 pages but since it is free we can't complain... I had already read the first 3 or 4 books in the series when this became available... But, it still added to the stories of their children... Wish things like their story happened in real life...

A 19 page free prequel to the series. I do wish she had made it a complete book.

Great short story that gives you a brief overview of how it all started between two individuals who happen to be in both books 1 and 2 that are out thus far in the series. If you plan on reading the series, I highly recommend reading this first however you're welcome to read it after if that's what you prefer but you'll definitely want to read it. I personally enjoyed getting to know a little more about two of the characters in the series.

Where it all began! This is #0.5 in the Take A Chance Series. HEA with No cliffhangers! These are about the members of the Chase family. I suggest reading them in order to get the best experience. Content Warning: There is no sex, just good chemistry. ♥ Story ♥ This is a Prequel to the whole Take A Chance Series. It's a short novella that let you see just how Jack and Daphne met. Their names are so close to Jack and Diane that I can't help myself from calling them that. Please keep in mind the time frame of this story. Things that are acceptable today, were very much NOT in the 70's. Jack ❤ Daphne All of this story takes place on June 17, 1976 upon a Greyhound bus heading from California to Oregon. 18 yr old Daphne is on her way to live with her great aunt after finding herself in an unplanned family way. Jack is on his way to Eugene in an effort to re-write his life story. These two just connect and its quite touching. Its short but insightful. I will probably want to go back and re-listen to Chance Encounter, after I'm finished with #4 because it will probably carry more weight at that point. It's a great bonus to this delightful series. Take a Chance! The angst is low, which I appreciate. The two love birds do face some settling down issues. I think Caitlyn is a bit of a late grower in that department, but it all works out in the end. We get to meet a good chunk of the other siblings in the beginning of this story. I look forward to all of their stories! ♥ Author ♥ Nancy Warren pulls the heartstrings even for a short prequel! ♥ Narrator(s) ♥ Teri Schnaubelt has a very pleasant voice. This is my first audiobook performed by her and I quite enjoyed it. ♥ Audio Production ♥ Normal speed was fine. Audiobook obtained at my request and I am voluntarily leaving this unbiased review.

I enjoyed reading about how Daphne and Jack met. They hit it off very quickly on a bus ride. It was fun to look back in time and see how they started their journey together. If you haven't read the Take a Chance series, I encourage you to do so. You won't regret it!

Short but a good way to set the path for the series.

Only 14 pages. A prequal to, "KISS A GIRL IN THE RAIN." ( which I enjoyed.) This back story cleared up some questions. There are five books in this series so far, if you count this free prequal. AD

Chance Encounter by Nancy Warren Take A Chance Novella - Prequel Daphne Naigle has gone and made a mess of her young life. Putting her trust in the wrong man. Her family is disappointed in her and she chooses to move on, to go live with the black sheep in the family.  Jack Chance has had a rough life. Most likely opposite of the fragile flower on the bus with him. Looks like she had all life had to hand her. So why the sadness?  Jack and Daphne get to know each other on the bus ride from California to Oregon. They share their pasts. After all, they are only two strangers on a bus ride who will never see each other again after the ride. Right? A very short story to introduce the Take a Chance Series. Book one is Kiss a Girl in the Rain and book two is Iris in Bloom. More books to come.

19 pages. The book was free. I loved the first book, Kiss a Girl in the Rain, and was looking forward to finding out about the parents. This chapter only covers how the parents met. I wish it had covered how their family grew or more back story of the characters.
