Isabel Stone wanted a normal life. But when the unexpected death of her father leaves her at the helm of the family business, things quickly go from weird to worse. Vampires are on the loose and out of the coffin, and only Isabel can walk the fine line between the world of the living and the world of the undead.
Torn between letting go of her past and embracing her future, Isabel will have to decide who she can trust, and be willing to use all the weapons at her disposal, to get to the bottom of a terrifying string of deaths that lead right to her doorstep—before she becomes the next victim. In a city where nothing is what it seems, ending up the target of a deranged killer might actually be the high point of her week. Because in this town, the things that go bump in the night… just might kill you.

About the Author

Sherry D. Ficklin is a full time writer from Colorado where she lives with her husband, four kids, two dogs, and a fluctuating number of chickens and house guests. She can often be found browsing her local bookstore with a large white hot chocolate in one hand and a towering stack of books in the other. That is, unless she's on deadline at which time she, like the Loch Ness monster, is only seen in blurry photographs. She is the author of several YA novels ranging from contemporary romance to science fiction. In her spare time she co-hosts the Pop Lit Divas radio show and is constantly trying to take over the world.

I thought this book was a good read, its about 170 nook pgs,the main character was a strong women, but I was confused about how she seemed so upset about her ex and than not stand by him that was a bit werid for me,especially when there seem to be something brewing with xavier,it kinda doesn't seem to flow well to me, but thats me I believe in true lasting love.I did like the fast pace writing of this book also, the murder mystery with a paranormal bent flowed really well within this story line. All in all I think this book has a great future to be a great series......vw

Fantastic!  Chaotic family.  Vampire Conclave.   Mystery suspense.  I could not put this one down.

Isabel's reactions to some situations are too childish for a strong woman. I do like the complicated relationship she could have with her two guys. Just dont drag it out too long. Nice mystery. I hope the next book is as good.
