Very thin book with old fashioned advice based around punishment. Avoid

Very poor and outdated dog training advice. Says to leave dog outside when baby arrives and not to let them interact. Also uses a lot of harsh punishment techniques. Disappointing.

I read this book when I was expecting. It's a quick read. I read it in flight on a business trip. This book really helped my husband and me prepare our dogs for the arrival of our daughter. The book explained how and why dogs react to different infant behaviors. It showed us how to make the baby a positive experience for the dogs. And it prepped us on how to teach our daughter how to interact with the dogs. The book also touched on the difficult situation of when a dog may not be a good fit for a growing family. I highly recommend this book.

One of the few books about adding a baby to a family that already contains a dog. Thank goodness the recommendations are sane. It also goes over what to teach children about interacting with dogs. -Sidney

Do not recommend. The authors suggest putting a dog down that is not fit for their family. That is after using punishment techniques which are painful for my dog. No thankyou!
