In 1943, when he was three years old, Joseph Iron Eye Dudley went to live with his grandparents on the Yankton Sioux Reservation in South Dakota. He is a member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe, an ordained United Methodist minister, and president of Cook College in Tempe, Arizona.
