Everyone wants to get close to a rock star.
The bright lights.
Those talented fingers strumming… a guitar.
Everyone wants to bang a rock star.
So why do I keep running from the one who wants me?
I’m America’s Sweetheart.
I have a reputation.
He’s a boy-band icon turned rock god.
He’s every flavor of bad.
And he’s much, much too young for me.
If I end up in Nick Ryder’s bed, my career and I will both be screwed.
...but that’s only if I’m caught.

It has been ages since I read a Laurelin Paige book and I cannot help but wonder why. Having read and loved previous books, way before I started reviewing, I was anxious to catch up on some of her stories. It is refreshing to read a story where the woman is older than the man. Nick Ryder has had a crush on Natalia Lowen for years and once he meets her, it only escalates. The chemistry between them is intense and Nick decides against his better judgement to pursue Natalia. He is shocked when she leaves but as he “never chases a woman” he lets her go. Over the next few weeks they keep bumping into each, co-incidence or not? Nick finally convinces Natalia that they need to explore the attraction that is sizzling between them although keeping it under the radar will be difficult. What starts as a fling morphs in to so much more and I have to say I was glued to the pages as I read this story. Close is a sweet, romantic, love story which totally brought a smile to my face. There were so many swoon worthy moments throughout Close and I loved the camaraderie between Natalia and her girlfriends which had me in stitches at times. I also loved the playfulness between Nick and Natalia as they spent time together. Close was one of those books that once I started I couldn’t put down. I absolutely adored Nick and Natalia both as individuals and also as a couple. Although Nick and Natalia are so different they really do make an amazing couple. Ms. Paige had me hook, line and sinker and I just adored the story line.
: CLOSE by Laurelin Paige is the first instalment in the multi-authored contemporary, adult RYDER BROTHERS erotic, romance trilogy focusing on the members of the former boy band the Ryder Brothers. This is twenty-three year old, singer Nick Ryder, and thirty-six year old, actress Natalia Lowen’s story line. Told from dual first person perspectives (Nick and Natalia) CLOSE follows the building relationship between twenty-three year old, singer Nick Ryder, and thirty-six year old, actress Natalia Lowen. Natalie Lowen is a successful Hollywood actress who has struggled to keep her good-girl image but meeting bad boy, rock star Nick Ryder forces Natalia to reconsider what it is she wants in life, including a potential disaster in the making, if her reputation takes a hit while dating a man thirteen years her junior. What ensues is the building love and romance between Nick and Natalia, and the fall-out as Natalia is unable to open her heart to a future with the man that she loves. Natalia Lowen doesn’t do relationships, and is all about protecting her good-girl reputation. Reputation and impressions are everything in Hollywood, and Natalia refuses to allow anyone to destroy her hard-fought battle with perfection and the persona she has developed for public consumption. Nick Ryder’s reputation precedes his introduction to our story line heroine but Nick has fantasized about Natalia since a young boy, a fantasy that is about to come true as Nick embarks on a seduction of Hollywood’s ‘princess’. The relationship between Nick and Natalia is one of immediate attraction but Natalia struggles with paparazzi, public perception, and maintaining her good-girl image. Falling in love with Nick Ryder was never on the horizon but the knowledge of potential disaster forces Nat to walk away in spite of their love. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense. We are introduced to Natalia’s best friends: her life coach Hadley, and fellow actress Rowan. Nick’s brothers are but a blip of the radar, and we have yet to be introduced to the Ryder siblings. The world building follows Nick and Natalia as they struggle to maintain a relationship while Nick heads out on tour. From texting to phone calls, last minute flights and clandestine dinners, we are up front and center with our story line couple. CLOSE is a story of trust and relationships; perception and love. Natalia’s inability to allow herself the freedom to love is complicated by their difference in age, a difference that she believes will destroy her good girl image. The character driven premise is entertaining and enchanting ; the characters are animated and colorful; the romance is seductive and provocative. CLOSE is a great introduction to the Ryder Brother’s but there are definite similarities to a real-life boy band and their significant others, including the names.
OMG another fantastic love story from Laurelin Paige! Ms Paige takes cliched romance relationships and does a complete 360 and I loved every page. Nick Ryder is a young rich sexy rocker who has been in the spotlight for years first in a boy band with his brothers then in a solo career. Natalia Lowen is an actress whose career has been built on her "good girl" image. So when she meets Nick she knows she needs to stay far away from him, but when he pursues her Natalia knows she is no trouble. Now she needs to do everything she can to protect her image but also her heart - getting involved with Nick will never work and being 13 years older then him it should be easy just make everything about sex. Nick though has other plans for Natalia and her heart. I loved the role reversal that Ms Paige does with Close, her writing is authentic and true to who these characters are from beginning to end. Told in dual POV's we get both sides of the story and really get to see who these characters are. The dialog is sharp and witty while the romance is perfectly balanced. We also get to meet Nick's brothers - the characters that the future books will be based on and I for one can not wait to see what Kaytie McGee and JD Hawkins bring. Ms Paige started the trilogy off the right way with Natalie and Nick.
Fame and fortune do not keep your bed warm at night, but who wants to be fodder for social media and the paparazzi? Not Natalia Lowen, America’s Sweetheart, who wants to stay far away from scandal and drama. She certainly made a big mistake by drinking all those shots and sexy dancing with Nick Ryder, rock star and former member of a boy band. He smells good, is oh so sexy and much too young for her, but it felt wonderful dancing with him so she closed her eyes and just let go. When they finally looked at each other and the sexual tension began to build, she panicked, and ran off to join her friends. Wow!! That was a close one. Natalia had never been kissed so reverently before and even though she felt a connection to Nick, she would never have a relationship with anyone that would cause her image to be tarnished. Nick recognized Natalia immediately when she brushed up against him on the dance floor, and he thought he was in heaven dancing with her as he felt her sexy body drift closer and closer to him. They were two famous and lonely people swaying to the music, trying to be like everyone else, with no bodyguards, no followers, no cameras. He was just about to talk to her and perhaps ask for her number, when she looked in his eyes with worry, and ran off into the crowd. Natalia is a beautiful and sexy woman and Nick needs to see her again and he will do anything to accomplish that. I am so in love with this book!! Nat and Nick are a fun and real couple who met each other at a time when they weren’t looking for love. Nick may be young but he has an old soul and he knew right away that Natalia was the woman for him. He never gave up on her and always found a way to make her smile, make her happy and to show her that he cared.
Close by Laurelin Paige is book one in her new Ryder Brothers series. Starring rock-star Nick Ryder and actress Natalia Lowen. The chemistry between these two characters is definitely what makes this book a hit. From the beginning when they meet on the dance floor in a club, this books is all about them and their growing relationship that starts off as a fling but becomes deeper than that. Besides the main couple, I love Natalia's friends, Hadley and Rowan. They're supportive and awesome. It'll be cool to read Hadley's book later in the series when JD Hawkins release more in December 2018. Overall, Close by Laurelin Paige is a fun and enjoyable story and I gladly recommend. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance review copy of this book I received for free in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)
This ryder brother is everything. laurelin created a rockstar in this book. Nick Ryder is so strong and powerfull. Selfconfident and knows what he want out of life. Natalie is 36 at her prime of her life. She has her careere under controle. The press under controle. Just broke things of with her boring boyfriend. And ready to finde a man , her age who is just the right guy to mach her carrer and her family dreams. What she doesnt take into her plans s meeting and falling for the much younger Nick Ryder. He is not part of the big plan. He is all kinds of wrong but all kinds of right. And how can she not fall for him. Laurelin is one of my favorit authers. She has this special way of writhing that i cant not love everything she writes. And this book is all kinds of lovely laurelin pages. Thank you laurelin for writhing a book with a mature woman and not a young virgin. Thank you for a book where the guy is not afraid of his feelings. Thank you for making him so strong and confident and strong enough for the bouth of them. thats why i love your books so much.
