All Christians are on a journey with the Lord. Sometimes we walk away from Him, sometimes we stumble and bumble our way, and sometimes we stay on the path that He has set before us.
The important thing about our walk is not that we have made mistakes or have seemingly failed at times, but that we can always get back on the right path.
The pages of this devotional come from just such a journey.
About the Author
I've always loved the written word. I enjoy writing almost as much as reading. My tastes run from science fiction and fantasy, steampunk and westerns, to historical and romance. The only genres I don't read, ever, is horror, (Life is scary enough, why add to that?) And Erotica. My all time favorite stories are fairy tales! Especially ones that have been re-written for adults. Now that my children are now grown, I have started to write again. The ideas are coming faster than my fingers and brain can keep up with. I live in Wisconsin with my husband of thirty three years. We have raised three children of our own and had others in our home off and on over the years, through fostering and just helping those that we 'adopted'. I have nine grandchildren and am blessed to have two with me on a daily basis. Though I plan on writing some Christian fiction, I am first of all a Christian, I do plan on writing some that are purely for entertainment without any kind of "Christian message". My goal is to make some characters come alive and to provide a small place of escape for my readers.

“Closer Yet” by Jodi Woody is kind of a cross between a Devotional and a series of spiritually inspirational essays. It is primarily of value to Christians, but any honest seeker will find it to be a great help, too. In many ways the 60 distinct topical entries appear almost to be regular and periodic submittals from a columnist, gathered together in one volume. Each individual essay is succinct and quite nicely tailored to the topic with which it deals. I found these to be very appropriate and useful, but without a Table of Contents the reader literally has to peruse the entire volume to look for a particular topic. The addition of a ToC would be very helpful, and would allow the reader to find a topic closely tied to whatever spiritual problem they may be facing at the moment. As I think back, I cannot recall a single essay that was not a personal experience of the author. In essence, “Closer Yet” is the author’s record of how she was able to overcome various troubles, trials and tribulations in her life, by submitting to the will of God and the teachings of the Holy Spirit. While not every person will face the same issues, it would seem to be virtually impossible for anyone to NOT find a single topic of interest and relevance. With 60 separate topics to choose from, no doubt many will be deemed relevant to every reader. I believe “Closer Yet” is an excellent help to Christians as they struggle to walk with Christ through life on this planet. I recommend it as a worthwhile addition to any Christian’s library.
