Never fall for a rockstar...

Julian Wheaton views the world through a kaleidoscope of synesthesia, seeing the colors of every sound he hears. His life as an iconic rock guitarist was a stressful psychedelic trip that nearly destroyed him. Now he's abandoned the rock 'n' roll lifestyle for the peaceful sanctity of his recording studio, but when fiery Cleo Compton comes to work for him, she brings chaos with her.

Cleo Compton has had her flings with rockstars-and it's left her wary and bruised. Julian may have those sexy bedroom eyes and drool-worthy tattoos, but Cleo is determined to keep things strictly professional-until Julian turns out to be every dream she's ever chased. When he risks it all to hit the road with a band again, Cleo fears he'll return as the one thing she can no longer abide-a rockstar.

I received an advanced reader copy of Color Me Crazy for review. This book made me laugh out loud several times. I think we can all relate to the woman who doesn’t quite have it together, who is just shy of graceful and occasionally an outright disaster. I love that about Cleo. Julian is the rock star every girl has dreamed of at least once in her life but he’s so much more. He’s a synesthete. Imagine the benefit and hardship of actually seeing the music while being a rockstar. There were certainly times when I found Julian witty, strong, and unbelievably frustrating. This story has sex, drugs & rock and roll, yes. But it’s full of heart, struggle, and descriptions so beautiful that you too will be seeing the world in different colors. Author Carol Pavliska manages to be laugh out loud funny, real (writing you and your friends right into a novel as Cleo and her besties), heartbreaking, and sexy. I highly recommend this book. (A side note: One of the most original book covers I've ever seen. Look closely. That's Julian on the cover of his rock magazine, his tattoos accurately portrayed, right down to the line of music at his waist. I love it.)

GREAT!! This is a rock romance book that has everything a rock fan is looking for including a hot rocker on its cover. Color Me Crazy has steamy sex scenes, romance, drug addiction, and some of the best humor written in a book like this. The laughing helps with the warm fuzzy feeling that you get when reading some of the steamier pages! Julian, who became a rock star at an early age, had given up “the life” when the drugs and his medical condition got the best of him. He happens to meet one of his sister’s friends one night and it began from that first nipple pinch on. Chloe was a spitfire who had no idea who Julian really was and ended up sharing his loft with him and became his assistant in the recording studio that Julian had. Their story begins and ends at the loft/recording studio as well. It’s a long road for the 2 of them in finding that they really did love each other and nothing else, including Julian’s drugs, could stop them from having the happiness that they both fought for and deserved. The best part was the story in between that made this such an exceptional read. It gave you some idea of what life on the road for a rock band and their groupies/and or wives was like, the promises and the lies that could make or break anyone. So if you like an author who knows how to write some pretty hot scenes as well as write with a great sense of humor this is definitely a book for you. I will be checking out what this author has coming out in the future and only hoping that she pens another rock romance. ARC provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

Fantastic debut book for this author. Loved Cleo and her wacky ways. Even though she's a bit of a character, her inner strength shines through on every page. Julian has a very unique way of seeing the world and that sometimes makes his path in life hard to deal with. He's troubled, but his flaws make him real and wonderful. Together these two are fantastic. Couldn't put this one down and I highly recommend it to everyone.

My love for this book runs deep! Not only is this story a humorous, super-hot romance with amazing characters who have truly believable flaws and outrageous quirks (ones that kept me smiling or laughing throughout), but it's well-written and I.COULD.NOT.PUT.IT.DOWN. I've read this awesome story countless times already and can't seem to get enough of it. I regret nothing. Author Carol Pavliska’s rock star romance debut stimulates your senses with vibrant characters, witty humor, and sizzling sexual chemistry. Warning: Color Me Crazy is a highly addictive must-read!

This is her debut novel and boy has she started with a bang. I literally couldn't put this book down. I found myself laughing a lot while reading this. That's one one of the things I loved about the book the humor. Both characters have a past that they struggle with. Except past mistakes happen once again and puts a huge strain on their relationship. Can they learn from them in order to have a future or is it too late? Julian is an interesting character, he associates colors to sounds which is tough for a rock star. Cleo and Julian don't hit it off right away, but soon they don't mind each other's company so much.  I would highly recommend reading Carol's debut novel.

Thanks to Entangled and NetGalley I have found a new author. Color Me Crazy By Carol Pavliska is a story that wraps around you and does not let go until you finish it. I received an ARC copy and enjoyed every minute of this book. A reformed bad boy faced with an unexpected temptation-what can be better than that? Worth a read.

**I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review** Julian's sister's name is Addy and he had been embarrassing her in one way or another since the day he was born. Julian was a synesthete, someone who sees colors. Julian sees the colors from sounds. They weren't usually a problem unless he was stressed or exhausted. He was not the only one but he did seem to be the only one who needed to keep his colors separate. Julian was a musician and played guitar. He also wrote songs. Chloe was Addy's friend and had turned 30. She was a sucker for musicians. Julian owns a recording studio and usually has locals acts. He let Chloe move in her own apartment in the studio and hired her as his assistant. Chloe was a versatile person. She was smart and caring. She could be stubborn and determined. I loved her character through the twists and turns of this story. Julian had a uniqueness in him from his seeing in colors to his kindness. He feels like a freak and doesn't feel he's good enough to be a boyfriend, let alone good enough for anyone except musicians. He is very talented and artistic. He is kind and willing to help people as much as he can. I also loved his character through the twists and turns of this story. I loved the plot, story, and characters. I highly recommend it.

Review: I was drawn to this story by the subject matter, synesthesia.  I thought it would be unique and interesting to incorporate it into a story and I was right.  I really liked how the story revolved around Julian and his synesthesia and the effects it has on his personal and professional life.  This was a very emotional story not only dealing with Julian's  condition but his drug addiction too.  Julian is a sexy rocker, who is very talented but addiction nearly cost him his life and now he is the owner of a recording studio.  He meets the free-spirited Cleo through his sister and though they start out on an extremely bad foot his sister kinds of puts him up to hiring and giving Cleo a place to live.  Of course they grow closer and become friends which leads to a great passion/love between the two of them, but misunderstanding and communication undermines the romance and spirals Julian to use again.  Without giving a ton away really loved the angsty part near the end when Cleo finds out about the drug use and leaves him and then later when Julian finds out Cleo has been keeping a big secret.  The ending was satisfying and made me melt. This is a debut book by this Author.  She did and excellent job of coming up with a story that was unique and interesting.  She wrote about a rocker that could have easily been a cliche, but this was fresh take on rockers. The story was full of complex characters and storyline, that had me caring about what happened.  She can write some great intimate scenes too!  I will be looking to see what she comes up with next. 5Stars

**Disclaimer: I’ve received a copy of this book from Entangled Publishing in exchange for a fair and honest review.** Cleo lives a life where she is trying to please her parents and live up to what her brother has accomplished. She is not meant to live that lifestyle and is miserable trying to do so. When her teaching job isn’t renewed, Cleo is in a pickle; where is she going to work and how is she going to pay her rent? In steps Julian, her best friend Addie’s rock-n-roll brother. Julian has lived a life of sex, drugs, rock-n-roll, and an incredible dark and depressing side. He sees the world in colors from his diagnosed disorder of synesthesia. Will Cleo and Julian be able to get past their baggage to see what’s really in front of them? Can they overcome all their obstacles for true happiness? I would describe this book as heartbreakingly beautiful. If you look past the ugly parts of addiction and sadness, there is an incredibly beautiful story being told, of both Cleo and Julian. This is a grasp at your heart strings kind of story. There were moments of frustration, of laughter, happiness, sadness, and love. This author has done an incredible job of pulling out emotion from me. She has written an incredible story and writes about tough issues, drug and alcohol addiction, depression, and suicide. These issues are tough issues to talk about but are such important topics as they are so prevalent in today’s society. It is stories like this that I think can allow certain readers to relate and help them cope with their everyday battle. I definitely recommend this book to you to read. It’s utterly beautiful and breathtaking.

I guess I should have understood the Blurb of this Novel precisely the way it was written. It really was a kaleidoscope of synesthesia, which basically would have not been a problem. But the "psychedelic" part should have warned me. I really really wanted to like this book, but it felt like a trip back in time. The complete writing style felt strange to me and I could honestly not connect to the characters, even if the story itself was not bad. And the 3 stars I still give are really just for the storyline itself. > > > I have received this Book as an ARC from the Publisher < < < > > > In Exchange I promised an honest Review < < <

When I first started reading this book, I wasn't too sure I was going to get into it.  I thought Cleo was very silly and immature.  But I kept with it and she slowly changed my mind.  She was still very silly, and she provided many funny moments, but it was like she found herself.  I liked her from that point on.   Julian I liked from the very beginning.  He has that sarcastic wit.  Then he hit a few bumps in the road and I was disappointed.  But by the end he was back in my good graces. Julian and Cleo's journey together was a long, sweet, hot, and trying.  But it was a good one.  The epilogue is endearingly sweet and a perfect finish to their story. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher.

Color Me Crazy, Carol Pavliska Genre: Romance Review from Jeannie Zelos Book reviews.  I love rock star romance when its like this, a step up from NA.  Olivia Cummings and Kylie Scott being two authors that use older characters, not teens, and for older readers like me that’s great. I’m always looking for more works that run in a similar style but recently have had a disappointing run. Not finding anything else by Carol I hadn’t any idea what to expect, and after my recent let downs wasn’t hoping for too much. Its a fabulous read though, full of characters that feel real, have flaws, act just like we do, has a terrific storyline that kept me gripped and is well worth reading if you enjoy novels by the above authors IMO – its not quite as erotic, but a fantastic and romantic plot-line.  Julian – ah poor Julian, he’s one of those with such talent but using it comes at huge cost to him via the Synaesthesia that he has to such extremes, no odd pretty colours or scents, he gets bombarded with them to the degree that he gets almost catatonic. I so felt for him, he’s such a lovely man and coping with this and the pressures fame brought him nearly killed him. Then he meets his sister’s friend Cleo, and somehow he ends up not only employing her but opening up his home and letting her stay there.... Cleo – She’s great and such a klutz. I know how that feels, I’ve done so many things she has, where things just seem to fall over as soon as we look at them, and objects develop a life of their own. My mum used to say I was the only person she knew that would fall UP the stairs ( I fell down them often too!) Cleo comes from the “perfect” family and feels like an oddball, pressured to conform and yet with a strong streak of individuality, along with a weakness for musicians that got her into her current scrape, jobless and homeless, and how she ends up with Julian.  They spark off each other, fit together perfectly and are exactly what the other needs even though they are opposite – Julian like control, order, tidiness, his clothes are colour coded and arranged in order and even sticky notes are set out in order and pattern, and then Cleo bursts in to his life, and she is Chaos personified. Always wearing things that look like she’s thrown on the first thing to hand, clumsy and creating mess wherever she stands or looks it seems. Yet they work and I loved it when Julian finally recognised that. There was some amazing humour and sarcasm in this novel that lifted up some of the darker times, and kept a perfect balance. Then he’s off on tour and the pressures get to him. Cleo is so worried for him, and wonders if all they’ve got will fall apart. I just loved this part, the drama, the touring and rock star pressures. It felt like I was there with them. The band muscle, Sheik, was a terrific character and really helped Julian. I thought he was an important presence in the story. When things went wrong it was just as I love, a real drama, a tear-jerking moment that lasted for ages, chapters, beautifully drawn out. There were times when I thought they were going to work out, then some other misunderstandings would crop up and it was all so realistic, that when it finally worked I was so happy for them. There’s a short epilogue that was fabulous for wrapping up any lingering questions. I loved this read, and it will join the keepers files.  Stars: Five, a great story, full of emotion, drama and realism. I’ll be happy to read more from Carol.  ARC supplied by Netgalley.

Cleo and Julian were so much fun. I had never heard of synesthesia before reading this so I actually looked it up. The obstacles Julian has to go through in life are crazy. It's the only word I can use. I loved the relationship that forms with these two. I had moments where I was so sure I wasn't going to like Julian but he redeemed himself. Cloe is a strong, patient woman to deal with Julian. I don't want to add spoilers so if you read this you know what I'm talking about but I loved the three names used. It was cute! Okay, so this book had humor, romance, friendships and rockstars. The story line was great, it had a nice flow to it, and was well written.  a copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

I cannot say enough about this book.  I loved it 100%!  I love rock star, tattooed bad boy romances, and assumed that this would be another one like I had read before. (I figured I would love it)  However, although I did love it, it was not the same old same old.   Yes, there is a tattooed bad boy rocker, but he is different. Julian is not your typical bad boy.  He suffers from Synesthesia in which he sees sounds in color and can easily go into overload.  His sister has always been his shield, but what happens when she cannot  always be there? Cleo has been the one chasing bad boy rockers and now wants nothing to do with someone with a past like Julian, but sometimes what we don’t want is just what we need.  When life’s circumstances find her working very closely with Julian, so learns that lesson well.  But  is it worth it to ride the many colors in his life with the hopes of happiness, or will his life finally break her and leave them both broken  and lost? I would HIGHLY recommend this book.  I started it when I went to bed, but could not put it down until I was done at 4:00 am this morning.  It was wonderful.  It kept my attention and in the end, I want more by this author.  This book is not appropriate for young readers. (under 18) I give this Five Southern Magnolias.

Julian Wheaton was a famous rock star until his demons brought him crashing down. He hit rock bottom and then took back control. Now he owns a recording studio. His life long fight with synesthesia has made him vulnerable and a loner. Then he meets Cleo Compton who has always had a thing for rock guitarists and hires her to be his studio manager. Will his life ever be the same? This story has it all - love, forgiveness and healing. The dialogue and characters are amazing. Carol Pavliska's writing captured the characters' emotional depth. I was pulled into a story that broke my heart and educated me at the same time. Synesthesia or colored hearing is real and it can be devastating. Julian and Cleo were larger than life. The were meant to be together. I read late into the night. I had to see how it ended. Carol Pavliska wrote an amazing story. I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest and unscripted review

It’s rare to find a contemporary romance that is equally hilarious, steamy, and touching, but Carol Pavliska’s debut, Color Me Crazy, has got it all.  I laughed out loud too many times to count, even though parts of the story are heart-wrenching.  It was fascinating to see the life of a rock star done honestly, without romanticizing the negative sides of the music industry.  Yet, the music itself that Julian lives and breathes is definitely celebrated.  Julian is my favorite character, with his synesthesia deftly woven into the story without being overblown.  The characters are so well-developed that I feel like I know them personally—I sure hope to see more of them in the future.  This book reminded me a bit of Susan Elizabeth Phillips, only funnier, sexier, and edgier.   I loved the story and can’t wait to read more by Ms. Pavliska.
