Description: This second edition of an examination preparation guide and its online resources provide all the appropriate review materials for the National Board of Respiratory Care credentialing exams. This is an update of the 2013 edition.
Purpose: The purpose is to help prepare readers for the NBRC credentialing exams. Given less than 70 percent of new graduates in the U.S. pass one of the NBRC credentialing exams the first time around, this is a valuable resource for those seeking credentialing.
Audience: The audience includes new respiratory therapy program graduates and existing certified respiratory therapists seeking their registry credential. The authors are unquestionably experts in the field of respiratory care.
Features: The guide is broken down into two sections. The 17 chapters in section I are devoted to corresponding NBRC written and clinical simulation examination topics. Each chapter beings with a set of objectives, which cover the topics shared across all NBRC credentialing exams. This section also covers "What to Expect on this Category of the NBRC Exam," which breaks down exam questions by percentages. A pre-test helps readers focus on specific areas of study followed by Essential Content sections, which are replete with images, tables, graphs, and information boxes. Section II covers the Clinical Simulation Exam (CSE) preparedness and uses text, boxes, and algorithms. The guide is very thorough and easy to read.
Assessment: This is an excellent test preparation guide for the NBRC credentialing exams. It is highly recommended!
