About the Author

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, and a retired kindergarten teacher, Susan found her muse at the Renaissance Institute at Notre Dame of Maryland University, a non-credit college for people over fifty. Never having embraced writing in high school or college, she began writing poetry, prose, and haiku, which ultimately led her to write her first book, Susie and Me Days: Joy in the Shadow of Dementia. Susan finds writing both stimulating and therapeutic. Now that her second book, Confronting Chordoma Cancer: An Uncommon Journey, has been published, she is considering challenging herself again by delving into writing books for children.

In addition to writing, Susan is a volunteer support group facilitator for the Alzheimer’s Association, Florida Gulf Coast Chapter. She has committed to become a volunteer peer guide as part of the Chordoma Foundation Peer Connect mentoring program. Susan is the mother of two sons, and stepmother to a son and daughter. She and her husband have eight grandchildren, and currently reside in Sarasota, Florida.

A portion of the profits from this book will go to support the Chordoma Foundation. This non-profit organization is working to improve the lives of chordoma patients by accelerating research to develop effective treatments for chordoma, and by helping patients to get the best care possible.
