J.D. Robb has taken a new idea and fleshed it out. While her last two have been good but more of a rehashing of old plots. This one is fresh and new. From a simple murder masquerading as a OD comes a complex plot leading to a total takedown. We also see the return of old favorite charactors

Huge fan but this book didn't have the same voice. While I loved the plot, it almost felt like it was ghost written or co-written. The opening & old anicillary characters felt disconnected from the book (with the exception of Crack). Even Roake felt off (no Irish phrases whilst he & Eve were initimate). A bit disppointed in this offering. It lost a star for the ghost written feeling but gained a star for the plot.

It took me a while to get into because the thought process seemed to stay in Roarkes point of view for good portions of the book. Then the point of view switched to Summerset, Peabody, and other characters. It only switched to Eve’s point of view and felt like an In Death book the last few chapters. It wasn’t a bad switch just one that took some adjusting to. It was nice to see character growth amongst all the characters and the deepening of the relationship to each other throughout the book. But at points I felt if I had to read the word connect or connection again I was going to start a drinking game in those words honor. Overall the book was good once you realized it was building to whatever is next for the characters. The first part of the book as with the last few have felt like a different authors voice with the end being Nora’s. With Eve’s sadness at the end I wonder if we are heading for then of the series or a change in the job or a child on the horizon.

I enjoy all of her books. This one was a little different as it was more of a true crime tale instead of a crazy serial killer or psychotic futuristic conspiracy. A very good read.

Great story line and characters. Glad to see a bit of some people we don't see as often any more. I am always anxiously awaiting the next book!!!

Not up to Robb’s usual works. No suspense, no psychological drama.

A solid book after a couple others that seemed a little forced.

They just get better and better. The only bad thing is the long wait until the next book.

Bad thing about JD Robb's books are you can't put them down, read them too fast, and have a long wait for the next one.

I really enjoy this series. The main characters of course, but also all the secondary characters. I even named my cat Mavis Freestone! The relationships grow and become even more enjoyable.
