I found this book to be far from boring (I don't think the previous reviewer even read the same book!!!). It is an extremely well written story with great characters, that are extremely likeable. Ben Hood is a great character who gets into all sorts of trouble. Thr setting in far North Queensland in Australia is stunning. A fabulous read. I can't believe that it was free. Keep up the great work Drew Linday and keep writing stories that feature Ben Hood as the main character.

Im going to actually write a review-since that is what this is for. Unlike the roleplayers cluttering this up with fake ratings. I found this book to be very slow moving. I couldnt get into it and didnt finish it. After 70 plus pages I just had to give up. I really cant recommend this book. Sorry.

I found it far from boring. This was a very good book and so far, love all the Ben Hood series. They should definitely make these into movies. It would be awesome. Right up there with the Jesse Stone movies. Thank you again, Mr. Lindsay!

I did, in fact, read all 660+ Nook pages in this book. I admit to some speed reading through overly long detailed descriptions. Unfortunately, for the first 200 pages I was bored to tears. The characters were unlikeable and the plot was all over the place. It finally got better after Ben took the private security job guarding a movie crew. The scenario seemed unlikely, and I started to care about the characters. If you have a lot of extra time and want a good (not great, but good) story for free, then check this out. -AvidReader

This was a very good book. Just enough mystery to keep it interesting, but not too gruesome.

Another good book by this author. I read Black Mountain affair first and it is better than this prequel, but this still does disappoint. Needs a little bit of editing but the minor problems are not enough to distract feom reading. Overall, it isa good story. There is better character development in the second book but this stillprovides rich story and beautiful descriptions. I am someone that likes the more descriptive writing because I like to be able to picture it and put myself in the story. Well worth the read and hey, it's free!

Couldn't put it down. Loved that there were more to come. The Australian lingo is a little ruff at first but cool.

This is the first book in the series, but I read the second one first. The author definitely gets better with the second book and I can't wait to start the third. I thought the story moved right along and loved reading about Australia. My only complaint would be the abrupt way the story concluded, with short, choppy sentences on what occurred with the characters. Loved that this was free! Also loved the references to Steve Irwan - he is still sadly missed!

Ben Hood is a good guy, but for some reason, he seems to be a magnet for trouble. This book takes you through corruption, suspense, and romance. This adventure of Ben's was pretty good, kept you on your toes, and only had a handful of grammatical errors. It's 662 pages had a good flow to it and at times had me laughing out loud. This is the first book about Ben with more to follow. I'm on to his next story.

Ben is a character I can't relate to but I like to read about. This novel was fast-paced and exciting, although slightly far-fetched. It came off as pretty beleivable. I will likely read more of this series. Two knocks are the too-rapid conclusion and repeated grammatical errors. ?...wjj

Drew Lindsey has created a flawed character that is interesting but not as realistic as intended. His ex-cop turned private security seems more teenage boy than adult male. Still, the story line is good even if the writing style lacks maturity. This is the first in a series and I believe Mr. Lindsey will improve with time.

Drew Lindsay has again written another thrilling novel. Ben Hood is a fantastic character that everyone loves. He is like Bruce Lee but even deadlier. If you are looking for a new author you will not go wrong with Drew Lindsay. I have never been to Australia but reading his novels makes me want to book my next vacation out of the USA
