"You're going where?" Liam Keller looked in disbelief at the curvy blond surgeon who had saved his life.

Well, he tried to look at her, anyway. After his fight with Mathis Blackwell the night before, he was in piss-poor shape, one eye swollen completely shut and the other barely a slit. The rest of him ached like holy hell too — that damn Buck had really done a number on him. Still, he tried to focus because what Samantha Becker was telling him was more than a little troubling.

"I'm going to Vegas to a trauma convention, which was where I was supposed to be all week, until I got sucked into going to your weird little town instead. How are you even awake?" She frowned at him. "There's no way the anesthesia should have worn off this soon."

"Shifters heal quickly." Keller made a dismissive gesture and winced — his right arm was in a cast and felt wrong somehow ... probably broken.

"Don't do that! You shouldn't be moving at all right now." Samantha's lovely voice took on a stern, no-nonsense note. "You nearly died last night — I was in the OR eight hours trying to save you. Don't go screwing up all my hard work."

"Yes, ma'am." He sketched a salute with the other hand and wound up wincing again — this one had all kinds of wires and tubes attached to it. What the hell had Samantha done to him in the OR while he was out cold — turned him into the Bionic Man? At the moment he felt like he had more hardware coming out of him than the exit of a Home Depot.

"I told you, don't move." She put out a hand — presumably to hold him still — and her fingers touched his bare arm.

An electrical shock ran between them — but not the kind you get from static electricity. This was more of a sexual charge — a sensual lightning bolt that crackled between the two of them, electrocuting both with pleasure. Keller bit back a growl and felt his shaft go instantly hard under the thin hospital gown some bastard had put on him while he was unconscious.

Samantha gasped and jumped back, looking at him as if he'd just groped her. Her scent — lovely and feminine, though not the scent of a Rejuvenating female — suddenly intensified and took on a hot note Keller's sensitive Cougar nose couldn't miss.

"Hey!" she exclaimed. "What did you ... how did you ...?"

"I didn't do anything," Keller growled. "That, my dear Samantha, is what is known as a 'telling sign' among Shifters."

"A telling sign? What the hell is that?" She looked angry and uncertain.

Keller sighed. "It means you have the Gene," he said simply. "The Shifter Gene."

"No, I don't," she denied quickly. "That weird pharmacist, Fiona, told my sister Sadie that if I hadn't started the, uh, Rejuvenation process by now, I probably don't have the Gene."

The Shifter Gene was carried by both male and female Shifters. In males it became activated around age eighteen or twenty — the age of sexual maturity. But in females, the Gene didn't activate until they were somewhere in their late thirties to early fifties. And it would only become active at that time if the woman was single or hadn't been sexually active with a man who claimed her as his own for six months. Once it activated, though, it didn't stop — it rolled back the clock by twenty or more years, restoring the Rejuvenating female — or "Juvie" as Shifters called them — to her early twenties. Not only that, it induced a state of hyperfertility, forcing the female Juvie to get bred by a willing Alpha male or die during the full moon.

Samantha knew all this — Keller knew she did because she'd been in his bar, The Cougar's Den — where her sister, Sadie, had explained it to her. She hadn't believed any of it, however, until both Keller and Mathis Blackwell had Shifted into their animal forms and fought nearly to the death.

My death, Keller thought with another wince.

But more even than his defeat at the hands — or hooves to be more accurate — of his rival, Keller was worried about the look of denial on Samantha's lovely face.

"I don't have the Gene," she insisted again.

"Just because it hasn't been activated doesn't mean you don't have it," Keller said patiently. "In fact, that little 'jolt' that just passed between us when you touched my skin is proof positive you do have it. I'm an Alpha and your body recognized me as a potential mate — the telling sign is a wake-up call, letting you know a male who can meet your needs is in the vicinity."

"A potential mate?" Samantha gave him an incredulous look. "Dream on, buddy. You're what — twenty-eight?"

"Twenty-six." Keller spoke with as much dignity as he could muster.

"Okay, well I'm forty. As in the big four-oh. And in case you haven't noticed, I'm not Rejuvenating like my sister Sadie did. Besides, I thought it was her you were interested in, not me."

"I was interested in her reproductive potential," Keller said stiffly. "And I didn't want her to become an Unformed — a female Shifter who has no animal shape to shift to during the full moon."

"I know what an 'Unformed' supposedly is." Samantha frowned. "But you don't have to worry about Sadie. She's life-bonded to Mathis — whatever that means — and already talking about having his babies." She made a face.

Keller raised an eyebrow at her.

"Do you object to her being with Blackwell or 'having his babies,' as you put it?"

"I've got nothing against Mathis — he seems like a really nice guy, unlike some people I could mention."

She gave him a look he supposed he deserved — he had locked her and her sister up in his bar to try and force Sadie to mate with him. But that was only because she was the first Juvie that had been seen in his hometown of Cougarville in almost a decade. Juvies — Rejuvenated Shifter females — were incredibly rare and valuable since they were the only females able to reliably pass on the Shifter Gene and bear the next generation of Shifters.

"So it's the 'babies' part of the equation you don't like?" he asked blandly, being careful not to let his face show any emotion.

"I'm not a baby kind of girl." Samantha shrugged. "Never wanted any of my own, and I guess I can't figure out why Sadie would want to start all over again when she just got her twins off to college."

"I see." Again, Keller kept his face blank, but in the back of his mind he heard another voice saying, I don't want this baby! I can't have it — not now! With an effort, he pushed the memory away.

"We seem to have gotten off topic," he said to Samantha. "The point I was trying to make earlier is that you do have the Shifter Gene, and it could still potentially become active. Which means you should stay near an Alpha male who could help you if you started feeling the breeding fever."

"An Alpha male like you, you mean?" She raised an eyebrow at him. "Didn't we just establish that you are way too young for me?"

"I'm not quite so young and inexperienced as you seem to think," Keller growled. "I gained early admission into MIT at age fourteen. Following that, I got an MBA at Harvard Business School. By twenty-one I had taken my family's company public and our stock went from selling at seven dollars a share to two hundred a share almost overnight. By twenty-five —"

"That's all very impressive," Samantha said, cutting him off. "But it doesn't change the fact that you're fourteen years younger than me." She sighed. "Look, I really don't have time for this. I have a plane to catch to Sin City, where I'll hopefully have time to do a little sinning of my own before I have to give my lecture."

Keller felt a wave of possessiveness rise in him at her words — which made no sense. He had no claim on the woman before him — nor did he want to. He told himself he was only upset because Samantha was proposing to walk into very dangerous territory with no way to defend herself.

"You say you're giving a lecture?" he said, trying to keep his tone light and even. "What's it about?"

"My personal methods of snatching a Sabertooth cougar from the jaws of death after he gets his stupid, furry self trampled by a huge prehistoric stag." She arched an eyebrow at him. "Too bad you can't be there to hear it — it's really cutting-edge stuff."

"You're hilarious," Keller said flatly. "My point is, can someone else give the lecture for you?"

"What?" She frowned. "Why would I ask someone else to give it for me?"

"Because Vegas isn't safe — not for unmated Shifter females, and especially not for a Juvie," he growled, losing his light-and-easy tone.

"We've already established I'm neither one of those things," she snapped. "But even if I was, what makes Vegas so much more dangerous than any other big city?"

"The Hyenas," Keller told her. "They're some of the most ruthless and greedy Shifters around."

"So they literally turn into huge prehistoric Hyenas?" Samantha asked. "What does an Ice Age Hyena even look like?"

"Actually, they're mostly half-breeds who aren't welcome in other Shifter communities," Keller explained tersely. "They tend to have more Hyena blood in them than anything else, so that's what they're called, even though it's not strictly accurate."

"Half-breeds?" She frowned. "How is that possible? I thought a female Shifter — a Juvie — turned into whatever animal the male who, er, bred her was. And then they stick together. So how —"

"Half-breeds happen when Hyenas go on raids," Keller said tightly. "When they rape a female Shifter from another clan to make more half-breeds like themselves."

"Rape?" Her eyes flew wide.

"Hyenas are completely amoral — they have no problem with rape. Or with capturing other Shifters, drugging them, and shipping them off to the government, or even private testing facilities for their own gain. I'm telling you, Samantha, don't go there. It's not safe."

"Oh please." She made an incredulous face, as though she thought he was just trying to scare her. "You expect me to avoid a whole area of the country — arguably the most fun area — just because there are a few Shifters there you don't like, and there's an off chance they might target me if a gene I possibly have suddenly becomes active? I don't think so."

"Let me go with you then, if you're so set on going," Keller said urgently. "You'll need someone to protect you if one of the Hyenas sniffs you out."

The sharp, critical look on Samantha's lovely face softened for a moment.

"Look, Keller — I'll be the first to admit you're one damn impressive and imposing specimen when you're on your feet. But you nearly died last night — you're not going to be up to protecting anyone for a long, long time. Just stay here and heal up, okay? Relax."

"How can I relax when I know you're going into danger?" Keller demanded. He wished like hell he could get out of the damn hospital bed, grab her by the shoulders and shake her for being so willfully ignorant.

"First of all, Vegas isn't dangerous unless you have a gambling problem, which I don't," Samantha said, frowning. "Second, I'm a grown-ass woman and I can take care of myself!" She glanced at her watch. "And I'm going to miss my plane if I don't go right now. It's a long drive from here to the airport."

"To hell with this!" Keller started trying to get up despite all the tubes and wires and casts that covered him, but Samantha pointed a finger at him menacingly.

"You stay right there and don't give the nurses any trouble or I'll leave orders for them to give you an enema every hour on the hour. I promise you won't like that one damn bit. You might be a huge muscular guy who can turn into a horse-sized cougar, but I am in charge here. Got it?" Keller just glared at her.

"Got it?" Samantha repeated sternly. "Am I making myself clear? And are you going to behave?"

"You're walking into danger," he growled. "For an intelligent, highly educated woman, you're acting very stupidly."

"No, the only stupid thing I did was to come back here and check on you," she snapped. "I'm leaving now, Keller, and I don't expect to hear from you again. You can follow up with your regular doctor for any physical therapy or after-care treatment you might need."

Before he could say anything else, she left, pushing open the door of his ICU room and leaving him to fume in silence.

Well, that was interesting. Samantha settled in her airplane seat and prepared to take a nap. She'd been up all night saving the life of that ungrateful asshole Keller, and she was dead tired. Only she couldn't seem to get comfortable. She couldn't get Keller's bruised and battered face — his one good eye blazing at her — out of her mind.

Why was that?

He's an asshole, she told herself uneasily. He was just trying to scare you. Forget it. Forget him and his whole crazy town and everybody in it. Well, except for her twin, Sadie, that was.

How in the world her sister — who had always been the most stable, sedate person in the world, with the most boring, normal life anyone could imagine — had gotten herself mixed up in the plot of a real-life monster movie was more than Samantha could comprehend. Or no, the Shifters weren't monsters exactly, she supposed. It was more like they had an animal side — one which could literally come out in the open on full-moon nights.

And somehow, now, her sister was one of them. According to Sadie, she could now change into a beautiful doe to complement Mathis's huge, scary, prehistoric buck. The buck Samantha had seen the night before — she was still trying to forget the image of her sister's new boyfriend ... mate ... or whatever he was — changing from a human into an animal that had been extinct since the last Ice Age.

Of course, Keller changing into a cougar the size of a draft horse had been pretty damn impressive too. Not to mention terrifying. Samantha still shivered when she thought of the six-inch fangs and deadly claws he sported in that form. He was scary enough as a man — he had to be six foot seven if he was an inch — with the muscles to match his large size. But as a Cougar, well ... he was in a whole different league.

It had taken all Samantha's courage the night before to approach the massive beast Keller had changed into after Mathis's buck had trampled him almost to death. Sadie had tried to warn her that he might be dangerous — that a wounded beast was far more deadly than a healthy one. Samantha had known her sister was right, but somehow she couldn't help herself — she had to save him.

She still remembered approaching him, the huge, furry side with its tawny fur heaving for breath. His fur had been bloody, his immense body wounded, trampled, and torn. He'd been lying on his side, and the one eye she could see had rolled up to meet hers. It was the same silvery-leaf-green color as Keller's human eyes. In it, Samantha had thought she'd seen human intelligence.

"I'm not going to hurt you, buddy," she'd murmured, trying to make her voice soft and soothing. "Just want to take a look and see if I can help. Okay?"

To her surprise, the immense, furry head had nodded once, though it clearly hurt Keller to make the movement. That one surprisingly human gesture in the huge beast had given her the courage to put her hands on him and assess his injuries — which had been massive and traumatic.

Samantha still didn't know how he had survived being so savagely trampled. One eye had been nearly torn from its socket, his liver had been lacerated, multiple bones had been broken, and she was almost certain he was going to lose one of his kidneys. Still, he had hung in there and today, after an eight-hour surgery, he was awake and trying to get out of his bed in the ICU to keep her from going to Vegas.

Too bad somebody can't bottle some of the Shifter essence, or whatever it is that makes them so freaking unkillable, Samantha thought, finally closing her eyes as the plane taxied down the runway in preparation for liftoff. Drug companies would make a fortune off it.

Then the plane lifted into the sky, the G-forces pressing down against her entire body like a giant hand, and she gave a contented sigh. Unlike many people who have flight anxiety, Samantha had the exact opposite reaction to flying. Being up in a plane was usually quite restful for her — maybe because she was in the one place where she couldn't be called in at the last minute to perform emergency surgery. Just knowing that she was out of reach and completely free of any obligations relaxed her completely.

This flight was no exception. Pushing the thoughts of her troublesome patient and her sister's new, strange situation out of her head, Samantha took a deep breath and let herself drift off....

I enjoyed book one in this series, but this second one just wasn't for me. We met Liam and Samantha in book one and this began right where it left off. There were two reasons this one didn't work for me. One, Samantha was very adamant about not wanting to become a shifter and had no desire for a man in her life, as well as a baby. The whole book Samantha pushed Liam away even after they were basically forced to Mate. I don't mind a little pushing away in books but this was too much for me. The second reason is, I really didn't like the scene when Samantha was kidnapped. There was no rape but it still didn't sit well with me. I wouldn't consider this a safe read. The author came up with a unique version of shifters and I did enjoy the first book. It had a lighter tone to it, so I would recommend book one. There will be a third book and I'm hoping it will be more like the first. ARC provided by NetGalley.

Loved Buck Naked, but love Cougar Bait more. Another win for Evangeline. Hmm. Keller is sexy, secretly sensitive and badass, but Samantha holds her own over and over again.

I use to be like Samantha when I worked in the corporate world so I was able to relate to her character with complete compassion towards her reactions to various events and her insistence regarding her career. But there was a point I did want to knock some sense into her regarding her thoughts toward Liam Keller. But just like life I sat back watching as events unfolded causing chain reactions to her characters' further development as she opened her mind to the possibility of things being outside the ordinary. Liam Keller, Alpha cougar and bad boy from book one, shows another aspect of his personality in this book and the reader will feel a shift in who or what they believe about him if they read it. Don't let this stop you from reading this book if you haven't because this book works as a standalone in my opinion. Liam is just plain hot, hot, hot and the love making scenes between them are even hotter. There are some scenes between Samantha and a Hyena Shifter that are a little dark but it fits into the story and didn't distract me from continuing to read it. The author does a phenomenal job in the setup and continuance of this series so I am looking forward to Cooper's story which seems to be next. Because she created a world that is not only sensual but one of a kind I give this 4 stars. Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

**Received ARC from NetGalley for a fair and honest review** Cougar Bait is the second book in the Cougarville series, this can be read as a standalone with no issues, but you will probably get more out of it from familiarity with the secondary characters by reading Buck Naked first. Though I'd definitely urge you to read Buck Naked as it's definitely worth it!! I'd rate this book at 4.5 stars! Dr. Samantha Becker/Sammie is a hot shot trauma surgeon who's sister Sadie's mate fought Liam Keller and severely wounded him. When nobody else would go near the badly injured cougar, Sammie has no hesitation in going to him and ultimately saving his life. Liam Keller owes Sammie a life debt since you saved his life. When he finds out she's going to a trauma symposium in Las Vegas he's not too thrilled especially since he's still in the hospital. But when she refuses to listen to him, he will take matters into his own hands. These books have a different spin to shifters then I've seen before which I've really enjoyed so far. I enjoyed the characters and the fact that the female doesn't just up and fall in love. There are some interesting twists to the story, no cliffhangers and ends in a HEA. I can't wait for the next story in the series, I will definitely be reading it!! One thing I really enjoy is the author doesn't just end the book and leave you feeling like it just stopped and your missing something. Overall fun, sweet, read with a little bit of suspense!! Happy Reading!!

Cougarville is a place where shifters find mates and women of a certain age become 'rejuvenated' (called Juvies by the townspeople), regaining their youth and often going through a breeding fever if they are unmated. As the second story in this standalone series (though it starts right where book 1 ended), we got a glimpse of the two main characters in book 1, Buck Naked. Samantha is the twin sister of Sadie, the heroine of Buck Naked and Liam is a prehistoric Sabertooth cougar shifter and the mayor of Cougarville. Samantha's shifter gene hasn't kicked into action yet, but on a conference trip in Las Vegas, she's attacked by a hyena shifter and induced into expressing the gene, resulting in an explosion of hormones and an intense desire to bear a child. Fortunately Liam comes to her rescue. Samantha had saved his life in Buck Naked, and now he has a chance to return the favour. He's a bit of a villain in the first book, and it was nice to see him get redeemed here. This story is a little more over the top than the first one with the breeding fever Samantha goes through resulting in some unpleasant side effects, but still a fun and sexy read with some action packed scenes. The world building is explained very well and not complex so it's easy to follow along and the action of the first book is explained so new readers to the series get caught up quickly. Cougarville is living up to a pretty sexy reputation, and I look forward to reading more in the series!

Cougar Bait, Evangeline Anderson Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre:  Romance, Sci-fi and Fantasy I was intrigued by this, hadn't read book one but each seem to be stand alone reads within the same world. I didn't really enjoy it though, found the premise a bit odd, the rejuvenation gene stuff was...strange. Its not unknown, a kind of variant on how in some readers shifters and vampires etc. when turned revert to their prime age, usually mid twenties/thirties but this was just a female only thing and felt a little weird to me. I hadn't read the first book but I don't think that mattered. I found it strange that Keller kidnapped Sammie and her sister mainly for her sister, to get her to be his mate, bear his children (book one). Now in a matter of days ( I think - could be weeks, but I'm going by the battle between him and the deer shifter) he's transferred that feeling to Sammie...nothing like making a lady feel second choice. It wouldn't endear me to him.  Sammie's having none of it, she's had a world change in her views and accepts that things she thought weren't real are, but Keller. Nope, he's deluded, he's too young, he wanted her sister first and she's not interested. I'd feel like that too. However he's not deterred especially when she puts herself in the cross-hairs of some evil shifters.  There's a lot of sex here and I'm always OK with that in a book if it fits the story. For me it doesn't in this one, its just there to spice things up, add some heat and just felt wrong, not integral to the novel but an addition. I just can't see Sammie doing such an about change in view, and the further into the story I got the more detached I felt. The events at the end were just the final; straw for me, so unreal, even for the supernatural where usual timelines don't apply.  It's one I thought would be great for me but which I just couldn't get along with. It's very similar though to many of the current best sellers in the way the story plays out, so for many readers it will be perfect. Sadly I don't like most of those and didn't enjoy this one ;-(    Stars: Two, not one for me.  ARC supplied for review purposes by Netgalley and Publishers

Cougar Bait is fun, sexy and will take readers on an emotional thrill ride. Review: I have read the first book in the series and I liked it and I liked this one too. This one for me had a different feel to the book, which was good. I thought this was much more tense and action-packed. So the blurb is vague and does not give away a lot of what happens to Sammie in this book so I will try to not give away a lot. Back to the book. Besides the tension and action going on, mostly to Sammie, I loved Sammie and Liam together. At times they were sweet, antagonistic, funny and super sexy. I am going to leave my review with this, I liked this story even more than the first, it was more rich in the storyline and leaves the door open for a continuing mystery through the series. I loved the ending and cannot wait to see what happens with Sammie and Sadie and we have a perfect lead-in to the next book. 4.5Stars *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book provided by the publisher.*

Cougar Bait (Cougarville book2) This is the second book in the Cougarville series by Evangeline Anderson. Although it could be a stand alone it is really meant to be read in order as much of the setting, character introductions and mystery of Cougarville is set up in book 1, "Buck Naked". These shifters have a whole different set of rules, they stem from prehistoric versions of their animal selves (Liam is a prehistoric Cougar), plus the mating, passing on of shifter genes and how the gene is expressed in the females is different, original and intriguing. I enjoyed this book even more as the story took us to places outside of Cougarville and introduces the readers to a whole world of shifters (good and evil) outside of the town and reveals exciting underlying plots that will play out in future books. This is Samantha and Liam's story. Samantha's twin sister Sadie has moved to Cougarville and discovers she has a dormant "shifter gene" which becomes activated shortly after her move. The exciting thing about this gene being activated is the female becomes "rejeuvinated", literally becoming 20 years younger (not a bad side effect). Sadie now mated with Mathis, is a shifter like him and already pregnant. Samantha as her twin possess this shifter gene but it doesnt activate when she visits her sister in Cougarville. In the first book Sammie, a top trauma surgeon, saves Liam's life after he gets injured in a dangerous fight in shifter form. Up till this point Sammie is not impressed with the over confident pompous Liam who appears to only want to find a "jeuvie" to mate so he can pass on his shifter gene. Sammie makes sure Liam is stable and informs him she must get back to her life as a surgeon and quickly get to Vegas to catch up with a conference she was to speak at. Liam is reluctant to let her go, especially to Las Vegas where it turns out for a female shifter is very dangerous without protection. There is a whole underworld of other shifters, evil hyenas, an underground market of abduction where they are selling shifters, and/or doing illegal scientific testing on them. Liam turns out to be so much better than when we first meet him. Yes he is an overconfident alpha, but turns out he's also incredibly intelligent, educated, and very rich from his many ventures ( as well as being the mayor of Cougarville and owner of the local bar). He's also a very hunky hot protective male that refuses to allow Samantha to be exposed to such a dangerous situation. She has activated his protective instincts as well as some other feelings. Sammie is a great female character, she is smart, accomplished and well recognized in her field. She has no need for a serious relationship, no desire to settle down and have kids, and thinks Liam is off his rocker with all this talk of danger, latent shifter genes, kidnapping etc. Liam and Sammie are both very drawn to each other, Liam seeing his future mate, Sammie seeing him in a very different light as she learns more about him. She is quite surprised to find Liam in Las Vegas ghosting her every move to make sure she is protected. Of course he is also determined to charm the lovely doctor. The building sexual tension is off the charts. Danger, evil shifters, suspense, add to the excitement of the story as an evil plot reveals itself and tries to get Sammie as their first test subject. A wild ride and highly original storyline ensues. With all the excitement the relationship between Sammie and Liam take some

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! This is the 2nd book in the series, and it is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content. In this book, there is the sensitive topics abduction and threat of rape. I mention it for those readers who may be affected by these topics. I also highly recommend reading the books in order because it makes it so much more together!! This is Samantha’s story who is Sadie’s twin from book 1. When I read a new author, my love for them tends to grow as I read a series. Well I’ve fallen for Evangeline’s work completely in love with it now! She had me from the start with this book. There is tons of action, build-up, treachery, saving, and romance. There is also plenty of good news. Sammie is amazing and strong in character especially with all the battles she has in this book. I love her fighting spirit and that she doesn’t give up though she does get scared and occasionally stupid, but so does Keller. Keller has been hurt in the past, and you can tell in the story how much it still controls him. There are miscommunications galore, but thankfully they have friends and family to help them get their stuff together. I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series! I really hope all the characters continue to be a part of each other stories because I love them all! I highly recommend this unique shifter world to all fans of shifters especially if you love all kinds of shifters!

Looking for a laugh out loud, suspense filled paranormal romance? Look no further - this is  a great, well written read with plenty of drama, a variety of shifters and, of course, romance! After her sister went to stay in Cougarville, life changed for both sisters. For a start, her sister proved to have a very special shifter gene which had a dramatic effect on the alpha males in town and caused Samantha Becker to go visit- but you’ll have to read book one to find out more about that! One of the alpha males they met was the town’s Mayor, Liam Keller, who is a cougar shifter and a secret billionaire and he’s determined to protect Sammie, even if she doesn’t want protecting! Sammie is a trauma surgeon who doesn’t believe she has the special shifter gene like her sister, even though Liam insists she has. She’s also determined to attend and give a lecture at a special convention but Liam believes she’ll be in danger and takes his own steps to protect her, especially from the hyena shifters! This is an action packed page turner with lots of hilarious moments as well as some dramatic, dangerous encounters. I thoroughly enjoyed escaping into it and hope there will be more in the series in future. Cougarville has some great characters as residents - Palaeolithic shifters who are absolutely huge - and I suspect more of them will be meeting their mates in future! You’ll also learn more about the effects of the special gene . . . . what a great and very different idea! If you enjoy paranormal romantic suspense with some steamy moments you’ll probably, like me, thoroughly enjoy this series, too.  I requested and was given a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it.

A totally unique take on a shifter romance and I enjoyed it a lot! Evangeline Anderson obviously has a great imagination to come up with this unique take on the whole shifter angle! Loved it! Although this book clearly is a continuation of the first in the Cougarville series, I didn't really feel like I was missing that much by not having read it first. So I feel that it can be read as a standalone - although I'm sure some things would be explained more by reading it as well. Good story development, mystery, romance and an interesting overall story that made me want to look out for book 3 to see what happens next! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book via NetGalley.

Love the titles that Evangeline gives her Cougarville stories. First in the series was Buck Naked which one has to read to get the inference. Cougar Bait starts off where Buck Naked ended with Cougar shifter Liam Keller badly injured and being cared for by surgeon Samantha Becker. Samantha is forty years old and proud of her career in medicine. Liam is a successful, wealthy shifter who wants only one thing - an heir to carry on his legacy. Juvie Gene plays a part in unlocking a fountain of youth and changes lives forever. Wonderful story line that has its own twist in the paranormal romance world. Evil Scientist warning! "A copy of this book was provided to me by St. Martin's Press and author via Netgalley with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read and my comments here are my honest opinion."

Cougar Bait by Evangeline Anderson Cougarville #2 We meet Dr. Samantha Beck in the hospital taking care of her patient Liam Keller. She is a 40 year old surgeon who doesn’t want to marry, have children or do anything to jeopardize her professional life. Liam, quite a bit younger than she is, wants a mate to pass his shifter genes down through. Liam is drawn to Samantha and for most of the book I really don’t see what attracts him to her. She is abrasive, negative, b*tchy and not someone cuddle-up-to-ish at all. For some reason Liam fears for Samantha’s wellbeing and follows her to a conference in Vegas where he saves her the first time. He saves her again at least two more times and in the process he falls hard and she continues to resist having anything to do with him – to the point that I thought they might be better off going their separate ways – and yet – as abrasive as Samantha can be – who else would want her? Perhaps a hyena shifter? Anyway, if you are looking for your typical shifter story this is not going to be that at all. This is one in which older women come into their own, get rejuvenated and find men to mate with that are much younger than they are. NOTE: There is violence, attempted rape and other things happen that could be triggers for some. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press – Swerve for the ARC this is my honest review. 3.5 Stars

3.5 Stars 'Cougar Bait' by Evangeline Anderson is book Two in the "Cougarville" series. This is the story of Samantha Becker and Liam Keller. I have read the previous book and Samantha and Liam do meet first there. Liam was being attacked by Samantha's future brother in law after Liam kidnapped Samantha and her sister. But Samantha is a Doctor who quick went to save him and that opened up a friendly communication between the two. After all Samantha did save his life and now Liam feels protective over her...not to mention that his 'Cougar' feels something more for her. But when Samantha heads of Vegas for a Speaking Convention he knows she will be in serious trouble there. Even though Samantha doesn't believe it she had the special shiftier gene that all shiftiers would love to possess, and to pass on to their children. There is some dangerous shifters in Vegas so Liam follows Samantha there to keep her safe but can he? "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."
