This is the best story that Carolyn Brown has written. It was so heart warming and sweet that I laughed and cried that is saying a lot since I’m not a person that cry’s much. The children in this story really made you feel and fall in love with them. The main characters were real and very heart warming. I look forward to more in this series.

Carolyn Brown has a way of bringing out the inner romantic in readers, especially in myself. Cowboy Bold is no exception as Cade and Retta fall in love over a summer at Longhorn Canyon Ranch. Every summer Cade invites a group of underprivileged kids to the ranch. His need to find a new counselor to lead the girls is the perfect opportunity for Retta to get her feet back on the ground. Even though her life has been put on hold due to her father's sickness and death, her determination to start over shows the strength of her character. She's a character you immediately want to find happiness and love, even if she might just have to change her plans a bit. Apparently, the new friends she makes on the ranch feel the same way as they push her and Cade together. Cade is one of the sweetest cowboys I've had the pleasure to 'meet'. Everything from his outlook on giving back to his community and the desire to help those in need, like Retta, added to the pleasure I received while reading this story! It's an amazing series starter and really sets the tone for following books. I loved the sense of welcome found at Longhorn Canyon, especially for the kids who never had anything for themselves, or positive role models in their lives. The kids, and cuddly animals, are really involved in the story and make a great impression by the story's end. It's similar to RaeAnne Thayne's style of involving kids and puppies to keep the plot lighthearted and basically give you happy vibes! Carolyn Brown is expert at infusing life and diversity into her characters. I've only read a few of her books, but none of them felt like a repeat of the last one I read. I certainly enjoy picking up her stories, new or old, knowing that I'm about to walk into a new town of fresh faces with quirky, down to earth personalities. There's always a touch of sweetness to her romances that I just can't get enough of and I'm so eager to venture back to Longhorn Canyon Ranch in the next one! *ARC provided in consideration for review*

Retta Palmer needs to find a job, she left her big city bank job to move home and care for her ailing father and wound up spending every penny she had to pay off all of his medical bills while she was there. Now she needs to take a job to get her bank account back in the green, so she can move back to the big city and resume her big city dreams; then a little miracle of sorts falls into her lap... a rancher is looking for a camp counselor. The job sounds perfect for her, well sort of, she has some counseling experience, and much like the children who will be attending the camp she too knows what big city life is like, which she hopes may make it easier for her to connect with them. But when she arrives on the ranch for her interview, and meets her new boss, she begins to wonder what she just got herself into... As soon as Cade meets Retta he knows she is perfect for the counselor position he has available, and in the perfect climate she might also be perfect for something else, but he isn't in the market for love or dating. He still has marks on his heart from the last time he tried that and he isn't about to wander down that road again, not to mention she has big city dreams in her eyes, and him and city girls just don't mix. But after a few weeks of working alongside one another will he still think the same thing? Cowboy Bold is a heartfelt tale that will put a squeeze on your heart and leave you totally smitten with a certain sexy, and stubborn cowboy! This was a fun little weekend literary escape, the characters were wonderfully crafted and quite entertaining and the story line was outfitted with many moments to make me smile and swoon!! Definitely a great start to a new series, I highly recommend this one, it's western romance at it's best!! I requested an advanced copy of this title and I am leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

Carolyn Brown pits a woman who thinks she's a city girl against a cowboy who's afraid to trust in this fun romance. There are lots of wonderful characters, including kids, in this book. I rapidly turned pages to find out how they would resolve their differences. There are plenty of humorous moments too. This is one of my favorite books by Carolyn Brown!

Review written by Marie for Ever After Book Reviews! There’s just something awesome about a good, cheesy romance. Cowboy Bold fits that bill perfectly. Our hero, Cade, is determined to throw himself in to his ranch. His goal in life is to help people find themselves and teach them the value of working hard and simply. He is determined to keep himself single and unattached to women. That is, until Retta walks in to his life. Retta is the heroine of this story. She is trying to move on from the death of her father and lands the job of Counselor at the Longhorn Canyon Ranch. She is unsure that she is a fit for the job, but when she sees her new boss, Cade, she can’t stop thinking about him. And here is where their whirlwind romance begins. Of course, every romance needs a little help and reassurance… and this is where the kids that Retta and Cade are trying to help come in. These kids are wonderful secondary characters and their sweet personalities made this story so poetic and sweet. This book is full of tender moments, touching life lessons and more than a few laughs. It was a heart-warming read that made me cheer out loud for Cade and Retta (yes, like I said… super cheesy). I sincerely hope there are more books to come in this series, because I will eat them up in a heartbeat! ***I voluntarily read a copy of the book generously offered by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Longhorn Canyon is a place I would love to go. I enjoyed the characters in the story. They were all people I would like to know and would be happy to have as friends. The main characters Cade and Retta were meant to be. You could see that they both filled a hole in each other's lives. I loved their interactions through the whole story. The kids in the book made the story extremely fun. The book was heartwarming and left me feeling happy. I would recommend. I look forward to more books in the series so I can catch up on all the characters. I received an advance copy in return for an honest review.

Retta's father passed away and she had to sell the family ranch to pay his large number of medical bills. She's a farm girl at heart, but working in the city's always been her big dream. For a few years it became reality, but when her father needed someone to take care of him Retta moved back home. Because she needs to work and the interview for her old job is a few weeks away, Retta applies for a position of counselor for the girls who are staying at Longhorn Canyon Ranch during the summer. When Cade, the owner of the ranch, meets Retta he hires her on the spot. Will she have a good time working at his ranch? Cade is still getting over being jilted. He doesn't think he will ever be able to deal with so much heartbreak again. That's why Retta's presence at the farm proves to be a challenge. He likes her a lot, but they're both grieving and therefore they aren't ready to get involved with someone. Retta is magnificent when it comes to guiding the girls of his program and she's well loved by both the boys and the girls who are staying for the summer, but is she also perfect for Cade? While looking after eight challenging kids, sparks fly between them. What will happen when it's time for the children to go home, will Retta also leave and return to the city? Cowboy Bold is a wonderful romantic story. Cade is a chivalrous man with a good heart. He loves looking after the children of his program and enjoys letting them spend several weeks on his farm each year. They are all kids who could use a break and that's exactly what he offers them. Retta instinctively knows how to handle each situation and she's a terrific asset to the ranch. She's loving and attentive and I enjoyed how she's protective of every single one of her girls. I admired her strong personality, her large number of useful skills and her sassy attitude. I liked the combination of romance and a meaningful program, it works incredibly well. Carolyn Brown has an amazing heartwarming writing style. Her stories always make me smile and they all have that perfect feelgood reading factor. I love the many emotional layers, each of them is spot on. Carolyn Brown also knows how to describe true love. Her stories are filled with meaningful connections and beautiful bonds. One of the things I loved the most about Cowboy Bold is the beautiful friendship between a large variety of very different main characters. Carolyn Brown combines a gorgeous alluring story with a stunning setting, which made it easy to completely fall in love with Cowboy Bold. I highly recommend this mesmerizing enchanting and charming book.

Honestly, I wasn't really sure about this book. First time reading the author. The blurb attracted me, as did that hot cover, so I thought-give it a whirl and I'm so glad I did. What a great story, I loved the characters, the plot, the kids, the ranch, the animals the list is endless. I loved Cade and Retta. Retta struggling after losing her father and her family farm and everything on it. This was a summer job to hold her over until she got her old job back in Dallas in the banking business. The girl was raised on a farm and since it was just her and her Dad, could handle anything that came her way. Including the city kids that came to Longhorn for summer camp. When Cade's usual girl's bunkhouse helper begs off to go help her own daughter, he needs someone fast and Retta, is just perfect. The sparks fly from the moment they meet, Cade hires her, she drives home to pick up her feet meager belongings and returns to the ranch to settle in. Retta's still grieving hard for her father. Cade's still "getting over" a relationship that went south 3 years ago. He just doesn't let go. Other than the one off now and then at the local bar in town his life is the ranch. They don't have a lot of time to prepare Retta for the 4 girls and 4 boys coming from the city for the summer but it flows seamlessly as does their relationship. Cade is kind and loving and so good with the kids and Retta is a natural. The kids love her, although she commands respect and expects them to respect each other. What a great story to watch unfold with these kids who are just full of sass and fire, learn to help each other and work together. Love and discipline go a long way and same goes for Cade and Retta. There's not one thing not to like in this book. It's character driven, loaded with dialogue and interaction between the multiple characters but I loved it. I look forward to the next book in the series. Suffice to say, I'm hooked. 4.5 stars **arc from NetGalley and publisher for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own**

Every year a group of underprivileged kids are invited to Longhorn Canyon Ranch to experience the outdoors and learn some important life skills. This year Cade Maguire needs a counselor for the girls and Retta Palmer needs a temporary job. Sparks fly when Cade interviews Retta for the counselor job. They both want to ignore the attraction; Cade because he still isn't over his ex-fiancee leaving him the morning of their planned wedding and Retta because she is still mourning the loss of her father. But life goes on and both Cade and Retta slowly find their wounds healing and their attraction to each other growing. Carolyn Brown writes the best darn cowboys out there, sexy but sweet, hot but still a gentleman, loving but protective about it. She also writes the cutest kids in her books. In this story I fell in love with twelve-year-old Benjy who is a very intelligent, high-functioning autistic boy. He spouts statistics and endearing statements throughout the story. The rest of the "family" on Longhorn Canyon Ranch are all wonderful characters and I can't wait to read more about them as the series continues.

I always enjoy cowboy romances and this was no exception. This was my first introduction to Carolyn Brown and I will be reading more. I enjoyed all of the real life ordeals and lessons that she included in the story and how the characters worked through them.

Beyond the laughter, despite the tears there will be hope. Brown looks at life as a classroom. The hits keep coming, yet the lessons are never-ending. Cowboy Bold reads a bit like a country song, but uplifts like the chorus of a heartwarming hymn. Retta and Cade are each other's destiny. They don't know it, but their heart does. People and circumstance are the road map to who we are and it's pure tales like this one that have an impact on our minds and hearts.
