Cowboy Player was a hot & sexy read. I fell in love with Melody & Clark (Superman) right away. Their love story was sweet and came across so true to life. Just a really fun, quick read. This was the third book in the Cowboy Cocktail series but can be read as a stand alone. Advanced Reader Copy provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Clark and Melody have been friends for ever. Since moving back to town, she’s been helping out with his family business while putting her sister through nursing school. Clark has always been a player, but he’s finally ready to tell the only woman he's ever loved that he wants to be with her. The problem is she is really skittish after a bad relationship. Surprisingly I really liked this book. I was kind of iffy on it but I really enjoyed it. The characters were really well written. I'd love to read more from this author. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review

RATING 4.5 STARS Cowboy Player is book three in the Cowboy Cocktail series by Mia Hopkins. In this book we meet Clark MacKinnon of the sexy MacKinnon brothers. In addition to helping his brothers run the ranch since his father is ill, Clark is in charge of trying to find a market for their grass fed, hormone free beef. Melody Santos and her younger sister, Harmony, have been best friends with the MacKinnons since they were little. After her father died, Mr. MacKinnon made a promise to look after the girls and their mother. Melody spent her entire childhood running around with the MacKinnons but it was Clark that she was best friends with. They were co-conspirators, both in play, and academically in school. When they went to different colleges, Clark thought he lost her. But when Melody’s mother died, she came back to Oleander to help her little sister. Their friendship took right up where it left off. But then one night, all of that changed when Clark and Melody gave in to a night of steamy passion. Melody has been hurt, though, before by her previous now ex-boyfriend. She has serious trust issues. She vows this can never happen again. But of course, once they’ve had a sample of how good it is with each other, they have to have more. You know I’ve loved this series from the start and this one was no exception. This was a friends to lovers story. With Clark, though, he has always loved Melody. He just never let her know. Can they take the solid base of their friendship and build it into something more? Or are they destined to remain friends? One thing for sure is that the passion they discovered between them is off the charts! How can either of them walk away from that? I’ve definitely found an author I enjoy in Mia Hopkins and look forward to more books by her. Her characters are so easy to love and the sexy times are steamy and perfect. You know I can’t resist a sexy cowboy story and this one was just right!

Cowboys, second chances, and lots of beef, an interesting and fun combination by Mia Hopkins in COWBOY PLAYER. Hero Clark needs his long-lost love Melody to help him run his family’s last ditch effort to save their ranch by selling high quality beef to high-end restaurants but when things get too hot between them, Melody runs. The plot may be stock but the setting keeps the story fresh with the farmer’s markets and restaurants. Chemistry is good between the main characters and conflict exists just enough to keep us guessing. I enjoyed this twist on the usual cowboy romance. It’s part of the Cowboy Cocktail series so there are two earlier novels and more to come. A good summer read! Heat level: 3.5 Rating 3.5 stars

If you in the mood for a very sexy story about best friends that end up as lovers, then Cowboy Player by Mia Hopkins is for you. This is the third book in the author's Cowboy Cocktail series and it can be enjoyed as a standalone. Teacher Melody Santos and Rancher Clark MacKinnon have been best friends since grade school. After about eight years a part, Melody gives up her dreams and moves back home to ensure that her younger sister's nursing career is on the right track. Melody is in charge of the finances and in order to stay in the red, she takes on a few odd jobs during her summer break. Helping Clark sell his grass-fed meat at the farmer's fair in Los Angeles County, earns her a little extra cash and is fun. Clark and his brothers run their family's cattle ranch. Clark is smart, good-looking, and a known womanizer. His feelings for Melody run deep and as a result, they share a sizzling night together which leads to much more. From the moment they sleep together, Clark knows his days of playing the field are over. He wants Melody all to himself, however, convincing her to trust her heart will be a huge challenge. This story is all about how Melody and Clark evolve their platonic friendship into true love. I was able to connect with both characters easily and their sexual chemistry is off the charts. The secondary characters are fun and they added some humor to this hot novella. Complimentary copy provided by RockStarLit PR.

If you follow my reviews you already know how much I love Mia Hopkins' Cowboy Cocktail series, and this one is no exception. The third in the series about the MacKinnon brothers, this one brings Clark MacKinnon home where he finds Melody Santos ready, not quite willing, but available nevertheless. Melody is keeping an eye on her sister when Clark spots her sitting alone at the bar. Clark's childhood nickname is Superman, which is indicative of the humor in this novella. Clark and Melody don't waste much time getting in the sack but while her body is wanting Clark her mind is still on her sister and her needs. Another sweet story and one I'm sure everyone will enjoy.

A friends-to-lovers story--yay! I liked both Melody and Clark (aka "Superman"--how can you not?) and was rooting for them to get together from page one. It was a bit hard to reconcile Clark's playboy ways with his claim to have loved Mel since he knew what love was, but I was willing to go with it for the HEA. I think the story could have benefited from a longer format--the ending came up pretty quickly, and could have used a bit more development to get us there. Being friends forever definitely makes a quick-to-the-HEA story more believable, but even so Clark went really, really quickly from not even dating to...what he goes to. Maybe he used his super speed? ;) Still--an enjoyable read. I will definitely be continuing with the series! Rating: 3 1/2 stars / C+ I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

I always enjoy a good friends to lovers story and Cowboy Player had everything I look for – sizzling chemistry that makes you wonder why it has taken so long for the H/h to get together, a solid friendship that can withstand all the bumps that comes with a new relationship, and one seriously hot hero who knows how to take charge to get what he wants. Melody and Clark have been friends forever and it was so much fun seeing these two interact as friends. They bantered, teased, and could be merciless with each other – so much fun! Clark is a player, Melody has been hurt deeply by a past relationship, so when these two finally do cross the line it’s no wonder that they think keeping things as friends is best. Of course their attraction is red hot and it doesn’t take long for just once to turn into once more. Throw in a bit of jealousy and a grand gesture and this was one novella that delivered a full sized story! A great read that has me looking forward to more from this author! I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a quick, hot read. Melody has trust issues courtesy of an eight-year relationship gone wrong. Clark has never had a real relationship, just the friendship with Melody. One night, they cross that line, and there is no turning back. He needs to show her that she can trust him, that he will treat her with respect. Their connection to each other is strong, based in friendship, and becomes a stronger love. The end of the story brought tears to my eyes. I highly recommend this story. I plan to read more of Mia Hopkins.

Is a friendship strong enough to survive falling in love? Clark and Melody have seen the best and worst of each other. A relationship based on trust and truth has been the basis of their longstanding friendship for as long as each can remember, but bubbling below the surface are feelings that once exposed are the beginning of cracks that start to break through the strong foundation of a beautiful friendship. I received an ARC of Cowboy Player by Mia Hopkins in exchange for an honest review. As I read more from Ms. Hopkins the bonds of her stories run deep and true and the beauty of well written stories are hard to put down.

4 - "One night's not forever..." Stars! The third novella; Cowboy Player, in Mia Hopkins Cowboy Cocktail series was as enjoyable as its predecessors. I really liked Clark and Melody’s, best-friends-to-lovers romance, it was a sweet and sexy read. Melody Santos has returned to Oleander, after spending ten years in the city. Grieving the loss of her mother, her eight year relationship, and trying to keep her younger sister on the straight and narrow are the main constants in her life at the moment, that and work. Work to pay bills, her sister’s tuition expenses and pretty much everything else. "We’re friends… I don’t want to throw that away." Clark MacKinnon, her best friend throughout her child-hood has helped with the work part, but Mel is struggling to deal with the long buried feelings she had for him the more time they spend together on the road. What she doesn’t initially realize is that Clark feels the same way. "I think about you day and night. I can’t stop." Both shy of commitment, for different reasons, this was a sweet coming together for me. Although a quick read the author didn’t skimp on the chemistry between them and the sexy-times were original and well placed. I did find myself wishing this one was a little longer though. "I want you so bad it hurts." That-said all of the novellas in this series, have been really entertaining reads, perfect to slot into a few hours of free time, or if you are looking for a quick and sexy break from your longer books. "I think it’s the cowboy hat." I will certainly be keeping a look-out for more books from the author in future.
