Palacios is a feminist poet, published author, professional presenter, spoken word artist, workshop facilitator, polio survivor and empowerment specialist who utilizes the power of her words to motivate, inspire and educate the community about issues surrounding disability rights, sexuality and disability, women's issues and cultural diversity in general. Maria Palacios is the founder of Houston's Annual Women with Disabilities Empowerment Fair. She is also the author of a feminist collection of poetry, The Female King. In the artistic world she is known as the Goddess on Wheels.
