Critical Vulnerability (Aroostine Higgins Series #1) by Melissa F. Miller

A Nook Top 10 Best Seller!

In this smart, gripping thriller from USA Today bestselling author Melissa F. Miller, federal prosecutor Aroostine Higgins' most critical vulnerability is exposed.

Government records, medical equipment, elevators, security alarms ... they're all remotely controlled and monitored by computerized industrial control systems. It's convenient, efficient, and potentially deadly.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Aroostine Higgins has put her personal life on hold to join the Department of Justice's elite Criminal Division. She's about to prosecute a major bribery trial--one that could make or break her career.

But everything's going wrong.

Her pretrial motion vanishes from the federal court's electronic docketing system. Her apartment catches fire. Routine dental surgery turns into a near-death experience. By the time Aroostine realizes her string of bad luck is anything but random, the stakes are greater than the outcome of a high-profile court case.

Determined to win at any cost, a hidden enemy threatens to destroy her--and the only man she's ever loved--unless she can stop him. Now, it's personal.

About the Author

USA Today bestselling author Melissa F. Miller is a former attorney who traded the practice of law for the art of telling stories.

She is the author of more than two dozen bestselling legal thrillers, suspense thrillers, romantic comedic mysteries, and forensic thrillers. All her work shares two common threads: pulse-pounding, tightly plotted action and smart, unlikely heroines and heroes.

Her books feature such diverse protagonists as a pint-sized attorney and mother of twins who’s trained in Krav Maga; a Native American government investigator who relies on her heritage to guide her when the chips are down; a Buddhist forensic pathologist who refuses to harm any living creature; and a trio of twenty-something sisters just starting out in their careers who find murder and mayhem wherever they go.

I loved this book because it held my interest from beginning to the very end! I could not put it down especially the last couple of chapters. I could even feel the heat of the cabin on fire! Keep up the good work..Loved not having to wade thru graphic sex and a lot of smut language. Thanks for that because I could never see how that adds anything to a good plot!

The story kept my interest for the most part. There were some interesting elements, but the interactions between the characters left a lot to be desired.

Great story line and characters.

I admired Roo, a strong, intelligent, loving woman. Joe was weak. I don't care that he regreted sending her those papers. He told himself he was all torn up about, but picked up a woman in a bar anyway! Other than that a thrilling legal & cyber mystery.

I totally enjoyed this book. It took a lot of understanding of different jobs and training to make the characters and plot, as good as it was. I was sad when it ended. Good books are difficult to find.

Melissa F. Miller had me stumped until the end of "Critical Vulnerability" who I thought the mysterious person pulling the strings were turned out to be someone else. Every time I thought I would get some rest had to pick up the book to figure out who was placing barricade up to halt a Federal case.

It was just amazing. I loved the law, Indian lore and heritage, and the way her own personal story came out in the book. LOVE it.

Now this book isn't par withPreston Childs or Jack Reacher, Pendergast would so win after a fight with his strongest adversary but I enjoyed quite a bit. Suspense, assassins, hostages, hints of mob, intrigue with just a tiny bit of romance, perfect book for a perfect day.
