I very much enjoyed Ms. Langlais’s Kodiak Point series. Right at the end of the last book, Grizzly Love, there is a note from the storyteller who says it is time to go home, the swamp is calling him. It says “It’s time this crocodile stopped hibernating and faced the world.”
I had the usual blues because I had reached the end of a series I truly enjoyed, so I was excited to see the release of Croc’s Return. Sure enough, this is Caleb’s story after he returned home from his military service and self-imposed isolation. I had a lot of fun reading this story.
Caleb is a shifter, a crocodile shifter. He grows up in the bayou in a mixed community of various types of shifters and some humans. As a teen, he falls in love with Renny. She is human but her dad is a shifter so she understands him. However, he abruptly leaves town to join the military. Finally, after his disability discharge he goes to Kodiak Point until he heals emotionally enough to return home.
Although he will say he cut all ties to the town while he was gone, he regularly sent money home to his mom and younger brother. When he returns they welcome him but Renny wants nothing to do with him. However, since she wants to let him get to know his son she is forced to spend time with him. When his son sights a monster and there is indication that something is really there, Caleb goes all protective and brings the two of them home to his Mom’s.
The author has a sense of humor I can relate to.
I was given a free copy of the book and this is an honest review.

A good read at 160ish pages. One to the next book. I bought the first 3 on a whim. Just need to wait for the 4th to a Kents appearance.

Light read, fun, not a deep meaningful book.

What a story! Langlais has me gasping in shock, laughing at her characters` antics, and falling in love right alongside them. The story is vividly written, combining suspense with real life relationships. I enjoyed how Langlais wraps up this tale while still drawing you forwards into the next. I definitely can`t wait for more! I also appreciated the clarification on inter-caste mating and breedings. The dynamic manner in which Langlais develops her shifter culture and history gives a strong basis upon which this story (and the ensuing series) can build.
Not only was the plot of this novel intriguing, but the characters were riveting. The complex differences and difficulties that Caleb has with his animal half really set him apart from the rest of the shifters that we meet. Renny`s need to be there for her son yet her desire for more really shines through as she gets embroiled in the affairs of her hometown. The chemistry and hurt between these two created a dynamic that I thoroughly enjoyed. The pages sizzled as they healed from their pasts. I also thoroughly enjoyed their son. His insights and helpful thoughts put new meaning to the phrase `from the mouths of babes.`
The plot of this novel was fantastic, but the overarching plot of the series has me mesmerized. This is a must read for all lovers of paranormal romance.

~ 4 Croc’s Return Stars ~
Croc’s Return is book one in the Bitten Point series by Eve Langlais. Coming home brings with it a few surprise for our hero and heroine, a second chance at romance, and a mystery to solve.
To start I’ve never read a reptile shifter story before. It was different, unique, and enjoyable. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the different kind of shifter.
Caleb I loved him. I couldn’t understand why he left town, but as you read on you learn what haunts him and why he did what he did. Should he have left, no, but then we wouldn’t have our tortured hero. He’s a good guy trying to fix all the hurt he caused when he disappeared leaving behind his family and the one women he loved. I also really enjoyed his croc and the chats he had with his beast side.
Renny, she’s a strong women and I enjoyed her. She dealt with the past well and when a threat comes around she gets on board with being safe.
These two worked well together. The romance is slow at first, but they have a lot to deal with from the past. Once they get over that the chemistry sparked and we are treated to some hot scenes. I also liked the development and introduction to other characters in the town of Bitten Point. The little mystery surrounding the town and swamp lands, which brings a few surprises and helped Caleb come to terms with his croc was enjoyable. The mystery does not fully wrap up and looks like it will be carried on into the next book, so I am a we bit interested to see what’ll happen next.
Croc’s Return has some suspense, a sweet second chance at love, and some great surprises. I quit enjoyed the reptile shifter aspect and am looking forward to continuing this series.

An amazing start to a new series from a wonderful author! I loved this book. Most people would think oh no a reptile shifter and a crocodile to boot that cant be good. But man are they wrong. Loved everything about this book from the croc and his mate and son to the side characters who will all hopefully get a story of their own. Cant wait to read the next one!!

*bounces around in shifter glee* We have a Crocodile shifter, ladies! I love me some grumbly croc shifter. Noms! Croc's Return was a fun little trip into the swamp lands of Bitten Point. A second chance romance, a surprise or two for both the hero and the heroine, something nefarious lurking around town. It was a good time, indeed.
The quick of it is that Caleb royally screwed the pooch a few years back. Left town and pretty much dropped everyone in his world like a hot potato--he had his reasons--to join the military. But now he's back and ready to make amends. And oh the people around him...gonna give him one hell of a time. Not only that but somethings funky in town and shifters are being threatened by some unknown bad that's snatching them off the streets...
I loved Caleb. He's scared physically and mentally from his years in the military and he struggles with his inner beast and trusting himself. He was a good guy doing his best to fix all the hurt he caused years ago by disappearing. I loved his Crocodile self and his chats with his inner beast.
And Renny...I had my concerns about her but she turned out pretty great too. Once she realized there was a real threat lurking around she pulled up those big girl britches and got on board (for the most part) with playing things safe and dealing with the past in a pretty mature way.
I did like these two together. The romance is rather slow and there's very little actual heat since they were dealing with all those grrrargs from the past but the chemistry between them sparkled and there were a couple hot scenes.
There's a bit of mystery with a real funky big bad that added some nice suspense and led to Caleb coming to terms with his inner Crocodile. It was curious and while the threat was eliminated it looks like there will be some carry over into the next book with who was behind the big bad. Definitely has me interested to see what'll happen next.
Overall, Croc's Return was another win for Langlais. It's not as laugh out loud funny as some of her reads but it's got a little quirk, sassy fierce characters and a dose of curious suspense that'll keep me coming back for more. Nicely done.

She did it again. Eve Langlais has written another fabulous book. The croc is an unlikely shifter that really grows on you and makes you want a croc of your own. I think this book was wonderfully written and has a good storyline. I cannot wait until the next book in the series is out because I now want to know what is going on in Bitten Point. Thank you Eve For the great read and I cannot wait for the next.

Eve Langlais does it again! In this first spin-off of the Kodiak Point series Croc shifter Caleb goes home to Bitten Point. He runs into surprises and secrets he isn’t totally prepared for but he isn’t the only one who has changed. Croc's Return is filled with fun characters a twisted mystery and a sexy crocodile shifter. The swamp will never be the same. For those who think a croc can’t be sexy think again Caleb will steal your heart.
