About the Author

Michael H. Ebert, MD, is emeritus professor of Psychiatry at Yale University. He is a former chair of psychiatry at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, professor of psychiatry at Yale, chief of staff of the VA Connecticut Healthcare System and associate dean for veterans’ affairs at the School of Medicine.

Peter R. Martin
, MD, MSc, is professor of Psychiatry, Behavioral Sciences and Pharmacology and director of the Addiction Psychiatry Training Program at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.

Robert Ronis, MD, MPH, is psychiatrist-in-chief for University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center and professor of Family Medicine at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine. As a director of The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Ronis served as chair of the Psychiatry Council. He was also chair of five committees: Bylaws, Psychiatry Appeals Review, Alternative Pathways Oversight, MOC Examination–Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry Steering.

Sidney H. Weissman
, MD, is clinical professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern Medicine Feinberg School of Medicine, and a faculty member at the Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis. Dr. Weissman has served as the director of the psychiatry residency at Northwestern, president of the American Board of Adolescent Psychiatry, and president of the American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training.
