Editorial Reviews

NSTA Recommends

Children typically find "Daddy Long-Leg" spiders fascinating. This book will begin to answer their questions about the spider’s characteristics and life cycle. It includes brilliant, full-page pictures with labels; single paragraphs in large, clear type; diagrams; interesting facts; and key words defined on relevant pages.   This hard-cover book is written for reading levels 1-2 and has a table of contents, a glossary, an index, and lists of "Read More" resources and safe websites. Readers will also find a map showing where daddy long-leg spiders live and fact boxes on several pages. This book is suited for primary level instruction. However, I also recommend it to preschool teachers because daddy long-leg spiders are, for many children, their first contact with spiders. It would also be helpful for differentiated instruction and special education. Teachers will find the controlled vocabulary and comprehension features beneficial for students beginning independent research.   http://www.nsta.org/recommends/ViewProduct.aspx?ProductID=20488
