About the Author

Ronald E. Riggio, Ph.D. is the Henry R. Kravis Professor of Leadership and Organizational Psychology at Claremont McKenna College. He was for many years the Director and the “architect” of the Kravis Leadership Institute – a respected academic center that hosts an acclaimed annual leadership conference. He is widely published in the academic literature, is the author or editor of more than a dozen books, and is one of the longest-running bloggers for Psychology Today who launched the first leadership blog there in 2009 (“Cutting-Edge Leadership”).

Dr. Riggio is Co-Editor of a leadership book series (Leadership: Research and Practice, Taylor & Francis/Routledge), along with Cambridge University’s Dr. Georgia Sorenson; he has served as an academic journal editor; he is coauthor (with Bernard Bass) on a best-selling academic leadership book, Transformational Leadership), and he has a top textbook in Psychology (Introduction to Industrial/Organizational Psychology, 7th ed.). He has also published in the popular press. His first book, The Charisma Quotient, was published by Dodd-Mead in 1987.

Professor Riggio has served on the boards of academic societies in psychology and management and on the International Leadership Association (ILA). He was recently given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the ILA, and he is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and the Association for Psychological Science. He has served as a consultant and advisor to many leaders in business organizations, government, and nonprofits. And he has an active social media presence (LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.), and is regularly interviewed in the popular press.
