Set in a working-class Philadelphia neighborhood, Danny's Little Girl is the story of Danny Gallagher, his family and close friends. the main storyline is set in the fall of 2001. You are introduced to Danny, his father (Mr. Gal), his brother Jackie, his wife Katie, and best friends Jimmy, Pebbles and JFK. With the exception of Katie, all are life-long residents of the Grays Ferry section of South Philadelphia.Two life-changing events occur to Danny during this time. First, he finds out Katie is expecting their first child. Second, Danny is diagnosed with a brain tumor, an ailment he has fought in the past, and thought he had conquered. The plot twists and turns during that autumn, mixing in many flashbacks to past times in Danny's life, some hilarious and others poignant. These flashbacks provide hidden details of how the death of Danny's and Jackie's mother has altered their relationship, and why Danny and his best friends are so close-knit.
