Ann Gimpel does it again in Dark Pursuit, Book 2 of the Soul Storm series! I loved book1, and Dark Pursuit is even better. Fast paced and energetic, it keeps you at the edge of your seat from beginning to end. While this is not technically a romance, Lara and Trevor's love and devotion is remarkable. There is more paranormal which I really enjoyed. Lara, while still learning, is gradually starting to embrace her magic. The characters continue to develop. While it has it's share of heartbreaking moments, it has joyous moments too. I can't wait to see what happens in book 3!

Received this book free for an honest review. Holy Cow! Oh, wow! Heavy stuff here. Feeling like Alice falling down the rabbit hole. This book makes me sad, angry, cheer with glee, happy, scared and frustrated! I just can't wrap my head around a world like this, but outside the magical element, this world may see something like this if not already starting now. Hmmm. What will you do to help out Earth? To make this world a better place. Perhaps we could learn a thing or two from this series and take heed to its overall message of taking good care, if not great care, of this planet. I can't wait to see how this story ends.

A terrific 2nd book to the series "Soul Storm." In "Dark Pursuit" things for mankind have only worsened; shortages of fuel, food, electricity has spurned more rioting each confrontation worse than before. Lara and Trevor have left their home in the city and now live, in what they hope, is far enough away from civilization to keep them safe. But trouble seems to follow them. The detective who helped them before is now in trouble himself and seeks help from Lara, and even though she wants to turn away, her conscience won't let her say no. This leads her, Trevor and her mystical friends into far more dangerous waters. Can she and Trev0r bring forth their new found "powers" to help the detective. Will this bring more trouble to their door? Well in case you can't guess, the answer is a BIG YES. They again feel the sadness of loss when they lose when of their group to the evil that is entering our world. The demons are fueled by the out of control situation happening to mankind. Can they stop or at least slow down this evil from coming through. Will their marriage help as their mystical teachers and friends say it will? Their love for each other is as strong as ever and this strength helps them. Now the two have even more reason to learn as much as they can, for they now have another to protect. Pick up this second book to read everything between these lines I've written. And if you haven't read the first, well what the heck you waiting for. As for me, I'm grabbing the 3rd book to see what happens next.

Darkly Delicious!  I am completely enthralled with this series and I can’t/couldn’t wait for more, and Ann does not disappoint!  You know that saying about the follow up movie/book/album/etc. being…well not as good as the first?  Well they obviously have not read Ann’s books!  This book surpasses Dark Prophecy!!!  Love that it has more “paranormal” in it!!  I feel that having had the situation and circumstances well established in book 1 (Dark Prophecy) the story is now able to fully explore the paranormal, magical Psyche side of things.  Once the stage was set, so to speak, you now get to dig deeper into the histories of the magics & powers of not just Lara’s but the others as well!  I loved this book!  I LOVE getting to know more about everyone!  Not just Lara & Trevor, but the others as well – Lillian, Raven, Elidora, and Gren and how they all relate into this current equation / situation.  I find it so interesting how they all have a part to play whether anyone knows it!  I found myself intrigued with the psych/psyche part of it and loved that Ann wrote it at a level that anyone without a psych degree can still understand what it is all about, but not at such a “dumbed down” level that makes it boring or insulting.  I thought it was pure genius in how Ann tells us…well EVERYTHING!!!  You get the info you need when you need it, but at the same time you are not inundated with unnecessary info or lost because you don’t have enough & can’t figure out what is going on. It has the perfect blend of story, psych, people with psyche powers and enough mystery and love to drive you so deep into this book that you are at the end before you realize it!  I also find it very interesting that while there is a lot of love in it, this series is NOT a romantic fairy tale looking to find the HEA at the end of the rainbow!  There is definitely a lot of dark matter and subjects going on and yes, Lara & Trevor do have each other and that is a focus in a way, but it is NOT what the stories are about.  I usually do read romantic type books, so this was a switch for me, but it is very well written with just enough romance and love to make it feel more real.  I loved that Lara has some powers but she doesn’t know too much about them and that she also can’t decide IF she wants to know more about them or not!  Of course, that….well, you really do have to read the books to understand what I mean and I don’t want to spoil ANYTHING by adding my comments in here about certain people or situations!  I cannot wait for all three books to be released so that I can read them one after another!  I have a feeling that these books are those rare ones that you can read multiple times and STILL discover new things, understand something else, realize a situation all while still enjoying them as a whole!
