Where do I even begin ... I loved the underlying themes in this book. Both Dax and Asha have feelings of inadequacy (whether real or not). In addition, both seem to be loners with different methods of coping. In Asha's case, she tends to become bitchy and alienate others. Dax, on the otherhand, goes out of his way to be the life of the party, even though he's not really digging it. As book 2 in this series, I see a prevailing theme of the main characters not trusting themselves and feeling as if they don't measure up to expectations. I wonder if this theme will carry through to the rest of the series and if the parents and grandparents realize that they have reinforced this negative self doubt. It was nice to see Bryce and Tami's wedding and the positive reinforcement when Bryce asked Dax to be his best man. Dax had doubts about Bryce's reasoning and it was nice to see them discuss it and see the positive impact the conversation had on Dax. Since Dax hasn't had much positive feedback from anyone besides Asha, it was nice to see someone he loves and respects provide some. Gramps needs a little work with his tact, but I guess that's true for many in real life. I just can't believe he gets away with saying some of the things he says. I realize he's old school, but come on. And what is really going on with Brent? Only time (and more books) will tell.

Being born into a family of high achievers is tough, especially when you feel you don't measure up. That is the reality for both Dax Coulter, bad boy football player who was drafted by the worst team in the league, and Asha Wix, public relations wizard and high achiever, who has a gifted football player older brother and a father who is well known in the sport. When these two are brought together, they bring out the best and the worst in each other. But which will win out? This book is part of a series, but is easily a stand alone.

Enjoyed this addition to the series. Dax is insecure about being able to meet the expectation of his family name & the history of their successful sports careers. He's trying to be his own man, having a little "fun" is more important than maintaining the integrity of the family name. Asha is very independent, very smart and career-driven. Both try to resist the "forbidden" connection they have though. Dax & Asha make a great couple, both mature as they deal with their issues as a couple and discover what's more important to them regardless of family matters. It was great to hear from Bryce & Tammy, there's seems to be a mystery stirring about their father though.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it. This book is a slight departure from the steamy reads you are used to from Nana Malone. This book allows you to get to know the character and cheer them on to the end. You want these characters to succeed. Asha and Dax take sexiness to a whole 'nother level while trying to stay away from each other. There are many elements in this book. The whole Coulter clan; Damon, Asha's brother and Dax's best friend; Asha's co-workers and the team all play an important role in this book. I don't know how she did it so well but she definitely succeeds in this mission. I have not read Bryce yet but I will hopefully before the next book in the series comes out.

Nana Malone did her thing with book 2 in her new Playerseries. Love me some Dax, the bad boy, black sheep, and the football player like his grandfather. It was hard living up to that legacy. But he didn't care anymore until the day that Asha walked in and put him in his place. But she was off limits. She was his best friends baby sister. He owed Damn but the attraction between Dax and Asha was undeniably strong. He couldnt stay away. The sex scen were so hot and steamy. I love them as a couple. I love this story I wasn't ready for it to end. I'll be reading this book again soon.

Living up to everyone's expectations wasn't easy. I love football. Reading about this player who wasn't playing up to his potential was fun. Seeing him toe the line for a young woman who was used to working in a man's world and didn't need help keeping the hounds away made for a strong female lead with a cushy center underneath all that bravado. Dax came from an all sports family starting with his grandfather's football stardom. Then they had winners in hockey, tennis, and more. He didn't believe he could ever live up his grandfather's record. But he could be a star player—in the clubs and off the field. Asha had a family of sports names to live up to as well. She'd always been pushed and pushed herself. Graduating college two years early, she wasn't even old enough to drink and found herself following the player she was promoting into clubs. She'd earned this promotions job with her own reputation. The player was Dax. Not only was he as hot and the bad boy flirt of his reputation, he was her brother's best friend. They make a concerted effort to keep things professional but when the heart starts with trick plays it isn't easy. Will they be able to reach their potential without ruining their careers? Will he be able to get past his reputation? When big brother asks Dax to keep an eye on his little sister, an eye was all he wanted touching her. Dax doesn't always follow directions. Don't pass on this steamy love story with two lovers you will not soon forget.

Asha strong, determined, independent great lead character . . . Asha was the woman with a plan, determination, strength and use to being in a male dominated world. She had the balls to do the job but there was something else getting in her way this time around. Dax presented a challenge in more ways than just getting him to do his job to the fullest potential. The series is growing and showing us more. Waiting to see what will be next to turn the pages and add more depth to the Player series.
