Dax (Bad Boys of Willow Valley, #1) by Shannyn Leah

Dax Colyn is one of the bad boys of Willow Valley. A fearless volunteer firefighter and hard working, sexy mechanic, he makes all the woman swoon and he likes it that way. He keeps people at a distance since his mother died. He doesn't want to let anyone in, much less a woman he knows he could fall in love with.

Ava Anderson keeps people away, too. Haunted by her tortured past and constantly fearful of the future, it's only her daughter Olivia and Dax's dad Rowdy that she's let in.

But when tragedy strikes, it pushes Dax and Ava together, forcing them both to let go of their fears. They soon learn how hard it is to keep pretending and how easy it is to let others in. Especially when those people are family.

"Dax" is the first in the "Bad Boys of Willow Valley" series from author Shannyn Leah.

About the Author

Contemporary romance author Shannyn Leah loves olives, lip gloss and reading (and writing) romance novels. Her love of words started at an early age and soon grew until, during her teenage years, she’d started writing her own novels. When her mom pushed to finally publish some of the stories, she quickly amassed two complete romance series (By The Lake and Caliendo Resort series) and, in 2016, released her first Fantasy Romance entitled The Gatekeepers (Part One of the Winters Rising series).

When she’s not writing contemporary romance books into the early hours of the morning, Shannyn can be found antiquing with her two favorite people, her momma and sister, in their picturesque London, Ontario hometown.

Shannyn would love to get to know her readers as you get to know her (just don’t send her any carrots!)

Dax is my new favorite Shannyn Leah book. Ms Leah has delivered a well-written book. The story is fantastic and the amazing characters are perfect for this story. Dax is a volunteer firefighter and auto restoration shop owner. Ava is a single mother and school teacher. Their story is full of drama, action, suspense, humor and spice. I totally love this book!! Olivia steals the show with her cuteness. So many things about this book that I like, hard to pick what I like best. The characters, the humor, the story itself. I can't decide, I just love it all. Do yourself a favor, read it for yourself and you decide. Dax is book 1 of the Bad Boys of Willow Valley Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Contemporary romance isn't usually my thing but I enjoyed Dax and Ava and little Olivia. Dax is the typical player and Ava keeps men away because of a traumatic past. She is a single mom to Olivia and when Dax meets Ava he feels something for her. I usually don't like contemporary romance because I feel that they're all the same but this one was good. There was a nice backstory to Ava and Olivia and it kept my interest. I definitely want to read about the rest of the guys now. So maybe this will be my go to contemporary romance author. Sometimes it's nice to branch out. If you like this genre then you'll like this book. Be prepared to want to slap both Dax and Ava at times, but hey, life is difficult and we all take time getting where we should be!! Received a free copy of this book from the author

4.5 star Review Dax (Bad Boys of Willow Valley #1) by Shannyn Leah This is book one in Shannyn Leah’s latest series and I really enjoyed reading it and it is all about Dax and Ava. I sit here writing my review and sighing over Dax. Although rather annoying at first but (I thought he was an absolute jerk) he soon grew on me. Ava, I really liked and her daughter Olivia, she made me smile. Both Dax and Ava fight to keep a reign on the feelings, neither looking for a relationship. However they don’t count on fate which brings them together more and more and when tragedy strikes they begin to see each other in a new light. Slowly but surely these two friends become involved and romance blossoms. But will they both be able to overcome the fear that a relationship brings them and learn to trust not only themselves but each other? I like that Ms. Leah doesn’t write perfect characters, they are real, they have flaws and this is a strength that I find in her writing style. Dax is at times an emotional read, which saw me laughing and crying, a sign of a book that drew me in and kept me interested. I am looking forward to reading more in the Bad Boys of Willow Valley series.
