Enjoyed reading the book. It was suspenseful and has exciting characters.

Hang on for fast paced action in this final novel in Dani's Chesapeake series. Once you start reading you won't be able to stop. Love the action and suspense wrapped up in Luke and Kate's story as well as finally getting the killer of Jenna, Griffin's kid sister and Parker's first love. More importantly, I love the way Dani weaves into the storyline the importance of the main characters personal relationshipwith Christ, even the imperfections and the struggles wrapped up in the doubts. This walk of faith isn't a cakewalk, it's a walk full of struggles and at times doubts and you see that in Luke and Kate. If you love suspense romances you are going to love devouring this novel.

Romantic Suspense at its finest. This book is the fourth and final installment of Dani Pettrey's Chesapeake Valor series. This is Luke and Kate's story. But it is also a dual story because Griffin and Finley are working on Jenna's cold case murder. So, it definitely is a page turner with clues and leads and twists. I am a huge fan of this author and have read all of her books. I give this book 4 and a 1/2 stars. *I was given this book by the publisher Baker Publishing via netgalley. This is my honest opinion

Terrific suspense, so much so that I finished it in one day. This is the last in this series, and it’s sad to see it end. The group of main characters throughout these books feel like a family, and it is a thoroughly enjoyable, suspenseful series. The last book can be read on its own, but I do recommend reading the entire series. This book has two separate mysteries/ storylines taking place. It increases the pace of the book and made it a real page turner for me. Plus I had been looking forward to Luke’s story, and it didn’t disappoint. This is a well done mystery/ suspense read as Dani Pettrey continues to produce! I received this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

This is the final book in Dani Pettrey’s “Chesapeake Valor” series and I was so excited to read it! Especially after the cliffhanger at the end of “Blind Spot.” I had to know what was going to happen! As always with Ms. Pettrey’s books, this story is fast-paced and action packed keeping me reading through traffic lights and lunch breaks. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book, but it was definitely a compelling read! One of my favorite things about Ms. Pettrey’s books is how she keeps the pace speeding along. In this case, there are dual storylines at play, something I really enjoyed and that indubitably amped up the suspense. Though I did find the story a bit disjointed at times, when it would switch between mysteries. The time-frame for the story is rather short, so it definitely moves quickly, in more ways than one. I did appreciate getting to follow Luke and Kate, searching for a terrorist, and Griffin and Finley, searching for a murderer. This author definitely has a way of leaving the chapter with just enough of a question or cliffhanger to keep you racing through the pages, having to know what’s going to happen next. I’ve enjoyed getting to know Kate over the past three books and have been so looking forward to her and Luke finally getting their story. Kate is strong and independent, with a stubborn streak that is potentially wider than Luke’s. But she also has a vulnerable side that is revealed with Luke’s return. Luke is strong and determined to finally finish the war he’s been fighting for years. He’s become disillusioned over the depths of deprivation he’s seen and is looking to find what is real and good in the world, again. I greatly enjoyed getting to know both of them better and following them through their journey. Ms. Pettrey did an excellent job of bringing them to life and making them seem more like old friends than characters in a fictional story. Overall, I quite enjoyed the journey and would highly recommend it (and the whole series) to anyone who likes mystery and suspense. *My thanks to the author for my complimentary copy of this book! I was not required to write a review, positive or otherwise, and have not been compensated for it in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is book four in the Chesapeake Valor series, even though it is a somewhat stand a lone book you will miss a lot of the history and understanding by just jumping in with this one. Plus the entire series is amazing. So start with book one (the entire series just makes for better reading and understanding if read in order). If you are not one to like books that lead into another you may not like this series, (however now that we are in book four you don't have to wait for the next one to come out). But if you love Suspense, Mystery, handsome detective/marshals/PI etc... type books you will love this one. The entire series would make a great four part movie or mini series, just saying. I fell in love with all the characters in this series from book one and love how they all play such important rolls throughout the series. Dead Drift will focus on the illusive Luke Gallagher, who went missing seven years ago, leaving behind all his friends and the love of his life, Kate Maxwell. Kate has never believed he was dead and has loved him and been mad at him all at the same time. When Luke must join his long time friends and the women he has never stopped loving, there is excitement, suspense, romance and so much more. I love the writing style of Dani Pettrey and this novel does not disappoint.

I remember reading the first book in this series and hoping Kate would find Luke, the man she had never stopped loving. As Dani Pettrey has progressed through the stories of various members of this special group of friends, Kate refused to accept that Luke had simply walked out of her life of his own volition. Now he is back, but is he going to stay? Seemingly there are more questions about his return than there were about his departure. So many things start happening and the entire team seems to be under fire. Of course, they are all involved in law enforcement and are fighting a common enemy. The action is fast-paced and the suspense is over the top. Along with this war against evil incarnate, two of the team are taking vacation time to try to find and apprehend what they have determined to be a serial killer. They have a vested interest because all signs indicate the killer is the same one who killed Griffith’s sister eight years earlier. So the book alternates between the two stories with the reader wondering if there is going to be a connection between the two. Besides the suspense and intrigue, I enjoyed how the team members always had the backs of each of the other team members. I especially found the camaraderie of the team members appealing. Even as their faith in God was tested almost to the limits, they just dug deeper and drew closer to Him.

Fabulous conclusion to the Chesapeake Valor series! Luke and Kate's love story is as powerful as the non-stop action. Highly recommend!

Dani Pettrey knows how to build great suspense from the first page and keep it going to the very last! She has done it again in Dead Drift, the thrilling conclusion to her Chesapeake Valor series. Book three in the series left things at an extremely tense spot . . . and this one picks up right at that point and takes off running. The characters Dani introduced us to from the start of book one have continued to develop in their relationships and contributions to each element of the story. This final book brings together important pieces as the members of the group fight some of their biggest dangers . . . and Kate and Luke try to find what is salvageable from the past. I suppose you could read Dead Drift as a stand-alone, but so much would be missing from the story. If you haven't read the previous books, do your best to get your hands on all four and then settle in for a great ride on the edge of your seat! Thanks to Dani and her publisher for providing a copy of the book. I am happy to share my own thoughts in this review.

There are some authors who never disappoint and some highly anticipated books that always live up to their pre-publication hype and Dani Pettrey and Dead Drift fit these descriptions perfectly. I am thrilled that this is the way that Pettrey has chosen to end the Chesapeake Valor series. Luke Gallagher has finally come home and he and Kate Maxwell are being given a chance to sort out their feelings and resolve some of the issues that two people will have experienced after being separated for seven years. This final book also allows the other characters from the previous three books the chance to deal with Luke's return. All of them have developed close bonds with each other and their relationships are allowed to play out as they work together to capture a deadly terrorist. Dani Pettrey possesses a real talent in creating memorable characters and creating realistic interaction among these characters and this is especially true with Luke and Kate. Kate is reluctant to lose her heart again and continues to resist Luke's efforts to repair their relationship. I love how he "courts" Kate with heartfelt words. "And it will take the rest of our lives for me to make things right, but please, Katie, give me the chance. I'm only asking for the chance." (p. 214) She also pens some powerful prayers that allow Luke to show his Christian beliefs. "Thank you, Lord, for your patience with me, for never ceasing to love me. Please equip me to serve you wholly. I pray I make it through this mission, and that I get to spend my life at Kate's side. Amen." (p. 219) Dead Drift is the fourth and final book of Pettrey's Chesapeake Valor series but she has offered enough background in it to keep readers from being lost if this is the first one they have read. The other books don't have to be read but they certainly deserve to be! Dead Drift is filled with danger, adventure, conspiracies and nail-biting escapades but most of all, it has an abundance of love, hope, and the reminder that we all are promised God's love, we are all worthy of forgiveness and we all can experience His Grace and forgiveness! I received a complimentary copy from Bethany House. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is the conclusion to the Chesapeake Valor series and I was not disappointed. I could not put this book down. I did some laughing and crying. I love how Kate and Luke finally get back together. I am glad they were saved for last. This had twists and turns and lots of suspense. I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

Dead Drift is the first book that I have ever read by Dani Pettrey and it most certainly will not be my last! This is the conclusion to the Cheasepeake Valor Series, but I’m definitely going to have to pick up the other books in the series. This is one of those books that will make you question whether or not Kate and Luke will find their way back to each other and if Ebeid will ever be caught. If you enjoy suspense, then perhaps you’d enjoy this one. This can easily be read as a stand-alone, I did, but I did find myself confused for a while about who was who. With that being said, I would recommend starting from the very beginning before starting this one. Although none of the characters are actually related to each other, they have such a great chemistry and family dynamic. So many of the characters had backstories from the previous books that I wanted to learn more about as well. This was an excellent and well-done multidirectional plot. There were at least two different storylines happening within the one story. Declan and Luke are best friends who are both trying to bring justice to the world. Declan’s younger sister was kidnapped and killed and he is on a mission to find her killer to unravel an even bigger mystery than he ever imagined. Luke is back and weary after years of isolation and having observed first-hand some of the evilest situations the world has seen. Kate is weary to let herself open her heart to him again. Luke will do anything he can to get Kate to trust him again and longs for her forgiveness so that they can be together. Overall, I enjoyed this a lot. Easily a quick read. I read it in about a day so I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a fun suspense series. Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher for my honest review, which I have given. I was not required to write a positive review and have not been compensated for it in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.

The Chesapeake Valor series is an epic, binge-worthy romantic suspense brimming with perilous escapades and tender moments. Let your mind feast on intense investigations as simmering attraction and blossoming relationships set your reader heart aflutter. As former best friends, Griffin, Parker, Declan, and Luke, reunite through professional collaboration, they seek answers to not only their joint and tandem investigations but also vow to solve the mysteries which bind them together. Each man faces unique personal and professional challenges along the way, including matters of faith and love. Luke is weary to the bone after years of an isolated and lonesome lifestyle and intimate observation of mankind’s evil underbelly. Kate’s relentless search for her lost love reaches an abrupt and unexpected end. Luke longs for her forgiveness and craves the future he sacrificed for the greater good. Pettrey’s masterful storytelling weaves intricate investigations with complex intimate relationships in a delightfully complex multidirectional plot. I have already begun rereading this intense adventure and I highly recommend the Chesapeake Valor series. I am eagerly anticipating future works from this author! I borrowed book 1 through my local library and received a complimentary copy of books 2-4 from the publisher. I was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions expressed are my own.

I have to admit that after I finished Dani Pettry’s novel Blind Spot, I scoured the internet until I found when the next story, the final book in the Chesapeake Valor Series, would be released. Dead Drift certainly was worth the wait. This novel is brimming with suspense, mystery, and romance. There were so many strong elements in this story that I’m having difficulty pinpointing where to start! But because I’m a sucker for a great romance, I’ll start with the love factor. You get a glimpse of Luke and Kate’s romantic history earlier in the series, but their rocky relationship takes center stage in this story. CIA operative Luke Gallagher had always loved Kate Maxwell but his decisions had left her heart wounded and his soul dark. One of my favorite lines of the story was: “To Luke, home had become far more than a physical dwelling. To him a home was where his heart resided, and she was sitting three inches to his right.” There was both witty banter and deep conversations between these characters. It was moving to see how Luke’s past choices had affected Kate’s ability to trust. These two worked together in pursuit of exposing a terrorist plot all the while trying to sort out the rifts in their own relationship. The suspense element was fast-paced and engaging. It was unpredictable and filled with surprises. As a reader, I love when I can’t guess the ending! The story was the grand finale of a spectacular series. Props to the author for crafting an intricate plot but writing it in a fluid way so I never got lost or confused. I was sad to see this series come to an end, but I look forward to more from this talented author. *I received a copy of this story from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

What a stunning conclusion to the Chesapeake Valor series! This is a book that definitely needs to be read in order, as book four of a series that builds upon itself. It was thrilling to return to these wonderful characters as I read Dead Drift. Now, I want to go back and read all four books back to back and catch anything I might have missed the first time around. They really are so good! Dead Drift was especially touching as it was a “return of a lost love” storyline. Kate and Luke were in love in college and then he disappeared. Now Luke is back and there are some hurts that will be hard to overcome. I thought the author did a great job of showing two people who still loved each other, yet had to battle against the resulting heartache that came from Luke’s long ago decision. Dead Drift not only had great romantic tension, it also had lots of action taking place in two different storylines. One team was working to diffuse the imminent threat to the nation that brought Luke back into Kate’s life. The other plot involved closing the loop on the ongoing storyline that linked all four books together and involved a serial killer who preyed on young women for years. This book and entire series is one that I highly recommend for fans of romantic suspense! I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Seven years. That's how long Luke Gallagher has been chasing terrorist Khaled Ebeid. That's also how long it's been since he's seen Kate Maxwell, the girl he had loved since they first became friends in high school. While not seeing his family and other friends in seven years hurt, not seeing Kate left him hollow. Now the threat is on US soil, and he not only needs the help of his friends, but he needs Kate's skill as a hacker to help him find, and neutralize the threat before thousands die. Kate has felt betrayed for seven years. She's never stopped looking for Luke, positive he's still alive. She can't believe he would have chosen to leave the life they'd planned, but when he walks back into her life, and announces that there is an imminent terrorist attack coming, and he needs her and the rest of her law enforcement friends' help to catch those responsible, her anger and astonishment compete with the love she still feels for him. As they work together, will they survive the nearly constant barrage of assassins to follow the breadcrumbs and shut down the attack? This book was like reading two separate suspense novels in one. The main story focused on Luke and Kate and their hunt for Ebeid. The secondary story followed Griffin & Finley McCray, as they searched for the man who killed his sister, Jenna eight years ago. When Griffin learns from a PI that there are more girls who were murdered in much the same way as Jenna, he realizes that he may have a serial killer on his hands. When the PI is murdered before Griffin can talk to him, he's sure of it. The secondary story, was actually continued throughout this series, and gives the characters in the books their main reason to be in law enforcement. This was a fantastic conclusion to the Chesapeake Valor series. Luke and Kate prove that obstacles are just something to find your way around. I loved that the characters from the first three books all had active roles in this one, and that we got to see that the matches made in those first books are still going strong. Be prepared when you start this, because once it gets rolling, you won't want to stop reading until you're done!

Dead Drift Brings it Dead Drift by Dani Pettrey is the final installment in the Chesapeake Valor series and it does not disappoint. In fact the words “saving the best for last” were humming through my mind as I was reading this one. You know that when every day life is annoying you because you just want to get back to your book that it is a good one. I’m assuming that if you are reading this review that you have read the previous three books, if not, do not continue reading ☺. Dani Pettrey just has that thing that good authors have where you quite easily become invested This last book is of course the story belonging to Luke and Kate. Both of these characters are extreme. Luke is just all out hard core in his abilities as an undercover agent, like he can practically leap a tall building in a single bound type status. He has been married to his job for the past 7 years and completely off the grid trying to take down an international terrorist by the name of Ebeid, and basically has regretted his decision the moment he sees Kate, our other extreme character. Kate is extreme in her devotion to Luke who disappeared 7 years ago and Kate, as a private investigator, using her impressive computer tracking skills to track him down. In the previous 3 books you get hints of times that Kate has tracked him from across the world to different places where he has surfaced. She is extremely good at what she does and in this book the two reunite, along with the other characters that are friends and co-workers in the fight to take down the very real terrorist threat that is happening because of Ebeid. So they all work together- Griffin and Finley-(although they are working on another aspect of the storyline that was highly satisfying- I will leave this here, because I don’t want to give it away), Avery and Parker, and Declan and Tanner. All I can say is I definitely felt that thing that you feel when you are done with a series and you don’t really want to say goodbye to all those fabulous characters. I always enjoy the journey that Dani takes her characters on- they are not perfect people, they have stuff to work through in their relationships with each other and with God- funny how those two things go hand in hand. So I just want to say thank you and bravo to you Dani Pettrey for another wonderful page turning suspense series with amazing characters and fast paced storylines, it was such a pleasure to read- cant wait for your next series! I received a complimentary copy of Dead Drift in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Dead Drift is the thrilling conclusion to the Chesapeake Valor series by Dani Pettrey. This novel includes a dual storyline which adds to it's edge of your seat page-turning suspense. It's a race against time for Luke and Kate to stop the threat of biological warfare while Griffin and Finley work to solve Jenna's murder before the killer strikes again! There's non-stop action, just the right amount of romance, and all questions will finally be answered!! Although it can be read as a stand alone novel, I would definitely recommend reading the others in the series first. This is because one of the things I have come to expect and appreciate from a Dani Pettrey novel are her interwoven characters with complex relationships. If you start with Dead Drift, you'll miss out on some of the characters histories. I was given a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

Dead Drift is the fabulous fourth addition to Dani Pettrey’s series, Chesapeake Valor. This one is probably my favorite of the series. Kate and Luke finds themselves in quite a bit of action, adventure, danger, mystery, suspense and romance. What a perfect combination for me in a read. I give Dead Drift a well deserved 5 stars. I’m sad to say goodbye to this series, but look forward to what Dani Pettrey comes up with next. Can not wait! I received this book from the author, but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

I can’t believe this book is the end of the Chesapeake Valor series!! And what an incredible ending to an incredible series! The book packs a punch from the very beginning and the adrenaline just ramps up with each page! I could not put this book down (I was glued to my chair, trembling with excitement throughout my reading that my children actually asked me if I was ok.....) and you won’t be able to either once you start the book. The story is fast-paced and the plot, even though there are two parallel plot lines, is well-crafted and executed. There are a whole bunch of twists and turns to the plot that make the story layered and quite delicious! The suspense and action in the story are intense, just like Luke and Kate’s love for each other. Luke is the highly trained black ops agent, capable of completing any mission. Yet he’s broken from having left Kate all those years ago and doesn’t know if he can be forgiven. He also struggles with accepting forgiveness from God for all the job-related actions he regrets. Kate is independent, extremely capable at what she does but hasn’t forgotten her love for Luke. As they reluctantly work together, they become targets of a terrorist and their survival hangs on a balance, even as they try to stop the terrorist from unfurling his plan. Oh, man, I love the whole gang. If you haven’t read the first three books in the series, reading them in order would be helpful to understand all the nuisances in this fourth and last book. But you can still enjoy the book without having read the first three. If you love high-octane romantic suspense that keeps you on the edge of your seat, this book is a must read! I received a copy of the book from the author and Bethany House Publishing and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own and subjective.

This was a very active, suspenseful and sometimes deadly search for terrorist activities on U.S. soil. The terrorist leader, Ebeid, has a world renown scientist working on a way to spread anthrax on a deadly scale to infiltrate large populous areas. Luke Gallagher has been on the search for the leader for the last seven years through several countries and has now traced him back to the U.S. Kate Maxwell is shocked to see him after wondering where he had disappeared for all those years. She has a hard time forgiving but he must keep her close to protect her. Trying to stay a step ahead of those attempting to assassinate them gets harder and harder. Married couple Griffin and Finley take some personal time off to search for Griffin's younger sister's murderer. They believe they are on the trail of a serial killer. Following clues left by a murdered detective and interviewing various other police officers in different states bring them closer and closer to a very dangerous maniac. These characters became "friends" to me over this Chesapeake Valor series. They were all brave souls, searching for evil while praying for God to lead them in the right direction and to keep them safe. Tender and caring moments were penned, and I was pleased at the romantic connections found among the pages. Although it's always sad to have a wonderful series end, I'm looking forward to Dani Pettrey's new upcoming series, Coastal Guardians. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher/author but was not required to write a review.

Just finished the book and though its part of a series it can be read as a stand alone. Dani Pettrey will catch your attention in the first few pages and keep you turning the page to see what happens next. She's a master at story telling and you will love the characters. There is a lot of suspense and a touch of romance (which just makes it better). I've read all of Dani Pettrey's books and her writing continues to improve with each book. She brings faith into the story line but she doesn't harp nor preach to you. However, you might need to stop and think about something in your life and even say a prayer. I know I've been praying about something and in one of her books something a character was going through showed me what I needed to pray and helped me. Thank you Dani. I bought this book through a local bookstore and no one asked me to read nor leave a review. All opinions are my own and my opinion is that Dead Drift is a book to read, enjoy and recommend Dani Pettrey's books to anyone that loves a good clean romantic suspense.

I could not wait for this book to be released. Knowing this was going to be the last book in the Chesapeake Valor series I wanted to savor every second. Instead of reading it all in a day like I wanted to, I forced myself to make it last over several days. It was fun wondering what could possibly happen next, and I enjoyed the anticipation. Pettrey does suspense like no other, so you can imagine my difficulty in setting the book down in the first place, much less multiple times. If you have read any of the other books in this series you know how much I was dying to hear Kate and Luke’s story. Getting to know Luke, he couldn’t be more swoon-worthy. Sure he went MIA for 7 years, but he was only saving our country and all. Surely Kate can see that he always cared about her, shouldn’t that be enough? Unfortunately Luke can’t devote all of his time to gaining favor with Kate, there is also a major threat to the country they both love. Facing his past has always been a difficult thing for Luke. Being sent on one mission after another keeps his mind occupied and gives him less time to think about the what if’s. His current mission gives Luke no choice but to return to those he loved and left behind. They are not only a group he knows he can trust, but all incredibly smart and gifted in their areas of expertise. With threats coming from all sides Luke will need all the help he can get. Can the team find and stop the terrorists bent on killing so many innocent people? I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys suspense. The characters are easy to love, and a lot of fun to watch. I could picture myself being whisked away to safety, and was holding my breath waiting to see what was next. I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers and was in no way forced to post a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Dead Drift is an adventurous, mysterious, Faithfilled story. Now isn't that all what we are looking for? It is a twister of a story for sure. Now, I would be remised if I left out the romance between Luke and Kate - that is the undertow of the whole story. Now they have to overcome the proverbial mountain they must climb to get to that romance - trust and forgiveness. Will they be able to do that while they fight the criminal fight? Will they find true love in each other? Will they follow GOD's will for them? This is the fourth book in the Chesapeake Valor series and the author, was able to continue on with the other character's stories along with developing these character's stories. She did a fantastic job. I received a copy of this book from the Publisher and Netgalley; all of the opinions expressed in this review are all my own. if you would like to read more of my Christian book reviews go to christianlybookreviewers.blogspot.com
