Overview

Death by Marriage (Book #3 in the Caribbean Murder series) by Jaden Skye

A well-known criminal lawyer is found dead in a back alley in St. Thomas, and Cindy and Mattheus are called in to investigate by the grieving widow. The local police have pinned her for the murder, and Cindy and Mattheus are her last hope in vindication.

As Cindy and Mattheus dig deeper into the victim's past, they learn that all was not as rosy as it seemed. They discover mistresses, gambling debts, vendettas, and a number of people who had motivation to want him dead. Most shocking of all, as they dig even deeper, they discover a whole secret life that he lead, one so lurid that the people who knew him best can hardly even conceive it.

As a hurricane closes in and the police are insistent, despite all evidence, to arrest the widow, Cindy and Mattheus find themselves in a race against time to find the killer. When another body turns up, all involved realize the stakes may be even higher than they seem. And as Cindy and Mattheus develop feelings for each other, each grieving from the death of their own spouse, Cindy comes to realize there is even more at stake than she thinks.

DEATH BY MARRIAGE is Book #3 in the Caribbean Murder series, following DEATH BY HONEYMOON (Book #1) and DEATH BY DIVORCE (Book #2).

Book #4 in the series--DEATH BY DESIRE--is now also available.

Decent story but lots of grammatical/ editing issues (one significant issue is on pg 454 - speaking about Greg Kowan vs Paul Robbins and author writes Paul Kowan). I was initially surprised that it was 822 pgs but it only took a few hours to read - each paragraph is one sentence and there are huge soaces and nearly blank pages. Unrealistic but otherwise an ok mystery.

There are a lot of mistakes in this book with names and cutting out parts of the story. It is a good story line and does keep you wanting to read but too many times leaves you wondering what the cut out parts would say.

The story line itself was good. The bad rating is due to the editing. The editing was the worst I've ever seen! Incorrect names used, horrific punctuation, duplicate wording. Just bad all around.

This is the first book I've read by this author, but it won't be my last. It's written in an easy reading flow, and the story line keeps you guessing. Would highly recommend this book!

This is my second book by this author and I enjoyed reading them both. In this book, she teams up ex-cop Mattheus and they form a business venture called C&M Investigations. It was interesting to see how they viewed one another as they worked to solve their first murder case and wondered if they had made the right choice in teaming up. It was clear that Cindy put forth more effort into the case than Mattheus. I think he still had his doubts. After she solved the case by sheer determination, he was ready to take on some more cases. I think they will make a great team and look forward to reading some more books with Cindy and Mattheus solving cases.

This was an amazing read. Couldn't put it down. By far the best book in the series! Can't wait for the fourth!
