This installment in the Brightest Kind of Darkness series was a disappointment. Although it was really well written and Ethan and Nara's relationship did improve, nothing new really happened. The plot did not escalate at all, and I only got through telling myself that the next book will be better. So I recommend you buy this instalment only if you are completely invested in the series.

P.T. Michelle knows how to pack a punch in her writing, and I’ve been in love with her Brightest Kind of Darkness since the very beginning. Not only are her characters absolutely amazing, but her plotline is also fascinating and enticing, sprinkling in elements of romance and realism into this fast-paced, action packed paranormal series, and I just can’t get enough. Desire, the fourth installment in this riveting series, kept me on my toes and held my attention just like all those that came before it, and I’m already on pins and needles waiting for the fifth and final book in the series. The plot is thickening, as they say, and Nara and Ethan are facing even more peril as the Corvus world begins to take over, threatening all that they hold dear. With Ethan torn between his own love for Nara and the uncontrollable force of his Corvus, Nara struggling to make sense of her role in it all, and demons intent on killing the Master Corvus, time is of the essence, and something Ethan and Nara are running out of, as it were. I love that over the course of the series, both Ethan and Nara have really developed and come into themselves. And in Destiny, Michelle takes readers into a more mature relationship between the two main characters. Now, while I’m not one who really condones sexual relationships in my novels, (hence I’d put a 16+ rating on this novel) it works. Ethan and Nara have been through so much in the span of four novels, and it is definitely time for them to take their relationship to the next level. Though I’m a prude, Michelle handles this relationship shift with care, and I suspect that readers who have been following the series will rejoice in this union as it hits full bloom in a more explicit manner. I love how Michelle blends romance with action, keeping readers on their toes, especially with the climactic ending that will leave readers dying for more. Overall, Michelle is an extremely talented writer and I love living inside the pages with her true-to-life characters, and I highly recommend this entire series to lovers of all things paranormal.

I love love love this series and was super excited to read this book. Was kind of sad because this book seemed really short, but was definitely steamy! Such a cliff hanger at the end though, I can't wait for the next one.

I absolutely love every book in this series but Desire reached a new high. P.T. Michelle mixed high-stakes romance with heart-pounding action. In Desire we see Ethan come into his Corvus and reveal more about himself to Nara. Both characters grow in this story and the plot continues to thicken. The ending of Desire left me fiending for the next book. I can't wait until the story continues!

Note: By far, this is going to be my longest review. I get a little long-winded and for good reason. Please let this reflect on my love (and borderline obsession) with this book series. You have been warned! I’m just going to go ahead and let you know up front this review is going to have some major spoilers.  It’s the fourth book in this series (not including the novella prequel!) and there really is no way not to give something up at this point. That being said, I’ve been camping out on P.T.’s website and Facebook page just waiting for the day she announced this book was coming out.  This was my very first indie author series — when I was finally starting to buy more e-books and realizing that the one-click button was evil when it came at $10.81 a pop. When I found this book for $1.99 (or close to it?), I was giddy and a bit leery.  Surely a book at this cost couldn’t be that great. (By the way, this was in 2011, so it was the dawn of the self pubs in my world).  But oh, ho, ho, I was shown that in fact, a cheap book could be made of all kinds of awesome. Since then, I’ve been addicted to Nara & Ethan’s story. I was devastated when the release date for Destiny was pushed back (understanding, authors have lives too, but still sad).  So, obviously I am more than a little bit invested in this series. Less than an hour after the book showed up in my inbox for review, I was already consuming it like it was a gallon of water in the desert.  And a few short hours later, between feeding children, bath time, and life in general, I had finished the story.  It was just that good.  And then, like when you eat too much ice cream, the dread of realizing that the book didn’t actually publish until the next day and I would be waiting a long time to know what happens next set in.  I gotta say, I both love and hate that feeling.  Only good books do it to you, and this one was another home run. So the book, right? That’s what you’re all here about.  The book was really different from the rest of the series.  In the first book, we are establishing the world that Nara and Ethan live in — it’s centered on Nara’s ability and her fight with Fate.  The book spends a lot of time setting up Nara’s life — living without her dad, dreaming her day and fighting the need to change what happens, living as a teenage girl with teenage issues, and meeting Ethan.  We really don’t get much Ethan and Nara time until the end, because they are getting to know one another and dealing with the fall out that comes with Ethan’s ability to take her dreams. Then in the second book Ethan is gone for 89%. And we’re all sad pandas.  But, we do get the dreamy Drystan who is a great friend and definitely drool-worthy.  We begin to learn that Nara’s ability to dream her next day is a side effect of something much larger.  Her and Ethan’s connection to one another and ravens begins to unravel, but we still just don’t get much of them together. And then in book three we have the conflict. Ethan’s lying, amnesia, Danielle, and all these other obstacles are fighting tooth and nail to keep these two apart.  We spend most of the book in angst, wishing and hoping that something will finally give.  And again, we learn a TON more about the lore of this world — demons, veil rips, Corvus, etc.  The mythology is super fascinating and a major focus of the book. But book four, Desire, is where we finally get to see Nara and Ethan be Nara and Ethan.  Our patience finally pays off.  There’s some great steamy scenes, and there’s some more information about what the heck all this paranormal stuff really means (like is Nara an angel?).  But really, this seemed like the breather book of the series.  It wasn’t all action-packed and full of answers.  It was a slow build to what I think will be an amazing finale in book five. And if you thought book three ended on a cliff, this one will make you fall off. And cry.  But, it didn’t make me like the book any less or make me mad.  I did feel a little heart broken, but honestly it is something that I expected might happen. Nara is an awesome character. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — she is not only a great, well developed character, but a great role model.  She is level-headed, mature, and still comes off as a teenager.  If my daughter was anything like Nara, I’d be more than thrilled.  Of course she has her flaws (keeping secrets like getting hurt by demons), but that just reminds you see IS a teenager. So, all in all, this book is the place holder — it was something we as readers needed before jumping head first into everything that is going to go down in the end.  I know I as a reader needed to see Ethan and Nara just be together and in love.  I got some answers from book three, but for every answer came three new questions.  I have NO idea what is going to happen next, but I can tell you that I will be waiting and watching like a hawk for that final installment.

I love the BKOD series. Desire was a sweet read and was great getting to finally see more of Ethan and Nara being together as a couple and trying to work to figure out the Raven/Corvus. It seemed they would finally make a break and find answers then was sat back by more questions. As Always Gran makes a spectacular visit and you cannot help but laugh. The only thing about Desire I did not like was I wanted more of Drystan. I am so happy there is another book coming out so that the story can continue I definitely want more and especially after ending of Desire.

This book was incredible. I was so into it I didn't even see the end coming, so I was shocked when I turned the page and it was over! It was soooooo good. BKoD is probably my favorite series.

I love how Ethan & Nara's relationship has developed. This book has crossed over into New Adult. The connection between Nara & Ethan is magical. We get some answers in this one but there's still more to know. I love how in this book we got Ethan's point of view. He also communicates more with his Corvus. They don't exactly get along and they make a deal, which I'm not too sure is very smart of Ethan to do. I love P.T. Michelle's writing style. It's like I can see it all as I'm reading it. I highly recommend this series. It's amazing. I'm going to be sad to see it end. I love Nara and Ethan and how their relationship has grown and changed. It's one of the best series I've read and I would say better than some that have been turned into movies. Give his series a shot, the first book is free and the series gets better from there on.

I fell in love with two characters a couple of years ago, and I have lingered on their every word, every touch, and every dangerous situation ever since Nara and Ethan came into my life.  The latest addition to their story, Desire, left me breathless in some parts and hyped up with anger in others. Ethan and Nara are still trying to piece together the information they need to help Ethan keep himself permanently and in return help the Master Corvus choose the correct path. In addition to helping the Master Corvus, Nara and Ethan have to deal with Nara's father who has come back into Nara's life and he doesn't approve of Ethan. The cliffhanger ending was expected, since book 5 is due out by the end of the year, but I totally didn't expect what happened.  With P.T. Michelle's masterful writing full of romance, mystery, and action, I devoured Desire in one day. Now, bring on book 5! Please!

I absolutely loved this story! I love how Nara and Ethan have grown so much together. The strength of their connection and the special bond that the two of them share is evident throughout the book. I found that there were many heart melting moments between them. I just adore the relationship between Samson and Ethan as well. These were some of my favourite scenes. I also really, really like the added the tidbits with Patch. Who knew a bird could be such a beloved character? Wow, oh wow on the ending. I can't wait to see how this is all going to come together in the last book!!

Worth the read. One of the best series I've read in a long time. I really hope the series comes out on audiobooks. In this book, Nara and Ethan love really develops. They finally spend time together fighting against evil.
