Desires Entwined: Book Two

Most people see Chase Manning as the party-boy twink he seems on the surface. Only James, Chase's BFF, knows the depth of his loyalty and the extent of the wounds Chase carries inside. When Chase meets Rhys Sayer, things don’t go well, but he can’t shake his attraction to the huge, sexy man.

Rhys is a man of contradictions and fear—a strange combination for a PI and bodyguard. He's in a bad place emotionally when he sets eyes on Chase for the first time. When Chase puts the moves on him, Rhys insults him, thwarting any possibility of a relationship. Rhys doesn’t see himself as a complicated man, but he dreads the very kind of connection he desires.

Just as they’re trying to overcome their uncertainties, Chase is put in harm’s way. Luckily Rhys and their friends have all the right talents to help Rhys save the man of his dreams.

Another hook, line, and sinker. If you haven't already, be sure to check out my review on Book #1, Designs of Desire. This review is for the second book in the series. While it stands alone, Chase and Rhys, the MCs in this book, are also introduced in the first. Plus, I always prefer to start at the beginning. Pick them both up if you haven't already read the first for the full treatment. Luckily there isn't a huge risk of spoilers since the series runs more like a saga; even then, I don't do spoilers. These are my favorite types of reads because you get fresh relationships, while still seeing favorites in the background of the story. I just can't get enough of them. The writing style remains fresh and unique throughout the story. I felt this story read smoothly from start to finish with one tiny hiccup where Reece was spelled in dialogue but Chase corrects him. I always thought Reece and Rhys sounded the same, but they were only spelled differently. Unless it was to alert the reader to it sounding different, but it was lost on me. Not a big deal either way, but I actually want to figure it out. With Chase and Rhys there was this tension, and I love romantic tension. It was thick, heart-pounding at times. When a book can physically move me to where I feel what the characters feel, it blows me out of the water. My heart's still pounding. I'm looking forward to finishing the series as it seems the books just keep getting better and better. *I received a copy in exchange for my review.

Chase is still looking for someone who will love him. Rhys is a somewhat hard, but loyal PI. When these two meet because of Jamie's past, there is instant dislike. Seth, Jamie and Dal can't understand what is going on. Little did they know that this was not the first encounter. With some meddling friends, Chase comes to work for Rhys' PI company as their IT person. Sparks fly between those two, but when Rhys' past lover creates waves, Rhys has to work quickly to show Chase that their first encounter was a fluke - that Chase was exactly who he wanted. Both Seth and Rhys learn that what is important is finding someone and holding on to them, love them for who they are and to leave preconceived notions out of their relationship. Love can conquer all. When Chase's life in in danger, Rhys will stop at nothing to protect him. Chase learns that love is worth fighting for and puts his trust in Rhys when the time counts. This was a great story! I loved the twists and turns and despite my being fairly good at predicting things, I was completely thrown off in the "who-done-it" aspect of this story, which I loved! I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads. AvidReader

Chase seems to almost self-destructive in his attempts to keep far away from Rhys. These two start off on the wrong foot but they are still drawn to each other. And when men are found dead it could very well be a major game changer.

I loved this book as much as the first of the series. It is always great when authors keep past characters involved in the next story. We also got to meet new characters. This book was full of surprises as well as lots of love and romance. I look forward to more to come in the series and hope to continue to have past characters involved in future stories. I give it 5 stars
