About the Author

Author Amy Miles has always been a bit of a dreamer. Growing up as an only child, and a military brat to boot, she spent countless hours escaping into the pages of a book, only to spend the following days creating a new idea of how to twist up the story to make it unique. Since becoming a mother, Amy has slowly nourished her love of the written word while snatching writing time in the midst of soiled diapers, tumbling over legos and peering around mounds of laundry and dishes that never seem to go away. Once her only son started school, Amy was free to let her fingers dive into dark mythology, tales of betrayal and love, and explore human nature in its rawest form. Her love of seeing the world from a different angle bloomed. Author Amy Miles is the author of several novels, including her popular young adult immortal books, The Arotas Series, which are an Amazon and iBooks bestselling series. Unwilling to be defined by any one genre, she proceeded to flip over to a science fiction/fantasy based idea with her Rising Trilogy. She then explored the depths of her own faith with In Your Embrace and discovered her darker side with the first installment Wither, a zombie thriller. Want to know what Amy will be working on next? I enjoyed this book very much. Can't wait for next book in the series! Just as good if not better than the Arotas series :)

Not a fan of first person writing there were several spelling or topographical errors which I had to read through. The narration seems to repeat itself. Overall I would give in an average rating

Desolate I enjoyed that the author brought vampires back to the stuff of horror and removed them from the things that glitter like diamonds. I have read some of the other reviews and they are saying that it was to graphic, I am not sure that the author conveyed that story of torture sufficiently to get the the read emotional involved. Yes, the author wrote the details, but I felt like the emotions were missing. I enjoyed the unique plot and characters and cannot wait for the story to continue.

***I would like to thank Netgalley and Red Coat PR providing me with “Desolate” for free, exchange for a honest review*** Amy Miles has a way with words. She is an artist, painting a picture in your mind without having to get to graphic with details. This book is the start of a series. Roseline does grow into herself as we progress in the story. Her stranger helps her figure out what needs to be done. I can't really go into the book since it will give away much. Just know if you enjoy dark paranormal books you will enjoy this one.

I would give 5 stars if Illaryia could choose her own destiny and be with the one she truly loved, rather than settle for the one she loves because she's known him her whole life and is expected to be with.

This book is intense!! I can not fanthom the abuse that she is suject to. In everything that she goes threw she thrives to be strong!! This book is the beginning of Rosaline's life. This book is related to the Arotas trilogy.
