A delightful historical romance, Destiny's Captive was a lovely read. With thrills, dark secrets, diverse settings and tons of sweet romance, this book was wonderful. I really liked the different settings in this book. Set in the 1870s, we got a look at Cuba at the beginnings of another revolution, Florida, and California. It definitely made the book interesting and a different type of historical romance. Pilar was a great heroine. She was very strong, resilient, and independently minded, but also kind and loyal to those she cared about. I thought she was a likable, lovely character. Noah was also wonderful. He had a dark past that made him ruthless but, underneath that, he was sweet and kinder than he first appears to be. I thought it was sweet how devoted he was to Pilar, once they found themselves together, willing to face even the demons in his past for her sake. I thought he was great. The romance was lovely. Pilar and Noah were a perfect match, both strong-willed and loyal to a fault. And, they definitely had some steamy chemistry between them turned the heat level up. I thought they were a wonderful couple. The plot was well paced and I was kept interested the entire way through, though there were a few points where the plot stalled for a bit. But, it wasn't to the point of being a big problem. There were thrills and twists along the way, as well as a few surprising secrets. I enjoyed the story and the ending was lovely. Destiny's Captive was a wonderful historical romance that I really enjoyed reading. It was a lovely book, with lush settings, dark secrets, and delightful romance. Romance lovers, this is a book worth checking out. *I received a complimentary copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review

BJ, HAS DONE IT AGAIN. THIS BOOK WAS BEYOND WHAT I EXPECTED AND WAS WAITING FOR. THE CHARACTERS WHERE SO DETAILED W/O BEING TO WORDY. I LOVE THAT FACT THAT HER BOOKS ARE HISTORICALLY ACCURATE (I'M A HISTORY NUT) . PILAR WAS SO POWERFUL. IF YOU LOOK AT THE OTHER TO BOOKS IN THIS SERIES, THE LEADING LADY WAS NO SIMPERING MISS. ALL OF THEM HAD A FIGHT IN THEM, WHETHER THAT BE THE HAND THAT LIFE DEALT THEM, FAMILY DISFUNCTIONS OR LANDS AND TIMES. I WISH THERE WAS ANOTHER TO LOOK FORWARD TO. NOAH THE HERO WAS NOT A MEAN PERSON AND IN THE TIME PERIOD IT WAS WRITTEN, MEN WHERE VERY DOMINEERING OVER THEIR WIVES, NOAH TREAT PILAR VERY WELL. THE FACT THAT HE HAD A PAST AND IT WAS REVEALED IN A SAD WAY, MADE ME LOVE HIS CHARACTER MORE. ONCE AGAIN "BJ HAS DONE IT AGAIN"

As always Beverly Jenkins brings out the best in telling a story. In my opinion Ms. Jenkins is the best when it comes to writing about African American historical romance.

I loved the final installment to the Destiny series. Ms. Jenkins added an extra layer to her hero and it was very humbling to know that he was struggling with such a degrading subject. It was well written and I learned a bit more about Cuba's history. Keep writing Ms. Jenkins.

I was expecting a little more action for the final book in a series. A pretty good read on a rainy day or lazy weekend but certainly not on my list to reread anytime soon.
