Frodo looked around the Motel's reception room. Butterman, the receptionist Tom had told them about was sitting behind a desk. He was burly, and from Frodo's experiences with him earlier in the day, very, very bumbling. Frodo noticed the others sitting around a table in the small central area insinde the main building, and sat down with them. As they talked, he found his attention being drawn towards a man sitting in the corner of the area. The man was tall, and had long hair tied back in a ponytail, and a park ranger's hat sat on his head. He was wearing a beidge button-up shirt, and he had a golden badge on his chest.
"Do you know who that is?" Frodo asked the other Hobbits.
"I think it's... Strider?" Pippin replied. "Butterman was saying something about him."
Frodo nodded and looked back at the man, who raised his head to gaze back at him. Frodo shuddered.
Just then, Merry walked over and plunked his umteenth cup of coffee on the table. This one was a Pumpkin Spice Latte, or something of the sort. Pippin was incredulous.
"What. Is. That?" She demanded.
Merry sat down. "This, my friend." He grinned. "Is a Venti."
"It comes it Venti?!?" Pippin demanded, looking at her own cup. "I've got to get one of those." With that she got up and marched over to the line in front of the counter.
Frodo shook his head. So far, at least, he thought they were safe. Tom had told him to not use his real name; the Nazgul could be listening anytime, anywhere. He took a sip of his own coffee, and then almost choked as he heard Pippin, talking to one of the other people in line.
"Sure! I know a Baggins! Right over there." Frodo facepalmed and stood up quickly, running over to Pippin....
He crashed into someone else...
The Ring flew out of his shirt pocket as he fell to the floor...
In the corner, Strider stood up abruptly and made a half lunge foward, as if to grab the Hobbit.
The Ring slipped onto his finger...
The chatter of the Prancing Pony stopped as the falling young adult simply disappeared from view..
And, spread out across the area, nine Nazgul turned similtaniously towards Bree as the tracking device on the Ring informed them of its location.
Frodo and the Hobbits were thrown into the room heavily as Strider locked the door behind them.
"What d'you think you were doing?" He asked Frodo.
"Sorry, sir.. it was an accident..." Frodo shuffled his feet.
"Right! An accident that's going to get the whole lot of you killed!"
"Well... what do you want us to do about it?" Sam asked.
"We need to leave. Now."
