This is part of the old Dick & Jane series of early readers. I think it is a good way to help children learn to read. Often lamented as too simple and repetitive they have proven remarkably resilent and timely ways to introduce words and sounds. This is a good book for parents and grandparents to use.

I was thrilled to find these books that I learned to read with. They have made learning to read such a positive experience for my daughter. Illustrations are fabulous and word repetition makes reading so much easier.
