This book highlights the importance of names and their vibrations. Each name has a quality. In addition, the name itself vibrates with that quality. Every word, every name has a vibration of its own. It is not mere sound. So when we name someone, we should see that the name has clean, beautiful vibrations, which will bring out those good qualities. A spiritual seeker should have such a name. Sanskrit is a language specifically developed to bring out various powerful sound vibrations. Every letter in the Sanskrit alphabet has some beautiful, cosmic vibration. That is why each letter can be called a bijakshara, or seed word. There are fifty-one letters like that. They are developed that way. This means that the people who were able to meditate well and hear, as wen as feel, the various sound vibrations, brought out this alphabet.

Sanskrit is mainly used for scriptural purposes (ie, writing of mantras and the verses connected with mantras, and the Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, Brahmasutras and so on). This is because of its beautiful vibrations. There was a time when it was a spoken language. Slowly people stopped using it for their daily conversation and instead it became what is called Devabashan: a divine language. This is similar to Arabic in the Mideast and Latin in the West. In various periods there were different languages used mainly for scriptural purposes because of their beautiful vibrations.

The Sanskrit language, being a perfected one, embodies certain conducive sounds and vibrations that can enrich everyone’s life. Even today, when you listen to some of the ancient prayers in temples and shrines, you may not understand all the words, but the prayers are still repeated in those languages because of the beautiful sound vibrations.
