Overview

When the "Sexiest Man Alive" reneges on his book contract, no-nonsense editor Erin Andersen is sent to rein him in. She heads to the Outer Banks to confront Stephen Spence. Spence doesn't have writer's block. His problem is something worse. He enjoys life too much to slow down and work on a book whenever wanted. Erin tags along on his adventures to avoid losing the assignment. Disdain gives way to desire after a few weeks alone with Spence. And, to her dismay, Erin discovers that distraction is contagious.

About the Author

Robin Van Auken is an author of contemporary fiction, suspense thriller and romance. She also writers non-fiction, focusing on regional histories. She is a full-time writer and part-time college instructor.
She lives in the highlands of Pennsylvania. She and her husband, Lance, enjoy traveling to the United Kingdom and Europe, and spend much of their time abroad in ruins, castles, cathedrals and museums. She particularly enjoys crypts with mummies, musty libraries and authentic pubs. In the United States, they bounce along the East Coast, traveling from New England to Florida to visit family and friends.
Robin’s books include elements of her passions: traveling, boating, scuba diving, hiking, history and archaeology. The characters in her novels have a connection with idyllic Eaton, a fictitious town in Pennsylvania she invented, although many of her books also feature exciting and exotic cities the heroines (and their lovers) visit during the course of their romantic journey.

The main characters, Spence and Erin, though a bit predictable, are very likable. Sometimes it's just good to have a book with a feel-good ending! I am on a mission to read others by this author, and look forward to "Women of Eaton" books with storylines weaving in the same characters. I recommend for an easy, romantic, heart-hugging good time!

What a refreshing read, unlike so many romance novels of the past, which made the female lead out to be some kind of second-class citizen who could never stand up for themselves. (Many of these books I'd throw against the wall in disgust.) Madeline Sloane's book, "Distracted," is a pleasant surprise.

This was a cute romance. Erin is supposed to help Stephen hurry up and get his book done, which turns out to be an impossible task. Stephen's tendency to put things off and enjoy life is cute and funny, but in real life, this guy would annoy me to no end. (And I'm laughing as I write that.) He's hard to commit to anything. Now, like I said, in fiction, this is funny, and since it's fiction, it works.

Madeline Sloane brings romance to the table with her first book! "Distracted" is cleverly written; the dialogue is well-delivered, easily readable and certainly enjoyable. I like how Ms. Sloane changed locales throughout the book as well, giving a diverse look into different regions of the eastern coast, including rural north central Pennsylvania.
