Dosso Dossi has long been considered one of Renaissance Italy's most intriguing artists. A wealth of documents chronicle his life, but because very little of his work has survived, he remains an enigma and his art continues to be as elusive as it is compelling. This volume comprises 18 essays evolving from two symposia titled "Dosso Dossi and His Age," held in 1996 and 1997, in anticipation of the 1998-1999 exhibition of his works.
