5 Star Review Down On Me (Man of the Month #1) by J Kenner J Kenner is a relatively new author to me as I have only ever read one other book and honestly I have no idea why. This is the story of Reece Walker, a confirmed bachelor and Jenna Montgomery, a woman he has know most of his life and has lusted over for many months; a friends to lovers story. Down On Me is not a long book, but boy does it cover a lot of ground. Fast paced, I was riveted from the first chapter; I loved the blurb for the book which is why I jumped at the chance to read and review. What happens when friendship suddenly morphs into so much more? Reece has no idea how to handle his feelings for Jenna and is in turmoil. Throw in the fact that unbeknownst to him Jenna feels the same way and you start to see how life suddenly becomes so complicated for Reece and Jenna. Do Reece and Jenna risk their friendship and roll the dice on love, or is it purely lust which may well fizzle out? Purchase Down On Me to find out. The characters were easy to relate to, not only the main characters but the supporting ones as well. I thoroughly enjoyed this extremely well written and entertaining story and I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

Nice start to a new series...3.5 stars! Down On Me is the first book in the Man of The Month series. The storyline is based on the concept of the Man of the Month calendar in which close friends come together to help their friend, Tyree Johnson and his bar, The Fix. Brent, Reese and Jenna have been close friends forever and their not about to allow their favorite bar in Austin close down. After eight months in Los Angeles, Jenna Montgomery is back in town since things didn’t go as expected on her job. When Brent and Reese convince her to use her marketing expertise in saving the bar, she brainstorms a plan that would hopefully save it, running a monthly contest for contestants to be in the 2018 calendar. Jenna never forgot that night before she left Austin how Reese looked as if he regretted letting her go. Can she act on her desires without risking their friendship? Reese Walker has always had feelings for Jenna. Can he finally claim her and let her know how he feels about her without ruining things? He can commit, but not marriage. Reese isn’t husband material, not with his track record with past girlfriends and witnessing his dad’s failed marriages. A forever kind of love and marriage isn’t for him. But Jenna’s got a surprise, and she needs Reese more than ever. I like the unique storyline of this series. It sounds promising. Although Reese and Jenna are the principles in this story, I felt their romance was glossed over because of so many introductions of characters, and those characters will probably appear in the next related books. I really wanted more of Reese and Jenna’s romance, and so when they resolve the conflict between them, I wasn’t entirely convinced of their declaration of love. The epilogue segues into the setup of the next book. I’m sure we will see more of Reese and Jenna. I received and voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

4.5 Stars What a great start to J.Kenner’s new series, Down on Me is Book one in her new Man of the Month Series and if this book is anything to go by I can’t wait to meet the rest of the men. The books are going to be coming out every two weeks starting next week and every book will be about a different man . Down on Me is Reece and Jenna’s story and it’s a story that will draw you in, friends since children but distance was put between them when Jenna moved away. Jenna has now moved back but will the friendship survive when the chemistry is off the charts or will they give into the feelings they have had for each for many years. Will they take the risk on losing each other as best friends by crossing the line and taking their relationship to a new level or will they stay in the friend zone and risk their hearts. If you are looking for a book that will keep you turning the pages, is quick to read without taking anything away from the storyline this is a must read. Can’t wait to meet the rest of the men in the Man of the Month Series.

I am a big Kenner fan, however, this book while good was not up to her usual standards. Story and character development are lacking. It's a quick read, but doesn't inspire to continue series as Stark International series did.

Where has this author been all of my life. I absolutely love her characters and her style. Yes that hunka burning love and all of the men are described as yummie but they also have made some choices in life which weren't the best, meaning they aren't perfect. These 3 friends have had different reasons to change the childhood bond they have nourished throughout the years and now it's Reese and Jenna's turn, maybe. A story of discovery and acceptance and a love that has strengthened throughout the years. Now if guilt and sins of the father can be pushed out the way it might just work. I love the intensity of the character, the childhood bond, it always makes love so much more believable when it is developed and worked through to strengthen. It's a well written story with loads of feels and awww moments and great intentions. I can't wait to read more about these Men of the Month.

Down On Me by J. Kenner was a quick, fun read and my first introduction into the world of this author’s writing, at least in the case of this book and those to follow and boy was I delighted with what I discovered. This is the first in a series of 12 books, called ‘Man of the Month’ with each book publishing a few short weeks after the other. It’s told 3rd person POV which isn’t my favorite, but Ms. Kenner managed to break down my dislike for that style of writing. The story carried me away with it’s mostly like-hearted theme. Reece and Jenna Montgomery have known each other since they were kids. They grew up together and Jenna spent much of her childhood as just one of the guys. She and Reece had one other member of their awesome friendship, Brent, a now single father to five year old, Faith. They’ve always loved each other… like family. But, one drunken night before Jenna was to leave town could have changed everything. Neither of them had the nerve to risk their friendship or face the humiliation of being turned down by he other. So, they ignored how they felt and went their separate ways. Reece had always regretted not telling Jenna how he felt when she left for L.A eight months ago, but now she’s back and he has the chance to show her. But, she’s just a friend, right? Jenna thought time apart would have made what she’d felt the night several months ago, just be a figment of her imagination, but the second she sets eyes on Reece, she knows she was wrong. Reece is tall and gorgeous, he takes life as it comes, just like his women, but he doesn’t hang around for long. He has a jaded outlook on love and marriage thanks to seeing people close to him get churned up by that institution. It’s not for him. But, can what he feels for Jenna change all that? Jenna has always looked for love, and even though she never had a father growing up, she wants it all. A husband, a house, the kids and the picket fence. She and Reece shouldn’t work, but they do. They make an adorable couple, and even though Reece is wary of deep feelings, he can’t fight how he feels about Jenna. When things get heated and a mistake brings everything to a head, will Reece do the right thing? Can these two take the chance, risk it all and find the HEA they’ve always deserved?

This is the first time I have read this author and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. I am so excited to be reading this new series, Man of the Month, and I look forward to reading all 12 books in this series. This is a best friends to lovers story and they have a rough road to navigate. There are challenges to their relationship, to their careers and there are family issues. Reece doesn’t believe in forever. He hasn’t ever had a successful long term relationship. He is a chip off the old block, as his father has been through many women that never had staying power. Jenna is returning home after eight months because her dream job fell through. Before she left, her feelings for Reece changed from wanting to be just best friends to wanting more. Little does she know, Reece has been feeling this way for a while. They dance around each other until Reece makes a move. They try to keep it on the down low but their other friend for the best friend trifecta, has suspected they had feelings for each other and gives his support. They all put their heads together to try and come up with a concept to help bring in revenue to help save the bar. The winning idea? Have a man of the month contest in the bar to choose the man that will appear in the calendar put out by the bar. Jenna wants Reece to be in the lineup for Mr. January, but he puts a halt to that. Who becomes Mr. January? You’re going to have to read the book to find out how all this plays out! I can’t wait for February! If you love the friends to lovers’ trope like I do, you will love this one.

In Down On Me , J.Kenner skillfully tells the story of Reece and Jenna. They have been friends for like F.O.R.E.V.E.R until that moment…. That moment that changed everything for the best friends... that moment when they realised that they wanted more. They are both attracted to each other but do not want to risk their friendship. While they try to fight it , they join forces to try to save their friend’s pub The Fix. How long till they yield to temptation? " How could either of them risk their friendship for something that might be fun, but wouldn't last? " Down On Me is a fantastic start to J.Kenner’s new series, Man of the Month. She always brings us something hot, romantic and wonderful. IF you like friends to lovers stories than this one is for you, it was not only a quick read but also charming and completely entertaining! Can’t wait till Hold on Tight now!

J. Kenner's new series, Man of the Month, is so AMAZING! Down On Me the first book in the series is a friend's to lovers romance that was pure temptation. The anticipation of the romance, and the sizzling chemistry of the characters is something that had me biting my lip and had my heart all a-twitter. And look at this cover! I practically drooled when I seen it. Yet it is the incredible story and amazing romance that made me fall in love with the writing of J. Kenner all over again! Down On Me is sexy, delicious, fresh, and the friend's to lovers thing doesn't always make me swoon, but in this book...I LOVED IT! I am so excited for this series and can't wait for the rest of them. And knowing they are all releasing two weeks apart is something I am REALLY looking forward to. And for those that are just getting started, you will be THRILLED with not having to wait long for the next book. I give this book a SERIOUSLY DECADENT FIVE SHOOTING STARS! Its Breathtaking, sweet, and the HOT factor is OFF THE CHARTS!

I can not fault J. Kenner's writing from the moment you open that book you are drawn in. I have read all her books and don't have a bad word to say about any of them. This is one of my go to authors. I can't wait for the rest of this series as I was screaming out for more. Reece, Brent and Jenna have been friends for a long time and they made a pact that none of them will date their friend Jenna, but now Reece can't hide his feelings for Jenna and what Reece doesn't know Jenna feels the same and instead of acting on them Jenna tries to push him away. I loved the chemistry between the characters, they were well developed and you were made to feel you were part of their world. Give this book a read you won't be disappointed

J. Kenner has always been one of my favorite authors so I was super excited when she announced the Man of the month series. The idea behind the series actually reminds me of a movie from a few years ago (12 Men of Christmas). It was about the 12 super sexy men from a volunteer fire resque team who need to gather money for their team to survive. And they come up with the same briliant idea of making a calendar. So for me, the idea behind the series is not exactly novel but it is one that definitely like a lot :D And what's not to like. Twelve books, each dedicated to a super sexy alpha male. Yum. And let's just say that Down On Me definitely delivered on the promised romance, sexiness and scorching hotness :D Reece is definitely an alpha I would love to get my hands on. Though he is tender, sometimes romantic and sizzling HOT. And those tattoos covering his body are just yummy ;) But he is also a person you can depend on when in need. A man who will do everything in his power to help his loved ones. No matter what will that cost him. And he definitely knows how to win his woman back when he messes things up. In addition to all that, he has a dominant streak a mile long that will keep you hot and bothered for a long time :D Jenna was also a great character. Though I didn't exactly agree with all her decisions and at times I thought her behaviour was a tad too dramatic, I do admire her strength and will to achieve her dreams. Her drive to succeed, even when faith has failed her time after time is simply admirable. And I think she is the perfect match for Reece. As a whole, I think this is a great read. Ultimately, this is a friends to lovers type of romance but with a new spin. It is also mostly lighthearted so it could be a great and relaxing read. So be sure to check it out. As for me, I can't wait for Spencer's story. I am sure it is going to be a blast ;) This review was originally posted at Living In Our Own Story Book Blog.

As always Julie knows how to make you fall for the guys in her books. And Reece Walker is someone I never thought I would be into physically(shaved heads) but after every word and action of his made me want him in ways I never thought I would. His not just a alpha male is good best friend, a sweetheart willing to do anything for anyone, and doesn't fall in love easily until he falls for Jenna. Jenna and Reece have been friends for years and after one brief drunken haze night 8 months ago things change for both of them. But it's hard to fall for your best friend and worry about if this will change everything. And to top it off they and their friend Brent must help save a friend's bar, maybe a all male calendar will do. I can't wait to read the rest of this series. *I received a ARC for exchange of my honest review.*

I'm super excited about this series. 12 books, one man every month, um HELLO who wouldn't get excited about that. And I love when we get introduced a characters in one story only to find out more about them in other books. Can't wait to see which will be my Man of the Month. J Kenner is one of my favorites. Her stories always blow me away. She sucks me in from the very start and her characters always grow with me. After finishing any of her stories, it takes me a minute to pickup another book, only because I don't want to lose my connection with her characters. Good thing in this series, I won't have a huge gap in reuniting with them. In this book we meet Reese. Mr January! Its about three Best Friends since they were little. But when 2 of them realize their feelings for each other they both struggle to take it beyond their friendship in fear it will destroy their longtime friendship and bond. But will it come with a high cost? Reese views into long term relationships even marriage isn't good, he just doesn't believe in them. But he loves his Best friend (Jenna) and wants the best for her. But Is Jenna willing to give up on what she believes in or wants for Reese? "Sometimes you don't know what you want even when it staring you in the face" Its a friend to lover romance story. It's super cute story with some light angst and funny moments. super sexy and I cant wait for the next book!

A truly fun and engaging read with memorable characters, I can't wait to see who comes next in this new series! Reece and Jenna have been friends since they were little, but a steamy night allows them to act on feelings they've both had, but have been to afraid to say. This friends-to-lovers romance is light, fun, and I completely devoured it in one sitting. I love the premise of the series, 3 friends band together to save their fledgling bar, each with different strengths. Jenna, with her marketing background comes up with an idea to make a Man of the Month calendar, with contests and votes leading up to the actual calendar. Count me in to meet these guys! Along the way, Jenna and Reece have to come to terms with how they want to proceed with each other, will their hearts finally have a go, or will they be ruining their friendship instead? Down on Me is lighter than J. Kenner's previous hit Stark series, but with her impeccable writing, down-to-earth characters, and off-the-chart steam, her Man of the Month series is definitely one I cannot wait for the rest!

I have been excited to start the Man of the Month series with Reece. J. Kenner is one of my top favorite authors and knew she would not disappoint. It was a slow start for me only at the beginning. But once you get in the nitty gritty of the story, you are hooked! Jenna was perfect as the heroine if the story. The friendship conveyed in Down on Me was genuine. The romance was not a walk in the park. But not all friends to lovers novels are. J. Kenner brings the sexy into 2018 wither her newest series and Down on Me was a great kick off! I am excited to see where these characters will take us in this amazing journey.

A story of true friends who are loyal, always there for each other and willing to help each other out no matter what just makes you feel good. Totally loved the ending......a perfect HEA for Reece and Jenna and I cannot wait for the next book!

Man of the Month: January is Reece and Jenna’s story. We are back in Austin at Fix on Sixth from where we meet Kiki and Noah. This is a first friends, aren’t sure they want to be more than friends, and then the give it a go couple. Reece/Jenna are a great story and sets up well for the additional stories that are to follow.

January usually starts with a bang and all I can say is that I cannot wait for the rest of the year to read the books in this new series from Ms. Kenner. Reese has known Jenna since they were children and along with Brent they were the three musketeers. However, just before Jenna was to leave for Los Angeles, the dynamic changed between them. Things were fine as long as Jenna was away but when she returns, the heat between her and Reese is beginning to boil over. Neither one knows what is going on nor how they should handle the issue. The problem is Reese does not do committed relationships as he grew up with a poor role model and his greatest fear is losing Jenna’s friendship. Jenna is willing to accept Reese as he is but when an unexpected surprise comes her way, will she be able to keep to the status quo or will it be the thing that changes her mind about her relationship? When it comes to love is there any risk not worth taking? This is one book that you will have read in one sitting because you do not want to put it down. It chronicles the trials and tribulations of friends to lovers and the absorbing writing style just makes a reader ache for more. I am really looking forward to the next book in this series. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.

After reading the blurb and finishing this book I'm so intrigued by the premise of this new series. It has me completely hooked. What was even better for me is the fist book is a friends to lovers book. One of my favorite troupes to read. Jenna and Reece grew up together so they have so much history and truly know one another. When their relationship shifts how will it effect their friendship? This book also delivers on the heat. Also after reading this book I can't wait for Brent's story. His little girl and him have already won my heart. I can't wait to devour more from this series. I highly recommend start this series now because you're not going to want to miss any of the books.

Oh my, what a great start to this new series by J. Kenner! In this first story, we're introduced to Brent, Reece and Jenna, who have been best friends for a long time. Reece and Jenna start to feel "more than friends" feelings toward one another, but both are afraid of endangering their long standing friendship if things don't work out. Loved the friendship dynamic of the three, and the corresponding relationship they have with The Fix on Sixth's owner, Tyree, whom we first met in Wicked Torture (Noah and Kiki's story). We also meet-up with some of our past peripheral characters from the Wicked Nights series who will play starring roles in future calendar months. This story contains all the hot and spicy elements we love from Julie Kenner, and I love how she ends this story; with a sense of completion, yet, a lead-in to the next book in the series. Love the concept of the series and can't wait to see how the campaign to save the bar unfolds! I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Down on Me by J. Kenner is the first in an epic series of twelve novels all based on a beloved bar and the efforts of it's employees, owners, and patrons to save it from closure. Welcome to the Man of the Month series. An excellent introduction to the series, the scene is set for the "Man of the Month" calendar fundraiser that will be happening throughout each of the twelve books. It also was a wonderful romance of best friends-to-lovers when Reece and Jenna finally took the risk of stepping outside their comfort zones and into each others arms. The secondary characters introduced here had depth and definitely left me eager to see how each of their stories plays out in future novels. Well-written, well-paced and an enjoyable read!

I love the concept of this series, binge reading is definitely something I enjoy and this friends-to-lovers story was a sweet, light and sexy read. This first story nicely sets the scene for the series. The heroes are long-time friends who frequent the bar, owned by one of them, that is on the verge of foreclosure. They need a creative solution to keep it and they come with the idea of a calendar featuring a man of the month. Reece Walker is in the running to be Mr. January. With his best friend Jenna Montgomery, he is determined to save their friend’s bar, by building the buzz to attract more customers. Reece and Jenna are childhood friends and their friendship has remained strong and constant, despite the passing of the years and the distance between them. Jenna can’t stop thinking about Reece, he is the fantasy she wants to turn to reality. And yet she has been suppressing her feelings for the longest time because she doesn't want to lose him. She can’t risk their friendship for a fling that wouldn’t last. Reece isn’t relationship material, every relationship he’s ever had has fallen apart. Overall, I enjoyed this story! It’s well written and filled with sweetness and humor. Reece and Jenna had great chemistry and were engaging characters I definitely rooted for. Their story was a light read, low on drama and angst. This new series is definitely off to a great start and I can’t wait for more! I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily reviewed it.
