4 1/2 stars! The beginning of this books is perfection! I adore when the main character in a book is an author trying to break their writers block. That's Grace. She's lost her muse and is past her deadline for her new novel. Since her book is set in Scotland, she travels there to get inspired. She drives about to find a place to write and ends up in a cave off a Glenn and there she has her first success in months. Ha, too bad a naked man interrupts her! Poor Arian. He's just woke up from a very long sleep to find a women in his cave. A cave she shouldn't be able to see. Is she working with the dark? Why does he want to protect her? Can she be telling the truth about how she found this place? Why does he want to keep her near him? All very good questions. This book was sexy and fun. The story was only about Grace and Arian. It was nice to just be focused on the couple and not all the other aspects of this story. While some of the characters I'm used to were around, the overarching story didn't come into play. I loved that because it just had me thinking about these two. This series is the good stuff that paranormal romance is made out of. Don't miss it.

When you take a romance novel and make it even shorter, what you seem to end up with is insta-love and no story. Dragon King is one of the in-between stories featuring Dragon King Arian and author/human Grace Clark. The short and sweet version of this one is that our two leads are trapped in a cave together and become so deeply attracted to each other that they must be soulmates. This is generally how these books have gone in the past, with a bit more story sprinkled in. I think Dragon King did well with providing a new experience with the heroine learning of the Dragon Kings. Instead of the horribly lengthy history lesson that’s been a common element of previous books, Grace witnesses the Kings in dragon form first hand and from there needs a bit of an explanation (understandably so). Outside of that, I found her just like the other women–they’re all seeking something and instead find themselves mated to a Dragon King. There were a few parts of her character that I wanted to see expanded on. First, she’s an author with a terrible case of writer’s block (totally understand that). So here and there we get glimpses into that writer’s mind but then once Arian shows up those scenes switch to his point of view and are summarized as “she was writing.” Grace also has a fear of storms that is sort of explained and then overused as a way to create tension but I wanted to see it brought out more to really give the story that extra something. Arian wasn’t really different from the other Kings either. He’s newly awakened for the coming conflicts in the full-length novels but other than being highly attractive and unable to keep it in his pants (common traits with the Kings), he’s just a name on the page. Dragon King is a quick novella. Not sure how it will impact the next novel, if it really makes a difference or not, but utterly average.

This was the story of Asher and Rachel ... She set out to expose the Kings and fell for one. Now I want to know more about Blossom and is she going to have a story. Is Con going to find a mate..and what is his secret? I enjoyed this book and can't wait for more.

A short sweet story where a newly wakened Dragon King finds a spunky trespasser inside his mountain. Where a writer trying to find her muse and who is terrified of thunderstorms finds herself stranded in a cave she shouldn't have been able to see. Their interactions were fun, flirty, and she was a bit silly but with spunk thrown in. Their love story didn't have a conflict connected to the main series; yes, they fought Dark Fae, but Ulrik doesn't play a role in this one and Grace's life isn't put in jeopardy, just her heart. Rhi also doesn't make any cameos, though Con is up to his old tricks with trying to keep Arian and Grace apart initially. Sweet, easy read, and fun.
