The New York Times bestselling author of Mind Magic returns as FBI agent Lily Yu gets some very bad news…
Lily learns she was right. Tom Weng—a powerful sorcerer allied with the Old One who keeps trying to take over the world—is still alive. But that's not the worst. Weng is a dragon spawn, the product of a botched hatching given a human form in an attempt to keep him from going mad. A failed attempt.
Meanwhile, Lily’s husband Rule is facing a Challenge to the death. Then there’s the possible reappearance of another sorcerer. But none of that matters when their enemy strikes out of nowhere in the worst way possible. Lily must face a nightmare and return to a place she never wanted to see again. The place where she died…

It's a riveting read as all in this series have been, except it ends upbruptly. Really feels unfinished and I felt short changed. I blame the publisher for this - feels like a greedy editorial decision and not at all the author's usual style. Previous titles in this series have had a complete arc in themselves while also furthering the overarching plot lines of the series.

Cliffhangers suck, but now I'm looking forward even more to the next installment of the "Lupi" series. I have literally read the previous 13 books in the series in the last 3 weeks, I started and couldn't stop. The universe of the Lupi is so interesting and complex. The characters are developed and riveting, well thought out. An enjoyable experience all around. On to book 14 for me now. The only thing wrong with binge-reading is when there are no more readily available books and you have to wait for another release. I will be experiencing this after 14..... Bummer. Please read this series, it's absolutely worth the time and money.

I love this series! This was a good continuation of the story but it ended abruptly in a cliffhanger!
