August Friedrich Ferdinand von Kotzebue war ein deutscher Dramatiker und Schriftsteller, der auch als russischer Generalkonsul tätig war. Seine Ermordung diente als Rechtfertigung der Karlsbader Beschlüsse. Er war der Vater von Otto von Kotzebue und Alexander von Kotzebue und Bruder der Schriftstellerin Karoline Ludecus.
