A devil who won't be denied...

Too powerful to care for such petty things as morals, the Duke of Thorington lives as he pleases. And it pleases him to be known as a cruel, heartless blackguard -- one no sane woman would dare to marry. But when his fortunes suddenly crumble, he must find a way to save his family from ruin. To succeed, Thorington must secure an heiress for his younger brother. There's only one problem...

A lady who can't be contained...

Bold, daring Callista Briarley has survived riots, plagues, and revolutions while building her own privateering enterprise, but the sharks of English society are an entirely new challenge. It will all be worth it if she wins Maidenstone Abbey -- a house her ancestors spent centuries killing each other for. To succeed, Callie needs a husband -- preferably one who can be easily controlled. There's only one problem...

Two hearts destined to ignite...

During the most infamous house party of the summer, Callie and Thorington have one chance to secure both their futures. But falling in love with each other was never part of the plan -- and Callie's need for freedom is directly at odds with Thorington's brand of control. When her past puts them both in danger, will their unexpected love be enough to conquer all?

About the Author

Hopelessly uncool as a child, Sara Ramsey has overcompensated by becoming obsessed with fashion, shoes, and #regencyworldproblems. She has great taste in Champagne, bad taste in movies, and a penchant for tiaras. She also believes in taking naps, wearing sunglasses at night, and using Oxford commas. Sara currently lives in San Francisco, California, where she can be found drinking overly-artistic lattes and working on her next Regency historical romance.

I bought this book because I wanted Gavin to have a story of his own. I knew Sara was going to write it and I loved it. So now it is with the muses of Mayfair. Ferguson is in this and he makes me laugh. Sara is so good with these she doesn't degrade the women but she makes them strong and certainly not helpless

Very good book. I enjoyed the connection to the Muses of Mayfair series.  The Duke of Thorington is an excellent character.  The premise of the book was just different enough to keep my interest

I enjoyed this book. It was all I thought it would be with a few twists and turns along the way. Sara made one of the best plots ever. Gavin, the Duke of Thorington, is invited to a party for who will inherit Maidenstone Estate. He has lost his money and needs to take care of his siblings. Callista owns her late father's shipping business. She is a relative of the Maidenstone Estate. Let the sparks fly. But it isn't for them. Or is it? Her best ship, Nero, captures Gavin' s ships and his Asian ships are late returning. Gavin is trying to save her as being British and capturing  British ships isn't a safe place to be. This was a good read for me. I would recommend this book to read. Sara hasn't let me down with her books so give it a try. I hope you enjoy it.  I have this book for an honest review for NetGalley.

This is book 1 in the Heiress Games series, but is also connected to the Muses of Mayfair series. Callista Briarly must make her way to England to claim her inheritance. Unfortunately, she must also compete for it with her female cousins. During a house party the three of them are suppose to find husbands and the person with the match, according to Ferguson (from Heiress Without a Cause), wins the house and the inheritance. Callista just wants to find a husband that will let her continue to run her father's shipping business. Gavin, the Duke of Thorington, is on the brink of financial ruin and sees this competition as a way to ensure his family's future. He is determined to wed his brother to one of the three cousins and has decided that Callista is the one. But what happens when Gavin finds himself falling in love with the woman he has picked out for his brother? I LOVED this story!! This is the first story by Ramsey that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. After meeting Ferguson & Madeleine as well as Alex and Prudence, I have to read the Muses of Mayfair series!! I always love a heroine that is not traditional because their antics always enliven a story. Callie is definitely not the typical miss having grown up with her ship captain father. I love her need for independence and her attitude toward getting what she wants. I always love when a bad boy fights with what he thinks he wants and what he truly needs in his life and you definitely see this struggle with Gavin. He has had one disastrous marriage and doesn't want another, but he needs to save his family from ruin even if that means marry his brother to the woman he has fallen for. Ramsey is definitely an author that I will continue to read. I love the banter that she has written between the characters and I was laughing out loud throughout the book. I can't wait for the next book in the series which features Octavia (Callie's cousin) and Rafe (Gavin's brother). Thanks go out to Sara Ramsey for a copy of the book in exchange of an honest review.
