Cane Fire

Documentary filmmaker Anthony Banua-Simon weaves an intergenerational narrative of the Hawaiian island of Kauai, examining its history and its contemporary issues. Archival footage, both factual and from the annals of Hollywood, paint an intimate portrait of an idyllic island, while personal testimonies of indigenous residents shed light on the more complex socio-cultural issues underlying the island's politics.
