This psychological thriller involves the inner workings of the minds of three characters. French journalist Mercier (Jacques Charrier) is sent to West Germany on assignment. He meets a seemingly happily married couple, a German writer and his French wife. Mercier becomes friends with the couple and has eyes for the married woman. His interference leads the husband to become the victim of jealous insanity due to Mercier's actions.
