Overview

Eagle Eye by Darcy Flynn

Could one little mistake derail everything she’s worked for?

Undercover journalist, Cameron Phillips, is known for his forthright exposé articles uncovering scandals of New York City’s rich and famous. Using the pseudonym Eagle Eye to hide his identity, he is free to wield his finger pointing, no-holds-barred articles at leisure.

Jillian Jeffrey, teen fashion industry’s latest darling, has a heart for the less fortunate. Her goal is to raise enough money for fashion icon Anna Delany’s, Like No Other charity foundation. The donation will not only keep the charity afloat, but will place Jill in the running for a coveted position on LNO’s board of directors.

In a moment of weakness, at the charity gala, Jill reluctantly accepts a bet from her ex-boyfriend and uses a homeless man to raise twenty thousand dollars. Unknown to Jill, the homeless guy is the cynical, undercover journalist, and Jill has just become his latest exposé target.

In a twist of fate, Cameron is soon hired to shadow Jill as she volunteers with the charity. Shorthaired and clean-shaven, he looks nothing like the bearded, disheveled man Jill had encountered the night of the gala. During their time together, he not only discovers the noble reason behind the bet, but witnesses first hand his article’s negative impact on her business. Faced with the prospect of losing her, will Cameron come up with an antidote for Eagle Eye’s toxic exposé before Jill loses everything she’s worked for?

Reviewed by Romuald Dzemo for Readers' Favorite Cameron Phillips is an undercover journalist with a sharp pen and a mission to expose the New York City big shots. He writes under the pseudonym of Eagle Eye, which conceals his identity completely. Disguised as a homeless man, he gets involved in a bet with Jill and her ex-boyfriend. Jill — the up and coming influencer with a mission to raise money for the less fortunate — soon finds her career threatened after she becomes the subject of the Eagle Eye’s article. Things get complicated for Cameron when he is hired to overshadow Jill as she volunteers to work for the charity. While he feels an undeniable attraction for her, he also notices how much harm he has caused her with his pen. Can he undo the damage and help her save her business before she loses everything, and how exactly can he do that? Eagle Eye is book two in the Like No Other series by Darcy Flynn, a gripping contemporary romance with formidable characters and an intriguing plot. Darcy Flynn’s novel is very engaging and appealing enough to arouse emotions. The beauty of the prose seduced me; it’s neat and polished, and the author’s phraseology makes for an enjoyable reading experience, with sentences that are simple and dialogues that reflect real life. The humanity of the characters is well developed. The narrative is enriched with suspense, and the reader wants to know if Jill, like other victims of Eagle Eye, will find out who is behind the articles. This element of style got me intrigued. The twists are unexpected and exciting, and the unpredictability of the plot raises the entertaining quality of the story.

(Review Via EpicBookQuest) Designer of teen fashion, Jillian Jeffrey, is on the cusp of making a name for herself in the NYC fashion scene- a dream that could easily become a reality with a seat on the board of directors for her favorite charity, Like No Other. With a heart for serving the less fortunate, Jill can think of nothing more fulfilling than combining her two passions into one. When an unexpected opportunity arises for her to raise a significant amount of funds for the organization, and gain a better shot at the position, she jumps at it- unaware that the mistake she’s about to make will put her at risk of losing everything she’s ever worked for… Cameron Phillips is an investigative journalist writing candid exposés under the pseudonym Eagle Eye. While working undercover gathering information on New York City’s homeless, he finds himself at the receiving end of a humiliating bet- and at the hand of a young fashion designer no less. Not to be bested, he gets his revenge in his latest exposé. But when his next job has him shadowing his latest victim, Cam realizes he made a huge mistake, and the painful consequences of his article may be farther reaching than he anticipated. Can he right his wrong before it’s too late? And more importantly, will the girl of his dreams ever forgive him for hurting her so deeply? Romance fans look out! Author Darcy Flynn knocks it out of the park in this second installment of her Like No Other series. Richly drawn characters and a moving story about the places where human struggle and compassion collide form the backbone of this fantastic book, along with a well-paced plot that gathers in intensity and holds you in suspense until the end. While swapping between perspectives of Jill and Cameron, readers are also offered a thoughtful and compassionate look into the troubling issues of homelessness and teen runaways, as well as the exciting world of fashion, and inspirational volunteer work. Smart, original, and emotionally engaging, Eagle Eye is a memorable read that is sure to please. If you are a fan of clean romance with a compelling story, you’ll love this book!
