Hot student/teacher read! I absolutely devoured this book. I can't even say how wrong this story was, but it was totally hot, sexy and edgy. I don't think I've ever read a teacher/student story that was as steamy as this was. Mateo is a teacher that ends up with Shannon in his class, but he sees something with Shannon that others don't. She needs focus to get out of her current situation and it's Mateo's dominant side that comes out and grabs Shannon several ways to make her focus. This book made me squirm way more than I thought possible, and I finished with a smile.

This is a great read. I've had this book on my TBR pile since it came out. It was sexy, sweet and emotional. Everything I needed to be glued to the story. Shannon, has not had a easy past couple of years and one more blow, turns her life in a tail spin of lies and love. I totally saw how Shannon was clueless of everything. Sometimes people miss all the clues people and life throw at you. I really enjoyed her, she was really a very strong and determined even when she didn't have a fighting chance. Mateo, holy sh*t he was smexy. He was very romantic, if you like all the sappy crap and I totally eat it up. Lol. I liked how the story progress and developed. The only thing I didn't like and has no bearing on the way the story was written. Was that, while they lived on a Navy base she called the sailors soldiers. I'm prior Navy so that bug the mess out of me. So that being said, great read. Grab it! Happy reading!

Really enjoyed this one. Perhaps Mateo could have done with a little more depth, but he was pretty sexy, so I'll forgive him. Worth reading!

This book is amazing I couldn't put it down I really enjoyed it, however I didn't like how some of the grammar wasn't understandable words were misspelled and sometimes didn't make sense. But besides that it's a really great book I would recommend this to someone who wants excitement, yet for the mind to be taken to a new adventure

Riveting. I was not sure where this was going when l started but once you introduced the green eyes and bad boy in boots it was off and running w no stops until the end. I could feel the anger of my younger (very much younger) self in this book. I never was exposed to the drugs and neglect but the anger and loneliness were there. My only regret is there was no real Mateo except in our imagination.

Ah...MATEO! That first intimate scene between Shannon and Mateo is straight out of my naughtiest fantasy! Where were the HOT and KINKY teachers like Mateo Alesci when I was in high school? Sigh...anyway, the student/teacher trope is one of my absolute favorites so when I saw the blurb, I just knew that this was a must read for me! And I was not disappointed! The sex was off-the-scale HOT and the story itself was both real and raw. It really resonated with me because these are the type of people that I know. This is how we talk. Although I don't know any teachers, or men for that matter, quite like Mateo (dammit)!, the rest of the story hit way to close to home. Shannon Drake is a bright and beautiful young girl who has been forced to deal with more than her fair share of tragedy and loss. When her guidance counselor informs her that she can't graduate high school without completing some additional required credits, it is absolutely the last straw! Furious, frustrated, yet resigned to her fate, she shows up for a meeting with the Trig teacher who turns out to be the totally-hot-biker-dude that she'd got a brief glance at in the guidance office that morning. Sure the guy is smokin' hot but he's totally inappropriate for her. He couldn't really be coming on to her, could he? Mateo Alesci wants Shannon for his own despite all of the reasons why they shouldn't cross that line. The attraction they both feel is too powerful, and they do cross that line, with a vengeance I might add, and thus their story begins! Add in the fact that Mateo is older and more experienced than Shannon, the fact that he is unbelievably kinky and the fact that he, and everyone else in her life, are keeping secrets from her, and we have the basics for a great story filled with conflicting emotion and angst. To complicate things even more there is another guy in Shannon's life, almost as handsome as Mateo, not nearly as bossy, and so much more appropriate for her than her Trig teacher is. Sunday seems to be a good guy, a loyal friend, but he too knows things that Shannon does not. Who will she choose? Could there ever really be something between her teacher and her, something besides all of the hot, forbidden sex? How will it all work out? You'll have to read to find out! The author writes exceptionally well which always makes a story more enjoyable. There were a few things that didn't sit well with me but they in no way detract from the fact that this is a solid five star read.It bothered me a little that Shannon was so hung up on the age difference between Mateo and her, mostly because that has never been an issue for me. And I felt that Mateo slipped out of character a little during one of the final scenes so that turned me off a little too. But as I said, not enough to detract in any way from my enjoyment of the story.

I totally enjoyed this read. Great writing, storyline and characters. Love it when an author can intrique me with a character and I was completely intriqued with Mateo. Read it in one sitting, it was that good.

Learning that some of the book was based on her true story made me appreciate this book more. The story of a teenager learning about life's hard lessons was well done.

This is one of those stories that will have you glued to every page until the end. You can not put it down because you feel you might miss something. The pain and anguish that Shannon has and will go through will break your heart. Mateo is sexy, hot and you hope he is truthful and not using her for a little fun on the side. I love JA Huss's writing style and don't forget to read the authors notes at the end of the book (EOBS), it gives you some insight into the real story.

It kept me thinking and me trying to figure it out. Definitely different from my normal reads but I enjoyed it. I would of loved a longer epilogue with more details but it was still great.

5 seriously OMGosh stars!!! I love, love, love this book!!!! Shannon's journey, her troubled, messed up, welcome to 18 experience was so beautifully raw. I felt like I experienced every bit of this story with her. In so many ways I connected to her emotions and struggles. The connection with Mateo was off the charts HOT! I found myself holding my breath. I laughed, I wanted to cry, I wanted to hug her and tell her it would be alright eventually. I wanted to cheer for her when things went well. I suspected some of the twists along the way, but not all of them. I love the way JA Huss takes a story and throws twists and turns and emotional turmoil into a story and sucks you into it as if you could have lived it

Purchased this this morning, just finished reading it this afternoon because I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN! I wanted to put it down, or read it a little slower - you know just let it simmer a bit, but I couldn't.....because it is a JA Huss book. It was engaging, fast paced, with believable real life grit, and very sexually hot....because it is a JA Huss book. Perfect. Bring on her next book!!!

I had the honor of receiving a ARC from Julie for an honest review. *****jaw hits floor***** Turning 18 and finishing up your senior year should be a happy time in your life RIGHT?! WRONG!!!! Shannon finds turning 18 and trying to finish her senior year isn't going to be easy. She's had a tough life and things are about to get harder. That hard shell she has put in place is about to be tested in more ways then Shannon is ready for. And the one who will test it the most is Meteo, he is sexy as hell, hot, cold, talks in riddles, 10 years older and the worst of all her teacher. I am not surprised by Julie's books anymore. I just open to the fist page and hold on tight knowing that I am going to be taken on a ride of my life. I find myself emotionally spent when I read her books but I LOVE every second of it!!!! 18 was a very emotional, sexy as hell read. I found myself wanting to reach through my tablet to hug Shannon and protect her but also wanted to shake her to get her to open her eyes. This book will have you dropping your jaw, panties wet, and unable to put it down. Lines are crossed that can't be uncrossed.

Oh my freaking gawd! JA Huss, you amaze me! Eighteen has set a new bar for books about taboo romances. Mateo and Shannon were so hot, I was worried my tablet was going to go up in flames! All of the characters in this book were so real and gritty and complex and multi-faceted. I was completely hooked right from the beginning. Once I started reading this book, I quite literally could not put it down. Mateo is the epitome of a bad boy who just happens to be a really good guy. Shannon is a tough girl on the outside, but extremely vulnerable on the inside. These two need each other in ways even they don't understand, but getting to that point for them is no easy task, but no one does dark twisty romance like JA Huss, so just sit back and enjoy the ride. And, oh what a ride it is! Overall, I found this book to be compelling, sensual, intriguing, erotic, absorbing, romantic, and absolutely riveting. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an enthrallingly sexy read. * I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
