Rachel, Rachel, Rachel. Damn. I didn't think it was possible to top my man, Tex. But you might have done it with Ember!! This book was so much more real and emotional than the previous books. Not just emotional and gut-wrenching scenes, but the entire book. Gutted. Me. Bee tries so hard and see the good in Phoenix that no one seems to see. She refuses to give up on him, even when he's less than nice to her. I think that's the part that I choked on the most. She kept going back for more even when he didn't deserve it. Their story was beautiful, even if Phoenix's past isn't. It's hard to forget or forgive who he was before, but you start to understand why he was the way he was. And hell, if Trace and Nixon can forgive him, we can too, right? Bring on Sergio.

The story of Phoenix and Bee was beautifully written. I never get bored reading this series on the Mafia Bosses of the Five Families! I laugh, I cry and I clap my hands at this amazing story! A very gifted writer Rachel Van Dyken! Can't wait for her next book in this series! A must read!

OK At first I had a problem with this one, because he was a rapist, an in my eyes they can not be redeemed. Ok people before you go off, that my opinion, however, as I continued to read, I appreciated that Phoenix never thought that he should have been forgiven, he knew he did wrong, and he beat himself up for it, and he hated himself. Rachel did a good job with this, because it was a touchy subject. I always remembered that I am a hypocrite, because in the 80's in general hospital Luke had raped Laura, and then they fell in love, and I was all for Luke and Laura..

Everyone has a past and in the mafia your past is never pretty especially for Phoenix De Lange. He is the most vicious, most hated man in the mafia, and he is also the new Boss of the Nicolasi family. On top of becoming a new Boss he is also the bodyguard of Bee, Tex's little sister. She constantly taunts him, teases him, always argues instead of following orders, every time he tries to push her away she only pushes back at him harder. Bee is the only one who sees Phoenix as a person not a monster. Phoenix has been given a second chance at life. He has lived up to his name, he died and has risen from the ashes, he is stronger, better and has finally learned that he IS able to love. Maybe the beast can turn back into a prince after all. Will Phoenix be able to win the war? Or will he loose now that he's finally found something to live for? I am a huge fan of Rachel Van Dyken and she is incredibly talented! She is able to create the worst kind of monster some one that you truly hate and then she shows another side of them, and you can't help but love them. What he has done is not excusable but it is something that he will have to deal with for the rest of his life. The question is, is he strong enough? Can he face his demons and learn to live a normal life again? Or is he a bomb waiting to explode? Will things ever get better with him and his friends? They may be able to forgive but they will never forget.

Love this series, love all the boys but the best part are the strong women that at the end always find a way to save them. One of my favorite authors.

At the beginning of this series, I did not think there was any redemption for Phoenix. He just goes and proves not to judge a book by its cover and I'm so glad that Bee was able to look past the cover. These two were perfect for each other. I knew that Phoenix had a heartbreaking story, I just was not expecting Bee's story to be just as sad. I'm glad that the story also included Sergio's pov. There were some surprising twists to the story that I did not see coming. I'm satisfied with the ending and am looking forward to reading Sergio's story next

One of my most favorite series! The Eagle Elite Series is one of my absolute favorites. Once I started it, with each novel I feel like I've discovered a buried treasure. I absolutely love the characters, as well as the story itself, the romance, the action, the suspense, the danger, and most of all, Rachel Van Dyken's unique brand of portraying the mafia. I previously was not a fan of mafia stories or movies, but this series has totally changed my perspective. Ember is Pheonix and Bee's story. When you read the synopsis, especially if you're not familiar with the series, you'd probably think there was no way you could like this guy, but there is so much more to Pheonix than meets the eye. The only one who can see beneath the bad and into the good is, however, is Bee. Even his closely friends think his soul is past redemption. Pheonix's story is heartbreaking, and while he is far from innocent, his own regrets have caused him to live in a self-made inner prison with little hope of any kind of freedom. Then there is Bee, who has her own issues with rejection and abandonment, and despite Pheonix's attempts to dissuade her, manages to chip away bit by bit at the walls Pheonix has constructed. I loved watching their romance develop over the course of the novel. Another thing I love about this novel and the entire series, is that while each book has its own main characters, all of the other characters play very active roles in the story. I've totally fallen in love with them all. One again, in Ember, Rachel Van Dyken delivers the excitement, danger and suspense big time, while adding the perfect amount of humor and romance to balance things out. I totally love this book and this series and I can't recommend it highly enough. I hope you love it as much as I have.

Wow! This series just keeps getting better and better. Every time I read a book from the Eagle Elite Series, it's like being reunited with old friends or family! No one does Mafia quite like Rachel Van Dyken...... Ember follows the story of Phoenix and Bee. Phoenix is heartless, a monster, killer, rapist. The worst kind of person that you can imagine. He's barley living his life, haunted by the nightmares of his sins. He's barley surviving. That is until Bee enters the picture. Bee is a total game-changer. She was light in his dark. She pushed him, made him feel, made him remember what it was like to live. But, he had to push her away, because her light isn't meant for a monster. But how long can Phoenix keep pushing her away? Can he allow himself some light or will he always see himself as a monster? I have been addicted to this series from the very first book and Ember did not disappoint. The story pulled me in immediately, captivating me. Leaving me unable to put it down. I simply devoured this book. I had to know what would happen next. Ember was the perfect addition to this series. One of the things I loved about Ember, was that it was told from 3 different points of view. It really gave you perspective into the story and made it all that harder to see who you can trust. It was great finally getting to hear Phoenix's story. He had a terrible past and did horrific things. But, everything isn't always so black and white. And I loved seeing Phoenix the way that Bee did. Bee showed Phoenix that there are people out there that are willing to see past your sins and she gave him something to fight for. She was the perfect match for Phoenix. She brought him back to life. The perfect light to his dark. Another thing that I loved, was that all the main players were a part of this story. It was so great to spend time with them all again. And Sergio.....I've been curious about him since Bang Bang. He was featured a lot in this book and everything has been set up perfectly for his story, which comes out next. This book took me on such a crazy ride. I loved the push and pull, the angst, the romance, the secrets and lies. This book had so many great twists and turns. There were times that I didn't know who was telling the truth or who could be trusted. And I for one was on the edge of my seat, right up until the very end. Ember was a quick and enjoyable read for me. It was a great story of redemption, second chances, love, loss, guilt and of course family. I'm so glad that Phoenix's story got to be told. Everyone deserves a chance at redemption and in the end, Phoenix definitely proved he deserved it. If you have been a fan from this series from the very beginning as I have, you will not be disappointed. I fall in love with the series more and more with each book. The characters are so enjoyable and each time I pick up one of these books, it's like spending time with old friends. All I can say is that I LOVED Phoenix and Bee's story and I can't wait for the next book! I highly recommend checking this book, this series out! *I was provided with an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

We have on our hands yet another Eagle Elite Mafia Masterpiece. Rachel Van Dyken has done it again. Ember is the perfect addition to the Eagle Elite series and an emotional story delving into the darkness of who Phoenix De Lange is. Ember is the story of Phoenix and his moment to bring the world he knows into perfect alignment with the help of Bee, Tex’s sister and the woman meant to change his existence. This story is full of both the depravity of humanity and the beauty of it. We see the harsh reality of Phoenix’s childhood and past decisions that created the monster, but we also see the struggle to shed the old life and live free and fiercely. This story has everything we have come to expect from the Eagle Elite series. It has drama, intrigue, misdirection, passion, and lots of ammunition. Over the past few books in the series, we have begun to see a change in Phoenix. His life was uprooted in such a violent way and he has been attempting to make atonement for his sins ever since. He lives a life denying himself the good and beautiful, in hopes of bringing forgiveness and a bit of a respite from his ever present crippling guilt. Seeing the depravity of his childhood displayed throughout Ember was a rough pill to swallow. Seeing his life choices that were so harsh and traumatizing was difficult to read. It is a bit of an internal struggle to read what happened to Phoenix and what he in turn did to people. You see his longing for forgiveness but the reality of his past. But that is the unadulterated beauty of redemption. This story is about forgiveness and learning to let the past go. It is not trivial but life altering. It was heartbreaking to see that Phoenix did not see himself worth the forgiveness of second chance. It was frustrating when many of the Elite shared his view. His past makes that understandable on a certain level, but the fact that his family had reservations made it more heart breaking. Bee was truly his salvation. She was the innocence that had lived through hell. She was his chance to make it right and her love and affection had the power to break the ugliness off his life and give him a reason to live. The love story was perfect. It was a push and go relationship where she showed him his value and worth and he continually pushed her to deny it, yet she never ran away, always believing in the man who saved her life. I could go on and on but just know that this story is powerful and perfect for Phoenix. It is messy and confusing but exactly what everyone needed. The romance and passion was profound. The tale of a second chance was beautiful and gut wrenching. I think that Ember might be the most beautifully written Eagle Elite story yet! Rachel weaves a story of despair into one of hope and love. Don’t miss this book! It will pull at all your heartstrings and leave you smiling in the end!

Rachel Van Dyken has done it again. She's written a story that both entertains and thrills the reader. It's dramatic, powerful, and captivating. She manages to take a character I would have never thought I'd be able to be sympathetic towards, let alone tolerate, and turned everything I think about him around. How can some one who is the abuser turn out to be a victim himself? Well this book answers that question and more. I didn't think this series could get any better after Elicit, however Ember has tossed that thought completely out of my head. Phoenix's story was such a revelation. He was a revelation. His childhood was so painful and trying to deal with everything that had happened in the recent past weighed heavily on him too. I loved Bee's influence in his life. I loved the Phoenix he was with her, once he stopped fighting the self loathing and attraction he felt to her. Bee (Bianka) might have been the Capo's sister, but she had a painful past of her own, never being wanted and passed from family member to family member. Yet she still somehow managed to remain sheltered and have a great attitude towards life. I loved how she teased Phoenix. Their bantering never failed to bring a smile to my face. The chemistry the two shared was wonderful. I loved seeing Phoenix so protective of Bee, even if she didn't realize his true feelings and just thought he was obsessive and over protective. I will admit to laughing more than I cried while reading this book, but since I laughed a lot, it also means I cried plenty too. It was really hard to not get caught up in what Phoenix, Bee, and the gang were dealing with. Every time I read an Elect novel, I always feel like I'm transported into the story, and I always get caught up with what the characters are feeling. I loved how Sergio played an important role in this story and I'm really looking forward to reading his book next. In fact, I might say he was the biggest surprise of all. Just so you know, the teaser at the end of the book will shock you! I love how the series keeps growing. I don't think I'll ever be ready to stop reading about the Elect.

I LOVE THIS SERIES!!! It is not a usual world that you would think that you would fall for by Rachel Van Dyken has such a gift and capturing you and transplanting you into this unknown mafia vortex where these young boys are running the underground world. They are boys in a man's world and surviving the best that they can. Out of all of them Phoenix De Lange is probably the most broken and is having a hard time with his new position and responsibilities, especially watching over Bee Campisi. Bee is the sunshine in Phoenix's world and he doesn't know how to deal with it. He has done so many things wrong in his past that he craves and needs punishment, as redemption is a foreign concept for him. As the heads of the family they try and deal with the aftermath of certain events however, it's not smoothing sailing for these guys, as now the feds are after them and there is a rat in the bunch. Trying to balance everything and flush out the rat is hard enough now add a perky girl who sees the good in the bad causes Phoenix's world to implode. "Then you really are dead inside. Because that girl looks at you like you just promised to buy her the moon - and you look at her as if you did more than promise it." There is so much drama, I love it!!! I love this book being about hope, redemption and second chances within a dark cruel world. Now that Phoenix is part of the group again we get to see all the old faces and see how they deal with the return of there lost 'brother'. In this world it is a shoot first and ask questions later, so Phoenix getting it on with Tex's sister is a no no but who could blame the guy when he finally gets a glimpse of something good in his life. He may have made terrible mistakes in the past but when you are raised by monsters it is hard to break free of that mold. For Phoenix he didn't think it was possible until Bee Campisi blew into his world and changed EVERYTHING. Love the story! Love the series! This book took me a teeny bit longer than usual to get encaptured but once I was gripped I couldn't put the book down.

It is no secret how addicted I am to the Eagle Elite series, and Ember has well and truly fed that addiction! As soon as Ember was announced I was excited and apprehensive in equal parts. Anyone who has read the previous books will know why I have a love/hate relationship with Phoenix but Rachel has put any, and all, reservations I had about him and his story to rest! The story of Phoenix De Lange was never going to be an easy one to tell and Rachel has really outdone herself this time. She has done an amazing job of tackling a very sensitive issue and successfully spun Phoenix and his story on it's head until it's no longer clean cut, no longer black and white, but a total haze of beautifully spun greys and silver. I knew it was going to be heart wrenching because of Phoenix's past, but I really wasn't expecting to be as emotionally involved as I was. All the walls I had built up where Phoenix was concerned have been well and truly smashed down...and I honestly couldn't be happier about it! Whilst Nixon and Trace will always be my favourite Elite couple, Phoenix and Bee are a really close 2nd... It may even be a tie it's so close. I just love the way Bee teases and taunts him! The rest of the gang didn't disappoint either, they were all on top form and I was crying with laughter more than once. Ember is a seriously epic book and it's a fantastic addition to the series. Thank you Rachel for letting Phoenix tell his story.
